Sorry friends but this isn't a good review about food but a story of a 25 year quest completed. As many of you may know it is customary that if you buy the last shot of Louie XIII the restaurant gives you the bottle and case. ($295/shot). After 25 years of looking. Bartender how many shots are in that bottle? 2 he replies... pour'em! Check it off the list!

Nice old hotel on border of Gas Lite area. Very friendly reception and porter staff. Very nice room with lots of nostalgia. Most unusual height of bed, about 3+ feet off the floor. Many seniors or handicapped people might find they need staff assistance to get into bed. Quit nice after you finally crawl in. Breakfast was a bit of a bummer. Ordered hash and eggs and got a bowl of soup. New idea said the waitress. To me, hash is hash, don't fool with it! Hotel is not within walking distance of the... Read more

Really cool hotel, lots of history and charm. The bell staff were very helpful and the concierge went above and beyond introducing me to the San Diego area, provided running routes, helped me with Padres tickets and where to eat. Highly recommend.

The US Grant embodies true hospitality with luxury. Demi Ricario was amazing. Chief Concierge Peak was beyond helpful every minute. The valets were always charming, helpful, offering water and being so very kind. Check in was painless. Our pets were greeted with kindness throughout our stay. They had an awesome bed and dinner area, treats, Bandanas and a personalized welcome note with their names. Bellman were helpful and understanding- although staying only 2 days, we had quite a bit of lugga... Read more

Christmas at the U.S. Grant was a real pleasure!! I was attending a Road Scholar Program with a friend and we stayed at the hotel for nine days. Our room was lovely, spacious with a walk-in closet, two comfortable Queen size beds, a desk, two chairs ample dresser drawers and a large screen TV. The bathroom was spacious and modern with a large glass enclosed shower. The food was consistently outstanding! We enjoyed a breakfast buffet each morning is a special dining room. Our five course Ch... Read more

At first, there was a scary vibe as you walk down the dark hallways with seemingly washed up blood throughout the carpets. It reminded me of the Hotel season of American Horror Stories. When you get over all this, the hotel is actually quite special. Great location in gas lamp quarters! Grand entrance and rooms were modern and artistic. I wish they had the rooftop garden open for guest to enjoy. Staff was great and service was top notch! Definitely coming back and highly recommended when in San... Read more

Great location in the Gaslamp district within walking distance to a number of restaurants and attractions. The hotel lobby and refreshed lower level are very nice with plenty of seating and breakout space. The also serve complementary coffee and tea each morning. They provide excellent service and the concierge is very helpful with suggestions and maps. The rooms are well decorated but are small and the AC can be noisy when it turns on. Also the rooms are dark especially if you get a room a... Read more

After careful consideration and exhaustive research, the U.S. Grant was chosen for our 5 night pre-17-night-cruise-to-South-America-from-San-Diego Halloween weekend stay. We absolutely loved San Diego and adore this property. The charm & hospitality of the hotel (especially that shown to us by Kimber at the front desk.and Umberto & Corey in the Grant Grill) is world class. The lobby exuded elegance with a tasteful opulent old world decor, our well appointed smartly furnished 5th floor corner acc... Read more

The hotel is grand in appearance. The room we were assigned was newly refinished. The first problem is they sent us the old key to the door which was very frustrating. Then, the bed was just too high for short little me (5'4") and no means to get up which made each evening difficult for me. There was no chair in the room other than the desk chair for my husband and I to sit in and relax. Now when I got up in the bed it was heaven. The air conditioning fan was very loud.

I stay at the US Grant when I want to stay downtown and attend a show at the Civic center, which is only one block away. I've also been there more than a few times for various parties and events. Valet parking is very easy, accessible from both sides of the hotel and fast for both drop off and pickup. The hotel restaurant, the Grant Grill, is much more upscale and sophisticated than its name would suggest. The chef is very talented and the menu has a variety of great choices. When choosing ...
