I had the pleasure of attending a conference at the Marriott Marquis. The rooms were well-appointed and the balcony view of the harbor was wonderful. I really loved the smiling service from the staff at the hotel. As a business traveler the wifi was above average - reliable and fast. Thanks for the great stay!

The entire hotel is well maintained and clean. The staff is very accommodating...bell hops, valets, concierge. The view from our room on the 25th floor over the marina was incredible. And the place is huge with a couple of place to eat on site. With no complimentary coffee in the lobby, though, you're forced to get your coffee at the on-site Starbucks. And if you want to use the wi-fi, you have two choices: go to the public spaces (in close proximity to where you can also buy snacks and drinks),... Read more

Great location in Gaslamp and adjacent to the convention center. Room was nice (standard higher end Marriott room) with an amazing view of the bay. Elevators in the south tower are slow as molasses. Very friendly and attentive staff. Lobby bar is fun and a nice place to meet colleagues. I would stay here again for business.

Hotel is at one end of the convention center, facing the embarcadero and Marina. With beautiful views of the Marina and across to Coronado. The location is within easy walking distance of the Gas Lamp districts with plenty of wonderful restaurants and bars. The hotel is a very large property and the two guest towers are connected through a main lobby with a good walk between the two towers. This is a terrific place to stay if attending a convention. Location was great! Rooms are average but clean. We were visiting during a convention so it was really crowded. There was a good bit of construction but they kept it pretty week contained. Two of the elevators were down and an employee noticed the extremely long wait for elevators and took guests through the service elevator. Great awareness and customer service by this employee. Concierge was nice but didn't seem very helpful with allergy friendly, organic or vegan restaurants.

The hotel is what I would expect considering its location. The food in the restaurants was really good. Room service was quick but I thought it was sub-par when it was delivered in bag, condiments in packets and plasticware. Great heated pools and easy access to the boardwalk and Sea Harbor.

Everything about this hotel was excellent. You couldn't get a more central location. Next door to the convention center, a few blocks from the Gaslamp district and not very far from downtown and the port. Checking in and out was a breeze. The rooms was wonderful and clean. The pool area was huge and it doesn't look like you would ever have to worry about getting a lounge chair

It's relaxing, whether your there to swim or not, just sit there to appreciate the complex. The rooms are standard Marriott. This is my go-to hotel when in SD. The hotel it's self is clean and has a modern design and appeal. It also has the best location, just down from Gaslamp on the marina. The staff is friendly and attentive. Make sure to get a bay view with a balcony for the best views of the marina and Coronado Island. Be aware that there our room did not have a refrigerator but their walk-up café, "the exchange" has everything and more including craft beer!! :)

I first want to say that I don't give 5 stars to many establishments ( you can check) so the fact that I only gave this place 4 stars says that I did like it. The room was spacious, clean and what you would expect. I will say that the AC was not central air and did not work very well. It wasn't too hot so it wasn't that big of a deal but we did tell the reservation agent we were here for our anniversary so I was expecting a better room. All in all I have no complaints it just was ok.

Amazing grand public areas, easy check-in process, free WiFi (for Marriott members). The hotels public areas are grand, but the room decor is out-dated. This was the first time I've stayed at this particular hotel. I was told that everything had been recently upgraded and it showed. The rooms were clean and bright and contemporary. The location was great, right near everything. The walk to the Gaslamp District was only a few blocks. You're only a few minutes from the airport. The staff was extremely friendly. If I had to pick on anything, it would be the wireless service which was pretty dismal. It could have been because I was there at a... Read more

Lovely quiet room, lovely marina view. Coffee in the room was quite good with half and half - not that powdered stuff. Housekeeping was spot-on. Will stay here again. Lovely pool and seating outside. Easy walk to the marina walk to visit Seaport Village and other sights.

This is a very nice place to stay while in San Diego...I believe it was recently refurbished and they definitely added an upscale feel to the entire property. I was at a conference and they do a truly fabulous job of hosting an event for a large group of people. The food served to hundreds at a time was amazingly well done. Only complaint for me was they keep the AC blasting at a level to chill even a northern dude....I came down to get warm! The location is very nice as well. The marina wa... Read more

The views from the upper floors are spectacular. The location is close to gaslamp so everything you need is right there for you. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The quality of the food for room service is surprising. It is all pre-made microwave stuff. It comes fast but just doesn't taste that good. The pools and hot tubs are great.

the location is great, centric to gaslamp/harbor etc. this was our second stay here within the past year. the rooms are nice and spacious. i got a great aaa deal which is why i booked again BUT this time, there was no bottled water in rooms, our shower drain was backed up, and the hotel was packed! both lines to get coffee in the morning were long, waited 25 minutes for a cup of coffee. the elevators were acting up as well, stopping on each floor even though it was going up and people were wai... I really like the location of this Marriott. It is close to the marina, and only a 5 minute walk to the Gas Lamp district. Our room on the 7th floor was large and well appointed with a beautiful view of the marina. Free wifi throughout hotel. Beautiful pool area. Parking here is a nightmare, at least when I was there. The self parking lot fills up really quickly, so if you arrive late at night, you will be stuck with valet, which is pretty pricy. As it is, self-parking is $39/day! Outra... Read more

After several days of eating in the restaurants or the "To Go" express place downstairs, I decided to treat myself to room service for dinner. When the food arrived it was in a TAKE OUT bag and it had come from the the express counter downstairs! I told the guy I shouldn't have to pay an extra $8.00 for him to deliver take out food. I was expecting real food on a real tray with silverware and a napkin. Instead I got food in a bag with plasticwear and no water. Seriously Marriott - of you'r... Read more

Good service, clean rooms, nice pool area, very convenient access to convention center. Complimentary in room coffee. Room rates can be ok - depends on when you book / what the convention negotiated. Food choices are not very impressive, restaurant is ok but nothing special. Outside bar is nice, inside bar ok but smallish. Food and drink prices are high ( which is typical in the hotels around the convention center) Easy walking distance to old town / Gas Light District. Rooms are clean an... Read more

Had an overnight stay in this Hotel and I wish it had been longer! The room was very comfortable, the front desk staff wonderfully helpful and friendly, not phony! The bar had some very interesting beer choices and I tried a few of them! The food was just OK. Not bad, just not great! The service though was top notch. The property is located on the marina and two block away from the gaslight district. You can walk to the Midway aircraft carrier museum and the Maritime Museum of San Diego. ... Read more

The first thing I noticed about this property was the amazing lobby overlooking the pool and palm trees... I felt like I was in Hawaii! This property is large! Two curved wings make up the hotel rooms, ballrooms everywhere, large pools, and a Roy's Restaurant on premise! I really enjoyed the Tequila Bar at the pool level. It has an island feel and lots of seating. The gym is perfect with lots of treadmills, weight machines and an aerobics room. I was upgraded from a city view on the fifth floor ... Read more

Every three years or so, my company returns here for our annual meeting, which brings thousands of participants. The last two times we've been in San Diego (and probably more than that), we've stayed here. I really love this hotel. The service is great. They work very hard to accommodate the vast number of folks associated with our event. May I also say that the bartenders are over the top good. I look forward to our next meeting there. This was a second time staying and we chose to do so because many rooms offer outside decks with fabulous views of either the city, the marina or both! The rooms are nicely appointed and check-in and check-out were easy. W also enjoyed great massages in their on-site spa. However, when ordering room service on this visit, we found that the hotel no longer does traditional room service. In fact, when you place an order, they deliver the equivalent of high-end fast food in packages within packages... Read more

I was at this hotel July 25-29 for a conference but it would have been equally good for a family vacation. Great restaurants and bars right on the hotel property and of course plenty to do within walking distance as well. Staff in every part of the hotel was friendly and helpful and the sleeping rooms and common areas were all immaculate.

We stayed at the Marriott downtown after our layover from Hawaii. What a wonderful surprise this turned out to be. The hotel is lovely with every need furnished. The pool area and view are beautiful. The hotels it's directly on the San Diego harbor which allows for very scenic walks to seaport village or downtown restaurants and shopping. Our room was great with a corner view of the entire city. Staff was excellent and very accommodating when we needed a rollaway bed late into the evening.

Recently stayed at the Marriott Marquis SD, maybe my expectations were low because it was (1)a business trip & (2)a huge Marriott - but I loved my stay here! The grounds, the views, the restaurants...it felt like a tropical vacation! Definitely go for a corner room on a high floor, I had great views of the harbor, downtown skyline and massive hotel pool. The front desk clerk tried for a while to get me such a nice room. I appreciate it. I did not like that you could not smoke on the balcony. I did not like room service at all. My family and I traveled to the San Diego Marina Marriott before heading to Hawaii. We had two rooms overlooking the Marina. They both were good, clean rooms with comfortable beds. Loved that they had the sink vanity separate from the toilet and shower area.
