My stay was perfect! Was upgraded to a nice room on the Concierge Level however the staff is what makes or breaks your stay. The front desk staff (Cole, Michael, Gina, Nicole and the new Front Desk Manager) were awesome. I am a Platinum Elite member and have noticed the disappearance of the Chocolate Chip Cookies as a desert in the Concierge Level (this is happening at many Marriott hotels). I made that remark to the Front Desk staff around 4 PM before leaving to meet friends for dinner. Returne... Read more

I stayed here for two nights for a work trip. The staff was very nice and helpful. It was clean. The restaurant was great and easy to work from while eating. The location is great being so close to the interstate. There is a great gym and a pretty pool to sit by if you have the time.

This is a very nice Marriott with wonderful staff and very clean and updated rooms. The pool area is very nice. I did notice that the bar tended to close a bit early as we were traveling with a large group. Wonderful location convenient to a lot of great areas. Took Uber from the airport instead of taxi and saved quite a bit. I believe fare was around $24.

This hotel was perfect for my first trip to San Diego! The hotel was very clean, great rooms and best part was the amazing pool area (loved the fire pits & relaxing setting). Breakfast at the restaurant was also very good and the location is close to restaurants, gas stations, grocery store & interstate.

I was excited about a night in san diego on my business trip. And i am often happpy in Marriott's. So imagine my disappointment arriving at this ugly block in an office park overlooking a freeway some 3 miles from a beach. Charmless sums up the location. Check in staff were friendly and efficient. The pool is ok not huge and nicely firnished yet the noise of the adjacent freeway sets the tone. Rooms are fine charging for wifi is mean in this day and age. . Was enticed by the great rate for a Marriot in Del Mar, Ca. The room was Marriot quality and service was great. Nice public areas, but too cold to use the pool area. Has cabanas and firepit by the pool. Expected more ocean views, but hotel is very nice. 20 dlls per day for parking was a bit much for the area, only complaint.

Overnight stay to check out San Diego & catch a Padres game. The hotel staff checked us in early & was very friendly. Perfect location if you are there to watch the game as its just directly across the street from the entrance. Rooms were great and we'll kept. Great stay all around.

Had a great stay! They really know how to take care of there guests! Thank you Marriott. We will definitely stay here again. The staff's laid back and easy going attitude made our weekend away a relaxing time much better than the Hilton Del Mar, which has not personality or warmth.

The staff in this hotel is wonderful, gracious and helpful. The lounge, available to gold and platinum members, had all kinds of hors d'oeuvres in the evening and a reasonably good breakfast selection. The room was a disappointment, with only one uncomfortable easy chair and a desk chair.

Right when we arrived, we felt welcome! The room was clean, spacious, and hypoallergenic. I could feel the difference in the air, literally, with the filters running. The beds were comfortable and the room was a large corner room. I would highly recommend this hotel for future stay.

I stayed a weekend here for my cousin's wedding. The reception was at the hotel and it was a beautiful event large room with dance floor and servers who were prompt and polite. My room was on the 9th floor a king size bed and it was such a comfortable bed, had a desk area, and chair with ottoman. We ate breakfast at the restaurant downstairs called Arterra. If you leave your baggage with the front desk they will give you a 20% off coupon for the restaurant. The food is deliciousness I reccomend... Read more

This was our first stay at this Marriott property. The lobby is beautiful, and the rooms nicely decorated, very clean, and comfortable. I am a light sleeper, and hotel air conditioners are usually too noisy for me; however, at this Marriott our room's air conditioner was blissfully quiet--which was heaven for me! The lighting in the shower could be improved, but otherwise the room was great. The hotel location is convenient and all the staff were very pleasant. We had an exceptionally good... Read more

I'm writing this immediately following a weekend stay that was less than acceptable, and STILL waiting for the phone call from the Manager I was supposed to receive. First and foremost, I selected this hotel due to the expected quality of a Marriott as I was spending the weekend in Del Mar/Solana Beach for a family birthday. In fact, I made note of the birthday on my reservation. Not only was the birthday never acknowledged, the way the Marriott treated us was truly horrible. We had a 2 night ... Read more

Staying here with my children. This hotel is close to the airport and numerous sites to visit. Easy to get to very friendly and prompt service. Nice rooms and awesome pool area. Highly recommended. We needed a rollaway bed for our room and it was promptly delivered. The valet parking service people are friendly and knowledgable about the area as are the check in staff.

Good Stuff: Great staff. Friendly. Hotel ambience was nice, and the room presentation was inviting. Clean and comfortable. Bad Stuff: Don't go to the Hotel Restaurant. Really bad food. Nice people. Worst thing: The Bed was really hard. Terrible Sleep. I was an Eagle Scout and have slept on hard ground better than the bed. I actually pulled the sheets off in the middle of the night to be certain it was not two bed springs back to back. Laid the sheets out on the floor, and slept the... Read more

We weren't originally going to stay here but because other family members were we decided why not! Our room was not ready by check in time! We decided to have some drinks and appetizers in the hotel restaurant/bar! The tables were dirty there was food on the floor. We had to go to the bar to order and pick up drinks. There was no cocktail person! One of the days they didn't clean our room. The bartender was nice and later the outside cocktail lady was very nice. We on,y had breakfast there ... Read more

I'll start with the good: the room was clean and the night staff was kind. But the real reason I'm writing this review is because I have sent several emails to Marriott and nobody seems to care. So let me tell you the bad: I booked our reservation for July 30th on May 1st. When you book a room at this hotel, you can request early check-in. Good, well located hotel, right off of I-5, one mile easy walk to the Torrey Pines State Beach. Ruths Chris is half a mile away. Many other restaurants are close-by but you'll need a car (or shuttle if available) to get to them. My complaint is the congestion in front of the hotel. There is extremely limited parking for check in, or quick drop-off or pick-up. It's like an overly congested car lot in front of that hotel. Makes for a very poor first impression.

Micheal at the front desk got our stay off to a great start with a hearty welcome and professional sevice. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable and all of the hotels amenities live up to the advertising. We are already planning a return trip!

How could one go wrong by choosing any major hotel in the greater San Diego area, right? This Marriott is in a great location but it's been a disappointment since I walked in the door. The front desk staff are wonderful - really helpful. But the quality of the hotel rooms is abysmal. The floor was dirty (does not look like it's been vacuumed in a long time - food was found!), the bathroom was dirty and the hallways are dirty. They need to upgrade their cleaning staff.

I really cannot find anything to complain about. The pool area is an oasis considering it sits next to 2 major freeways, however, they managed to minimize noise and provide a very relaxing outdoor patio, pool, and bar. They have cabanas with flat panel tvs, heated, ceiling fans. It was unreal watching football in a cabana at night with drink service.

I was granted a 1pm checkout and I appreciate the service and hospitality so grant four stars. As others have noted the 'facelift' is needed and looks like it will be coming in 2017. The biggest issue we encountered other than an outdated look was that I had to go to FIVE different floors searching for an ice machine that had ice in it! There is only ice on ODD numbered floors and I was staying on floor six. I checked all the way up and down and finally found an ice machine on the 11th floor... Read more
