When I was looking for a room that had service to the airport, I stumbled on the Red Roof Inn. It was clean, in walking distance to many night spots but, more importantly, the service was first rate! Ivan, Antonio and Natalie were so helpful in so many ways. They each went " beyond the required duties"! Granted it is not an upscale resort, but if you are on a tight budget, this is a property that will make your visit to San Diego memorable.

We had a nice time there . There is an airport pick up shuttle, with a friendly driver . The staff at the hotel were courteous . They helped us on places to visit and guided us. The breakfast is average but provides a good start. The hotel is centrally located and you can reach the sea and zoo easily just by walking

The hotel is just ok, but the service is superb. They have a shuttle to and from the airport. You can spend the night before Your early flight (we had a 6:30 am flight to Kona) and park your car inthe hotel for only $5 a night. That is a really good deal. The car will be in a gated parking garage so it's safe. There was also a $16 parking charge for the night we stayed. It's still much cheaper than if we parked at the airport. On our arrival day, the shuttle was running late so the hotel told us... Read more

This hotel is located a few blocks away from the fifht ave. where all the restaurants and nightlife takes place. The room was clean, big and it had like a working table, the beds were also clean and comfortable. They offer a very complete breakfast and they have a special place to eat it. The only bad thing is they charge you $16 dlls per night of parking and my room needed a renovation, at least the bathroom. It´s a good option to stay, great value for money, but I think you can get a bette... Read more

I booked this Inn because it was close to the airport and had free shuttle. It was just one night and didn't need to be luxury. On the plane from Mexico I developed an abscessed tooth; terribly painful and my the side of my face was swollen to twice its size. I had to contact family, find a dentist and change plans. Wifi was not working in my room. Shaking with chills, I went to the front desk to try to get online. The woman at the desk didn't seem to enjoy her job. it seemed to be bother to a... Read more

We checked in and had the suite above reception. On entering it was a nice room with separate living area and bedroom. The fridge in the room was very wobbly this had attempted to be rectified with a piece of cardboard which on opening the fridge door you could see big damp patches on. The lights between the beds didn't work an upon closer inspection this was because an electrical outlet was hanging out of the wall with wires exposed. We made reception aware of this when leaving the next mornin... Read more

The hotel was in extremely poor condition. The phone wasn't working, the so called free Wi-Fi did not work. The AC was badly in need for repair. The room was quite dull and dingy with rotten smell. Very Very disappointed with the service received. Therefore had to cancel the booking on the very first day. Not worth a decent stay I would say!!

The room was o.k. but we could not seem to get enough wash cloths and shower towels through our stay. The breakfast was substandard. Toaster hardly heated my waffle. Pancake maker was on the fritz most mornings. They did provide shuttle to the airport which was one reason we stayed there.

Stayed here one night after cruise. $10 taxi ride from port. Room basic but clean. NATALIE on reception was helpful by letting us check in early and giving us information about things to do with a detailed map. Took the city bus tour which was quite expensive but enjoyable. Breakfast was included the next day and also shuttle to airport so no complaints.

At Ash and 7th this hotel is a walk down the hill toward the Gaslamp District and up the hill to Balboa Park, maybe 15 - 20 minute walk in either direction. This is an old fashioned motel design, where you drive into an interior courtyard and then find 3 floors of catwalk access rooms. We had a room on the third floor facing downtown (but it was really a view of the roof and a big building). The room is modest, but with a big bed and a couch, a fridge and an okay bathroom. The air conditioner is... Read more

They receive you really badly and they are not tolerant with people that their native language is not English. In my room there was a roach and they don't accept to change my room. Furthermore they don't tell you that bill the safety deposit box and bill you with your credit card when you left the hotel. And when you call them they don't give a mail to claim and they got off the phone.

If I could give a negative star rating I would. The room was booked through the hotel website and looked nothing like the pictures. The bathroom was child sized and the shower/tub was slightly larger than an apron sink. Worst part was when you stepped in the shower/tub the floor was bubbled and slippery. Only one window high above the bed. Room was dirty and towels and sheets were highly questionnable. We were on the first floor and all we could hear was the floor above us and the parking lot ou... Nice big clean room with very good wifi in a very good location, even has a little shop across the road. Plenty of parking with underground parking onsite if needed. Parking was extra but was reasonable. Breakfast was surprisingly good for a small hotel with plenty of choice.

We stayed at the red roof mainly because of the rate we found. Overall good experience, we were able to easily walk to the pier, gas lamp quarter and little Italy. The zoo was also in walking distance. This was key because parking was nearly impossible in the area. Staff was awesome. Very helpful! Wifi wasn't great but overall would recommend if you're just looking for a place to stay to see the sights.

My boyfriend and I came to SD for a random weekend getaway, but our hotel had some issues with our reservation that it wasn't able to go through. Upset, we were just about to head back to LA but stopped by here just to see if we can hopefully find a room for the night. We were helped by SHANICA!!! She is honestly THE BEST. Best customer service we've ever had at any hotel! She gave us a really good deal at our most needed time! Shanica was also really friendly and made us feel welcome the whole ... Read more

I was quite disappointed by this hotel and its staff in general. They don't seem to be eager to help. They are very laid back. I arrived by 9 pm to find out they had canceled my reservation without even notifying me and the day before I had sent them a note via booking.com informing them of my late arrival, but they never got back to me. So the receptionist gave me another room for the same fare as if she was doing me the greatest favour. The room was ok, very spacious, with a microwave, a mini... Read more

The hotel was nice for the price. Ivan the manager was super helpful and answered all our questions. The room was nice with sound proof windows. Airplanes fly over every 5 minutes and the street noise can be an issue late at night. The place was clean , the parking was good with a fee. Everything was close by. I would say a 15-minute walk to most of the main areas. Good for the price.

This is the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed at. The room was falling apart. no parking ... had to park around the corner in an under ground garage. Very unsafe. The room was dirty. had a garage style type toilet. The shower was extremely small and tiles falling down and cracked. The floors instantly turned your socks black. I slept fully clothed on top of the shirts and use my jacket for a blanket and pillow. Did not feel safe or want to attempt to look under the sheets. Ther... Read more

I came into the Red Roof Inn tired and grumpy. Shanica greeted me with a great smile, a great attitude and gave me a great deal on my room. She really knows how to treat a customer. Because of Shanica's great customer service I will be returning to the Red Roof Inn for all of my hotel needs. Shanica explained the wifi instructions to me, the times and location of the free breakfast and answered all of my questions with patience and kindness. THANK YOU SHANICA FOR A GREAT EXPERIENCE!

Got sent to 3 different rooms. Upon arriving, the bed board collapsed. Room 2, started dripping something good yellowish at about 4 am, onto the faux wood floor. It did stop. I reported it to the front desk. They told me they would have someone look at it. Went to SeaWorld. Came back and saw the same thing, and maintenance never went to the room. I was told they have no more rooms. Their sister hotel is the adjacent Holiday in Express. They did get us another room about an hour later. Parking... Read more

I was there to visit my grandson who is in the Navy. I was so disappointed in the hotel. There was never any parking on lot had to park on street. Shower was awful no pressure. Breakfast was just ok, but it was the only thing in my stay that was ok.
