I booked my room online and I paid for a suite. When I got there, I was told the suite didn't have a couch like it said online and I needed somewhere for my brother to sleep. I asked if we could just switch to a room with a couch in it. However, they didn't reimburse me for the difference of the rooms. That wasn't a huge deal but what leads me to write this review was the customer service. When I checked in, there were 2 guys at the counter. The one who helped me was decent. The other guy was ve... I was so worried about this hotel because there are a lot of bad reviews. Well, I got there and yes, the exterior is pretty outdated but was still kept clean and presentable. The rooms are updated standard rooms with microwaves and a fridge. The sheets were clean and housekeeping were also great and thorough. My 4 year old son was not feeling great one of the day we were there and threw up all over the sheets and floor. This was about 8:30-9pm. I called front desk and he had someone come help ... My primary reasoning for choosing this hotel was the price compared to similar hotels in the San Diego area. It's a little but further from most of the city attractions than others, but not too far that it was a pain to travel. Cleanliness and amenities were up to par and about what you would expect from any hotel. Bathroom a bit drab and simple (no windows, solid white tile all around, basic shower) but gets the job done if you're not spending much time in the room. Service at the front desk an... Read more

No complaints. They kept the ground clean and nice. Rooms were as expected for a minimum of 3 star rating. We were here for 2nights and everything was fine. Bedding was clean, bathroom was ok..although they should replace the tiles because the grout is a little dirty. There's a restaurant in the same grounds which was very convenient for us to just walk over there.

This hotel is ok... The bathroom needs a major update and the beds were uncomfortable. The shower is little, no tub, and the bathroom needs more shelves or counter space. Upsides: There is a fridge and microwave in the room, and the pool is very nice. I won't stay here again.

We have been staying here at the Ramada for years. I grew up in San Diego and love that this location is close to all the things we love. We have watched this location change and upgrade over the years. The staff is always friendly. The rooms are always clean. The pool is sparkling. We will be happy to recommend the Ramada to everyone!

All was good with my stay. The only challenge I had was the restaurant (Proud Mays) chef left at least 20 minutes early and several customers were not allowed to eat when and where they wanted. They establishment lost money as well as the staff who would have received tips from the several customers who did not eat there.

There is nothing special about this hotel. The room was ok-clean, but a funky odor came from the fridge each time it was opened and musty smell in room bc of AC unit. The couch cushions were pretty shot, but it was just where my toddler hung out while we were there. It was clean, staff was pleasant and helpful with bringing fresh sheets for pullout and towels. Pool looked very nice, but it was still too cool in June to use. I didn't like that there were a ton of trucks parked along road in front... Read more

This hotel which is really a motel is very well kept, clean and has a very friendly staff. It is only two stories and does not have an elevator. The rooms are clean and large with lots of space to move around in. The bathroom was large but had only a shower. Lighting is a bit weak but if all you are doing is sleeping then it is a perfect hotel. The pool was large and very nice. It is a quiet hotel with comfortable beds, a refrigerator and microwave. The hotel is old, but they keep it clean. The staff was very nice and always seemed to have a smile. My room was large, spacious and had kitchenette. However, the kitchen sink leaked. The shower head in the bathroom was damage only allowing the setting to be on a narrow/hard spray. Other benefits included the fact that vouchers were provided for the restaurant which provided really good food.

This is just a basic Ramada Hotel. If you're not going to spend too much time in the room, then the location is convenient for most San Diego attractions and the price is decent. If you will be spending some extra time in your room, then this may not be the place for you.

I stayed at this hotel after naming my price on a 3-star hotel at a popular hotel search site. This development is definitely older and feels much more like a motel. I drove entirely around the site before I realized that the little detached building in front is the office (it was night time). The San Diego North Ramada Inn is really more of a motel than a hotel. My definition of a motel is a facility where the doors open to the outside. However, there are plenty of motels that are very nice. This Ramada Inn is an older property that is very well maintained and is an excellent value in the expensive San Diego summer months. Only downside to our stay was that the wifi wasn't working for a whole day. We called the front desk 4 times asking about the wifi, and after the 4th phone call they gave us the number to the tech support where we had to call in ourselves and fixed it. After we called tech support, wifi was working perfectly fine. It made me wonder whether or not they called tech support... Read more

Overall the hotel was nice. However there was areas that could be improved. First, the restaurant/lounge..great live music however the food was so over-priced that we were one and done.Secondly, the wifi was awful, it wouldn't even let me log into my email service except for very early in the morning. And Thirdly, we were with a large party and enjoyed staying out at night however the weather was rather cool at night and when we asked if they would turn on the patio space heaters we were told th... We stayed here to go to a Chargers game. Great location for this. Not too far from San Diego Centre. It was exceptionally clean and the rooms were modern. It's a motel layout but that is where the motel ends. Everything else was Ramada hotel standard. Great coffee machine that served v hot coffee. Good value for money. Less than $200 for two nights. Great choice of nearby restaurants too.

If you're looking for a high-end hotel with all the amenities, this is not it. However, it was affordable and within 10-15 minutes of all the main tourist attractions. Also plenty of food (e.g., Sonics) and gas nearby. Check-in was easy and staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean, roomy, and comfy. Mini fridge, tv and microwave worked great. Grounds were very peaceful day and night when we were there. No complaints!

I enjoyed staying at the Ramada. The entire hotel is clean; the room I stayed in, the lobby and the pool. You can see they take pride in cleanliness. The bed and pillows were soft and comfortable. I would stay there again.

The rooms are decent. The walls were pretty thin, I heard just about every noise outside my room and it seemed like the people next door and above me never slept. I didnt get much sleep but the staff was very pleasant. I would not say that the place was infested by any means but i did see a few bugs in the bathroom over the course of a few days. Everything was very clean, probably just what happens from time to time. Considering the price and the short notice I can't complain about the room much... Read more

This is a portion of a letter I've emailed to the hotel's general manager. ---------- I am highly disappointed with the manner that the hotel attended to an issue I experienced during my stay (9/23/16 - 9/25/16). On September 25th, 2016, two hours prior to check-out, I unwrapped a toilet paper sitting on the tank to refill the empty roll. Once I pulled off the wrapper, a syringe fell to the floor. I immediately called the front desk to inform the employee what I had come across and the imme... Read more

If you're familiar with sandiego geography, the location of this Ramada facility is amazing. Right next to the 163 and 5 freeways and very private and secluded for comfort. Plenty of parking I would come here again without question. things that could be improved: room has somewhat dim lighting, internet somewhat slow

This motel is simple and quiet. The design is that of a typical roadside motel where the hallways are outside. The rooms are fine. There was a day that we were able to notice that our bed sheets were not changed but we decided not to complain because it was us who had used them the previous night. The shower is basic and there was no bathtub. The shower head was lower than my head and i'm 6 feet. The rooms were clean overall, but the hallways outside the rooms smelled like pee everywhere. The sta... Read more

I enjoyed my stay at the Ramada Hotel San Diego North. The facilities are excellent with clean rooms, a pool, hot tub, outdoor patio and super friendly staff members. There is also a business computer in the lobby for guests to use and always hot coffee and tea available around the clock there as well. Checking in was a breeze as well as checking out. The rooms had a dead lizard that my son found and lucky for me I was able to stop him before he picked it up to play with. The disposal broke when I turned it on. I traveled with my two 19month babies and finding things like this set back the trip. The room was kinda clean but not clean for kids or family's.

I was on a strict budget. If you live like a college student on Ramon soup this hotel is a 5 star steal. If you are the average person it would not be your standard. I paid $125 so for the price and close to the location that I needed to go to I made due. It is off a highway. The photo looks much nicer than it actually is. I will say it was clean.

The hotel room was clean and nice. My issue was when I entered the bathroom. The towels were dirty. One had a dead red gnat looking insect and the other TWO had what looked like poop. It didn't even look like poop that was cleaned first. It looked like it was never washed. I ended up using my shirts to dry myself bc if all three towels were gross, I did not want to even bother asking for new ones.

The Ramada property is large with ample, free parking. This is a big bonus for the San Diego area. The facility is a two story property with room doors leading to the outside. I was pleasantly surprised upon entering my room. The outside of the hotel had not been renovated yet but the insides were. The bathroom was very nice with the double sink and enough space for someone to shower, someone to use the restroom, and two or three other people to brush teeth or get dressed. It was located in a bit of a secluded spot but that made it nice and quiet in the mornings and at night. Room was a little older, not as clean as I had hoped for. I found something looking like a roach in the shower, didn't tell the wife. wan't vacuumed well when we arrived. The pool was great but one night I discovered that someone that was in the hot tub had broken down on the freeway and just walked in. I'd recommend a keyed lock for guests only into the pool area. Grounds were kept up well. Initial service was poor, he kept complaining about a room that wasn't ready for other guests.

The positives: 1. The hotel was retro 1960s style. It reminded me of childhood. There was a pool outside. 2. The hotel was close to the conference I attended at Town and Country. 3. There were fast food restaurants (like Wendy's, McDonalds, Mexican food etc).and gas nearby. 4. The room was a great style, neat and retro cool. 5. The staff were friendly. Our house flooded, so we needed a place to stay for several days while some demolition occurred. Ramada was close by, and I'm happy with our choice. Every staff member we met was friendly and helpful. The rooms were fairly spacious, and they do have refrigerators, which a lot of hotels don't have anymore.. Proud Mary's, the restaurant, served very tasty Southern food. I also want to mention Drake, who checked us in - very professional and personable. Overall, a great experience!
