"My family and I stayed at the Ramada Carlsbad in February while visiting Legoland and the San Diego Zoo. The room was a great value for the price we paid. We were in a suite with 2 double beds and kitchenette and the stay included free hot breakfast each morning. We paid $47 per night, which I think is a pretty good deal, considering that included breakfast for 5 people. Breakfast included an assortment of sliced breads, 2 types of mini muffins, a couple of bagle choices, and about 5 different cereals. There were two waffle makers. Waffles actually tasted pretty good. Yogurt and fruit (apples and oranges) were also on the counter. A variety of beverages ranging from coffee, hot chocoloate, and three different juices were also provided.

The overall cleanliness of the room was ok. Did a bed bug inspection upon arrival and did not find anything, thank goodness! The beds were comfortable. We had maid service each day and I think they did a fairly decent job. If you need more than three large towels, be sure to ask for them at the front desk. The bathroom had nice toiletries. The soap and shampoo had a nice citrus scent.
There is a guest library with a few board games, books, and things. We did not make use of it as we were so busy, but it might be useful info to others.
A nice shopping center is down the street with many restaurant choices.

The biggest con was the freeway noise. It is LOUD! We were in room 301 and even though it faced the pool area, it was still on the freeway side. I would definitely recommend requesting a room on the opposite side of the freeway.
The other downside is that the elevator is in the middle of the complex, so if you have a lot of luggage and/or kids to haul up three flights of stairs, it makes it a bit difficult.

One other thing: they will place a hold on your credit card for $25 for what they call 'incidentals'. We didn't have any issues, so we didn't have to pay that.

"Got a great deal for $55/night. This place was a lot more than I could have hoped for with the price that we paid. Room was clean, staff was friendly and very accommodating, and best of all was the complimentary breakfast which was surprisingly good. The only negative aspect is that it's right next to the I-5 so for anyone who's an extremely light sleeper, beware."

"The Ramada Carlsbad is a fringe property in need of a complete make over.
Rooms are old and frayed although clean. During a 6 day stay, for the last 2 days, there was no maid service at all. Rooms were not cleaned. Beds were not made. Clean towels were obtained from front desk. Linen was changed only twice during the 6 nites.

When attempting to discuss matter with manager at check out, she refused to come to front desk to discuss, instead she sent message saying she was at lunch -It was 11:00 A.M. Not a property I plan to go back to even though I frequent the area."

"Wonderful room at wonderful price! Gentelman during night shift even went the extra mile and searched through the hotel to get me a box of kleenex! Good breakfast buffet also. Very pleased. Pets stay free also. Would definitely stay again as we have now stayed twice. Internet wasn't working is my only negative comment. Kept connecting to La Quinta so you may want to check that out."

"Very nice place and good rooms. Felt like a small one bedroom COZY apartment. Excellent location and seconds away from 5 FWY.
Suggestions: They need to add disposable utensils in the kitchen. We saved a bunch on their free breakfast. I would love to see them add scrambled or boiled eggs since the only hot item was the waffles.
Definitely would love to stay with them again!"
