We booked this hotel through Priceline based on price and location. $122 US per night for 4 nights at the end of April, in the heart of Little Italy, walking distance from almost everything we planned to see and do in the city. Complimentary pick up from the airport was great. The shuttle driver was quick to arrive and extremely friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately that was the end of our good experience with Porto Vista Hotel. We attempted to check in and after several minutes spent strugglin... Read more

This was a last minute trip my family of four and most of the other hotels were fully booked. That being said, this hotel was very clean but the microwave hadn't been dusted in a long while and although the website shows great views, we had a lovely view of the first floor parking area. Their valet service was great.

Though its been years since I have stayed here(circa 2009), it has never really left me with an awful experience. Location is unique in it being there in Little Italy where it has come a long way through the recent efforts of the area being gentrified. With generally pleasing results all around; nearby restaurants, cafe's, bars, and art studio's and galleries dot the area more so than in times of past. Staying a few nights there can be filled with many things to do and see in the area alone with... Read more

We stayed several nights at Porto Vista. The staff, especially the drivers, were very friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable with great mattresses, excellent Wi-Fi, and great location. However, a minor issue - our room lacked outlets for charging electronics. We enjoyed our stay.

Stayed in San Diego for the night and liked the location of this hotel. Right in Little Italy and within walking distance to a few places to get coffee. (Starbucks, 7-11, Café Italia, etc). The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. We only visited the rooftop bar for a nightcap but the bartender was quite pleasant as well. Will definitely consider this hotel on the next trip.

My husband and I came to San Diego for our 5 year wedding anniversary and were excited to stay at a nice hotel. We brought our dog with us and paid their pet fee, which was more reasonable than other hotels, but the rooms we were offered because we had our dog were not ideal. The first room had a door that lead directly to the street. I was not comfortable with the safety of this so the staff was accommodating and allowed us to change rooms. The 2nd room only had a window to the hotel courtyard ... Read more

I have stayed there several times, always for business. When I am done for the day and get back to my hotel, I just want to park my car and walk. Porta Vista is across the street from Little Italy which means a 5 minute walk and I have restaurants and shops all around me. The staff is very nice and professional, the room was always clean, the breakfast was great, and the ambience was very relaxing.

Although I can definitely see why a few people have complained about the motel-like feel, customer service was absolutely fantastic and for the price it was hard to beat. I spent a weekday night for $121 and was upgraded to a suite. The shuttle service will take you to a lot of key spots in the city (e.g. the Fish Market restaurant along the water, Gaslamp Quarter/Horton Plaza, airport, etc.). Breakfast was very good, as it was part of the GlassDoor restaurant upstairs and not your typical hotel... Read more

My kids and I checked in late on Friday evening. We were given a room on the first floor that overlooks a car park which had garbage about it. When we entered the room it was musty and dark. The room needed a deep clean. At 2:00 am there were 2 men screaming and cussing outside our door. This hotel was definitely not a place I felt safe. We checked out first thing in the morning. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Stayed for a week in room 437. Room was ok, but very dark. Beds were comfortable. There was no pool and the hot tub was closed for renovation. Our biggest issue was the front desk staff. Every time we called the front desk for something, it took several calls to get someone to fix issues in our room (broken toilet, light bulbs out over the sink). The smallest yet most expensive room of our trip, although San Diego hotels all seemed a little pricey to be fair. The room was adequate and clean but the one window faced inwards, it was quite dark. Parking is either on the street which can be a nightmare due to the lack of spaces and the restrictions on time, or the hotel valet parking is $25 for 24 hours. Loved the lobby, restaurant, view and location. However, the rooms were small and the inside of the hotel looks like a motel, not hotel. It was a decent room for the price, considering the area competitors. The room was tiny but recently updated. Very grimy around the edges. The hotel looked so nice online, that I was looking forward to the stay, although it was super expensive (over $500/night during Comic-con week). However, when I arrived, I was so disappointed in the rooms. The rooms look like they are from a remodeled Motel 6 motel- no kidding. Our family enjoyed our three night stay starting on a Friday night. Parking is a challenge in Little Italy even the pay lots get filled. With a little patience, we were able to find street parking but watch the parking restrictions. I rated the beds a "4" not a "5" because I like softer pillows. Service was great though the maid service left out soap. The breakfasts at the Glass Door restaurant were good and the view, fabulous.

Location is the best feature of this hotel. I thought the carpark for $25 was a bit expensive taking into account all the parking spaces available on the streets nearby. I chose a king bedroom which was very spacious. Looking at the hotel from outside it looks nice and modern but once you get out of the elevator you see itâ??s old. Breakfast had just 2 fruit variety.
