I would stay here again. Newly renovated. I had some major dental surgery here in San Diego I stayed at the Howard Johnson's Mission Valley Express they took of my needs while I was staying there. The freeway is a little noisy during rush hour and morning traffic otherwise I would stay at the Howard Johnson's Express Inn in Mission Valley again

The stay began rough with not enough towels for two people. The Assistant Manager was cooperative to give us the needed towels. The bed was comfortable - I slept through the night ( 6 hrs.). Continental breakfast was sufficient to start my day. I would come here again.

The hotel in general is in very bad disrepair. Without going into major detail the weather stripping for the room that we had allowed all the outside noises, (freeway) to come right in, resulting in a very noisy night's sleep. It was horrible.

Well there are nothing on walls, barewalls just feel weird. There was 4 of us in a 2Double bed rooms BUT yet only one set of towels and 4 very small pillows that were flat when you put your head on them. The shower head was falling apart. Kinda disappointed in this stay. Sorry.

The hotel, while older, had the basics for a clean, comfortable night's stay in the area we wished to be in --not far from Balboa Park.

The room looked clean until I looked at The bed . The blanket and cover had what looked like caked on food or something worse! It was so obvious that housekeeping had to have seen it as they were making the bed.

I have tried unsuccesfully to speak with a manager on 3 occassions to remedy my situation with my room. First, the room was under construction and had no mirror or screens on the windows and smelled strongly of paint fumes. When these issues were brought to the attention of the desk clerk, no accommodation was made to move rooms or bring up a mirror. I had to leave the unscreened window open to air out the strong odor of paint fumes and could hear freeway traffic all night. The manager has y... Read more

Once checking in and reading all of the papers they had me sign, I noticed that one paper said that I would not be able to change rooms after 10 minutes of checking completely in. After the process was complete, and entering my room (about 5 minutes after check in since we were on the 4th floor), my boyfriend and I noticed that the room we were given had not been cleaned at all. In panic, we ran downstairs, leaving all of our luggage in the room, to tell them that they gave us a room that was no... Read more

We did not like the hotel. Our room was not cleaned the next day and no towels were brought to our room and they did not make the beds. It was noisy. We will not go back. We told the front desk about our room not being taken care and the one clerk acted like he didn't care. When we checked out we were asked about our stay and we told the clerk our room was not cleaned the next day. He said he was sorry and he would get to the bottom of it. We left.

This hotel everything is very old, the matresses, carpets, walls with patches, the basin water returns to the basin, the tv remote control doesn''t work, the tv operation is manual and only you can watch one channel, etc, etc. Important to say that the window glasses doesn't avoid the noise of freeway 8.

The room I was originally given was horrible - I wouldn't even have had my dog sleep in it. There was a side window with towels stuffed into the torn screens. The curtain over the window had been ripped in numerous places and was put together with long nails (apparently they didn't have any straight pins to use). There was no door on the bathroom, just a dirty sheet hanging over the doorway. I was given another room, which was better, but not worth the $150 for the night. Carpet was stained... Read more

We were on the top floor, right what seems to be the familiy that owns this joins personal residents and it smelled bad like spices! We had a room that seems like it was under construction. The peep hole was missing in the door, leaving a giant hole in the foor without any safety! The door would not lock because it was not aligned with the door frame. Cheapest Wyndham in SD. No frills, but I didn't pay for thrills. In the middle of a remodel, so some things were "missing" - like the hair dryer in the room. But that is to be expected for the price and the remodel.

He wouldn't let me check in earlier than 3pm. Which is fine I get it. But then at 3pm I show up and my room is still not ready. I'm beyond pissed off by this time. Check-in was quick. Front-desk staff were friendly and helpful. Location was convenient, very close to Old Town and Mission Valley commercial area. These are just about the only positives. A/C was working fine but water was dripping, badly needs cleaning. Breakfast was basically cereals. TV was too grainy. Wi-fi was slow. Bed and pillows were ok but the room was generally old and really needed updating.

We stayed here because nothing else was left in town for a big baseball tourney. The hotel was very old and outdated. There were patches on the walls, water damage in the bathrooms, I had to pry the faucet on to turn the shower on. You can see the light around the door frame as its not sealed. It smelled musty. When we first arrived we were placed in a room that had dirty furniture, the ceiling in the bathroom was covered in mold and leaking, the tub was peeling. We complained and they moved us to a new room that was at least functional and no mold or cut and dirty furniture. They said they were in the process of remodeling and I am thankful they did their best to work with us, but I will not be staying here again.

If $60-80, I wouldnt mind this place. The staff is great. But rickety old elevator, no closet or dresser or headboards, and low-grade linens made our stay one-step-above-camping. A small step.

As I came in tot he hotel office the first thing the clerk asked license and credit card, not a how you doing, how was your trip, but straight to business. check in - no towels in room, had to ask twice to get 2 towels. Sunday morning fire alarms go off in the entire building. Apparently the FD scheduled an 'unscheduled' visit and decided Sunday morning was the best time to wake everyone up. This lasted for over an hour. Yhe room above us had children running and jumping. Called office, nothing happened. Check out - fine. We did not have a good stay, others may have.
