The Ghost of Kate Morgan
What Victorian resort would be complete without a resident ghost? Kate Morgan checked into the resort on November 25, 1892, and never checked out. Reports of ghostly happenings, all thought to be connected to the death of this beautiful young woman, have been circulating at The Del ever since.

We did a walk through, and walk by outside while visiting. It is gorgeous! You can't view much inside other then the main lobby, and shops inside now. I had read you could ride the elevator, but not any more. It is in beautiful condition and well worth the drive over the bridge to see. Parking on the street by the visitor Center is cheap, but you need quarters to feed the machine.

If I were to rate the hotel, especially the gorgeous Victorian building, the location on the stunning beach, the beautiful views and idyllic setting, I would rate the Hotel Del 4-5 stars. However, the exorbitant costs, extra fees and inconsistent service lets this beautiful place down. Now, there is nothing wrong with spending the extra money if it is justified, but I always felt like the costs here did not justify the service offered. I also did stay here for 7 nights, so my experiences were n... Read more

Stayed here while attending a business conference, which the hotel handled very well. The ocean is right there, beautiful beach, short walk away from the business section of town with lots of restaurants. Our room was spacious and well furnished, in the more modern 7 story tower. Staff were excellent and solicitous. The only negatives were a noisy air conditioning system that woke us up two nights out of three, and a lack of sound insulation that brought every conversation in the corridor and s... Read more

We always go to "The Del" We stay in a room on the water with a patio in front and we have grass and flowers in the front and we walk to the beach right off the patio. We can hear the waves crashing and see the beautiful beach. Nice walk to the airforce base on the beach. The pool and jaccuzi are right outside the door and we always use them. We just love to relax on the patio and enjoy the beautiful weather and all the sites. They have a nice pizza restaurant outside with a cool ambiance . You... Read more

I am an old soul and history lover. Not only does this hotel have history, but my parents had their wedding reception there so it was on my list to go to. My boyfriend and I went together to celebrate New Years and I have never been so disappointed in a hotel. We stayed in Beach Village, and I had requested an early check-in. We arrived at 11:30am. Now, our room was booked, not their fault, but they gave us a time frame to come back and check which was 2:00pm. To kill time, we grabbed a drink ... Read more

I first took my granddaughter to th Del in 2005. Was impressed back then.... I have been back several times since ,and each year it feels more like a very special treat in my life.... like going home to visit family... the beach... the people... both employees at The Del... whom I have recognized over the years , and the local people of Coronado... yes it is expensive... however.... never in your face...which is what I appreciate.... no stuffiness.... just good, honest , relaxation..... which i... We took a ride over the Coronado Bridge to see North Island and Coronado Island and decided to end the day with a cocktail and sunset at the Hotel Del. We did not stay here but walked through main building and enjoyed reading about some of its history. The beautiful woodwork alone is worth seeing. We strolled through some of the lovely shops and ended up at a bar on the beach. The beach was beautiful groomed and the waves were calm. This is definitely on our radar as a place to stay on our ... This hotel has amazing history and is a bit dated, but it's located right on the beach and they offer so many amenities. We stayed in the main building (they have new construction beach houses that are gorgeous). We used the pool, spa, salon, restaurants and beach. We were attending a sales club event, so they hosted a happy hour on the green, clambake on the beach with DJ & bonfires and awards banquet in their ballroom. It's situated close to downtown Coronado so you can walk and we also re... Read more

My wife and I wanted to visit the hotel (we did not stay there). While there we decided to have some lunch at the Hotel Del Sheer Water (or something like that). It was downstairs with a nice ocean view. The Meal was simply off the chart. My wife and I agreed that it was a good as any meal we had ever had out. The service was 2nd to none. We had the goat cheese and pesto's for an appetizer, scallops for the main course and pineapple upside down cake that rivaled your mom's. I am not sure what ... Read more

First time to visit San Diego at the hotel Del. Absolutely loved it The services at the Del were top notch. Andrew the Elevator operator made our experience so much more memorable. The staff was so friendly and very professional. Would recommend highly staying there especially if it's your first visit to the area. Perfect place to watch the sunset
