The Ghost of Kate Morgan
What Victorian resort would be complete without a resident ghost? Kate Morgan checked into the resort on November 25, 1892, and never checked out. Reports of ghostly happenings, all thought to be connected to the death of this beautiful young woman, have been circulating at The Del ever since.

Being honest, we didn't spend a night in this exquisite hotel, but we dined, shopped, strolled the grounds, admired the gardens, walked along the shore, and felt like royalty. The staff, concierge, and shop keepers are generous in their kindness. Recommend you park in their lot for a nominal fee, or valet park. The Sunday Brunch is pricey, but we strongly recommend it! Whatever you do don't miss this magnificent hotel!

I give this hotel a lofty review, even though I have not stayed overnight. I visited twice, spending several hours on the property each time. It is so beautiful! I love the look of the historic white building with its prominent red roof and turrets. The building is spectacular inside and out, and the beach is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. I love to gaze out to the water and see the cliffs of Point Loma in the distance, to the right, and then when I look far to the left I can ... Read more

The Hotel del is an institution. We had a great time staying (it was our first) here...the elevator fascinated our boys (ages 6&10 at the time). The grounds were amazing, the pool & beach were fun and the vibe was old school cool. Our room was a little worn - but we considered that to be part of the charm. I convinced myself by the end of our trip that our hallway was haunted - that freaked out my kids big time! Ha! We really had a wonderful time - I would recommend it to anyone. I'm so glad we ... We love going to the Hotel Del. It is great place to unwind and relax. Coronado Beach is my favorite beach in all of San Diego. It is clean, the pool is always heated and the jacuzzi is big enough to accommodate many guests. Service is great. The shops are a fun place to browse and/or pick up some Hotel Del unique items. We usually stay here a couple of times a year. It is a little pricey, but so worth it.

This hotel is almost an institution .. it has been around for 128 years. Was on a 5 day business event, for my first visit. It is about 25 min on shuttle bus from the airport, these were event specific shuttles so can‚??t comment on usual shuttle. Check-in was efficient, staff pleasant, and were helpful whenever I had question during my stay, I had a room in the main hotel .. there are separate 'blocks' so don't get your choice wrong. I was on floor 5 ... there is a single elevator ... a larg... Read more

My wife and I have stayed at the Hotel Del many times before, and have always received outstanding service. This past weekend we booked a basic courtyard room. If you use a Signature travel agent, the package is really pretty reasonable, as you get a room upgrade, the amazing breakfast buffet free for two and a $100 spa credit. As with all of the best resorts, the Del recognized our previous patronage. Their system, which works very well, is that your name is taken when you pull up to the gu... Read more

The Hotel Del is beautiful at the holidays. We planned 3 days and 2 nights for our family of 4 and in that plan was our dogs were going to be boarded and the Petsmart dog hotel in our city. When we went to check the dogs in Petsmart had lost our reservation and they could not accommodate both our dogs. We called the Del and they happily moved us to a dog friendly room and welcomed our pups. We have two dogs one that is 32lbs and one that is 40lbs. They aren't small but the Hotel was happy ... Rating just average for the following reasons: We have stayed at the Hotel del Coronado three times. We chose to return to this particular hotel during our last stay in Coronado because our past two experiences had been so absolutely amazing. Several things were disappointing upon our recent stay. Our room was not cleaned properly after the departing guests left (cheerios still on the carpet), and we had to find a hotel attendant in the hallway to come back to vacuum. We were told bottled w... Was there for a conference, but couldn't take advantage of the amenities. The location of the bus stop to San Diego for the conference was communicated to me and many other guests incorrectly which caused the 30 minute trip to take one hour. Hotel room was slightly worn and average but the location right on the ocean was great.

I was lucky enough to experience a company education event here with hundreds of my friends and colleagues. Granted, we didn't get the full tourist routine, and didn't try much of the food options as it was all catered - so the review is focused on the staff and the rooms. First of all, the rooms. The hotel is broken into three buildings, each of a different era. Most of us all want to stay in the old, charming original, but with 550 people, this just isn't an option. For those who stayed i...
