Great place. For once, the hotel beds are nice to sleep in and the pillows were not too hard. I will always stay here. Also the off season prices were reasonable' Thanks, Again ! The new windows keep out a lot of the traffic, also. It's nice to have doors that positivly close and the door card is very easy to activate the security lock.

An update that falls short. The owners have tried to put a shine on the facility. The hotel design is dated. Amenities, and particularly room size are not up to modern standards. Extremely noisy due to heavy traffic. Lots of better choices in the area.

Great location near the road but without the noise. You don't have to walk far to get something to eat or drink. Efren was really kind, he gave us a better room than the one we booked. The room was nice and clean and the beds were big. We liked it a lot.

The room itself was clean. The staff was very nice. However, although the sheets appeared clean, they should have been bleached whiter, as there were some faint old stains, and the sheets themselves were a bit rough. The towels could have been a bit fluffier, and a chair and some hangers would have been nice. The bathroom was very nicely designed. But, the room was so small that the air conditioner was right on top of the bed, and it was noisy. I would however stay there again for a busin... Read more

Aqua Mar wants to be an up scale modern Hotel - but falls short. This is not a "newly constructed hotel", as the website says, but a remodeled motel located on busy Rosecrans Street - traffic noise all night long. My room was 203 and did not face the busy road, but traffic noise was loud. The plumbing was loud, the guests in the room next to mine decided to take a shower at 12:30 am - that woke me up and my bathroom door creaked really loud. The bed was soft and rolled to the middle. The furnit... Read more

Great for a one night stay. Parking was a bit challenging. The lot was completely full when I arrived. I ended up parking a few blocks away. The room was small but great. Perfect for a solo traveller. Room was clean, the bed was comfortable. I liked the modern decor. The only thing I would have liked was coffee available in the room.

The rooms were small, but did have all I needed. A bed, Tv, hanging rack and a perfect mirror in the restroom. The front desk clerk was very helpful. The only thing I did not like was the smell of the room, but it wasnt a deal breaker. Everything was clean.

As advertised. Nicely remodeled, clean, small, comfy, kinda loud street. One block from AMAZING restaurant at the Pearl, and next door is rad coffee and breakfast at Better Buzz Coffee. Lots of quality restaurants and bars within walking distance and right across the street from Fisherman's Landing.

We brought our AZ Troop over for a weekend at the beach and had the best time and loved the location, ease and cleanliness of the hotel. Not too shabby to have Buzz Coffee right out the door too. Thanks for everything!. We will probably return and stay again!

The hotel is adequate. It has been remodeled so the surfaces, fixtures, decor, and bedding are fresh and modern. The staff was pleasant and welcoming; they get and A+. The new fixtures were poorly installed and many loose, and the plastic chandelier fell to pieces when my husband barely touched it with his head when he bent over to plug in his phone. We let the front desk know about the issues so as not to be charged for any damages. They apologized and understood. The room is tiny with no clo... Read more

This place is truly amazing! It wasn't just up to date, it was modern. They took a lot of time and effort putting the rooms together. It is a fantastic price and definitely worth the stay. The room was small as expected for an older hotel, but the comfort level was over the top. It is as supposed to be, you sleep in it and get ready then go out and enjoy your day in and around San Diego. I must also say the customer service is over the top. Any questions we had, she was able to answer and she is... Read more

The hotel is a tastefully remodeled older building that is clean and tastefully decorated in a minimalist style. This suited my needs very well as I was sailing out of the San Diego Yacht Club all weekend. If you're accustomed to 'chain' hotels you might find the lack of coffee in the room an issue. I would have liked to see a nightstand beside the bed to put my phone on. I liked the overall tiled floor which added to the fresh, clean look of the room! As others have noted the towels are a ... Do NOT go here! My boyfriend and I checked in at 5 pm, the hotel was doing a lot of construction. I had to call a number that was posted on their locked lobby door to get service. Once checked in, got to the room, set our bags down, then headed out to downtown San Diego for a night of food and bowling. Returned back to the room at 11 pm, and as I always do, I checked the mattress for bed bugs. Was appalled when I not only found them, but stained sheets as well. Instantly went to the lobby and ye... This place is a dump. Came for a business trip during comic con weekend. Paid a very high rate but saw the pictures and thought this one will be worth it. Pictures lie. Yes, those things are present, but in person it does not look like that. It is dirty, dingy and tiny. The TV is 40 inches, but it is slanted at a 40 degree angle so you can not really watch it comfortably. Staff is okay, but they may not clean your room until dinner time so if you go out in the morning and come back at 4pm don't ... Read more

When I got to the hotel, the door to the lobby was locked and there was a sign saying "busy on the property with another guest". I walk into a blistering hot, foul smelling room to find a light bulb out, cob webs, stained towels and sheets, holes in the pillow cases and sheets, a past guests fingernail on the bed frame along with hair and dust. The couch was stained as well. The bathroom was tiny and the floor was filthy. It took me five minutes to realize that I was not going to be staying here... Read more

Other TripAdvisor reviews warned us of two things: that this was an old(er) motel and that there was a lot of noise coming from the street it was on (Rosecrans Street). After spending two nights there, we can say the following: It is indeed an older motel but it received a very thorough makeover recently. The rooms are now done in retro modern style, very nice! Our room came equipped with a large enough flat screen tv, fridge and microwave. About the other complaint: letā??s just say that thereā... Read more

Small rooms, but very affordable and very clean rooms. Perfect for a little get-a-way when you won't need to be in the room much. Enjoyed the stay and the staff. The location was great...close to the water and near the downtown attractions.

No closet, night stands, chairs, table, coffee pot or carpet. Just a bed and a TV mounted on the wall with a narrow shelf beneath. A hanging lamp and recessed lights. That is it! The bathroom was small, but the shower was good. The towels are still too thin and too few. That being said, the place was clean and in good order. The staff was polite and helpful. More towels and an iron and ironing board produced on request. The AC was quiet and cold. The location is wonderful and convenient. If... Read more

This was a cute find. Perfect for a late night find with intentions of a single night. Comfortable, simple and clean. It definitely is not the typical fancy hotel - no tub, no blow dryer. My room the shower head was finicky but it angled and ran not crazy water pressure but was a nice stand up shower space & water stayed warm- enjoyed it & I definitely would stay again for a daycation. Great location!

A great modern hotel in the Ocean Beach area of San Diego. Modern rooms with large screen TVs that are nicely decorated. Only thing that would have made the stay better was if the hotel had a pool for guests to use - - otherwise, you can't beat it for the price!

It was a nice room but overpriced because the room is so small. It didn't have a closet or even a phone to phone the front desk. If they lower their price a little then the room would be worth it. After we checked out we went to another hotel 6 miles away for 25 dollars more and that one was bigger and had more amenities. So overall it's an ok place just not for me.

Spent the night after fishing in San Diego. The gal at the front desk was very sweet and helpful. She went out of her way to have my room prepared for early check in and was very attentive and friendly to make sure everything was satisfactory. I have stayed at several hotels in the area and Aqua Mar is the nicest place for the money around there.

The room was very clean, the bed comfortable and well made and the interior of the room and bathroom are interesting (it was clean clean clean, there is soap and shampoo on the shower wall which was a welcomed detail.), sort of trendy modern design. The A/C unit is on the small side and took a bit to cool but nothing major, it worked like a charm the whole night, not too noisy (just a bit but not too much). There's a TV with a cable box and a lot of channels. I asked for an Iron and a board and... Read more

The toilet in the room was broken. The manager was unavailable; no maintenance person on site and the desk clerk was at a loss for how to handle the situation. We ended up staying somewhere else. But here's the kicker--the hotel refused to refund our money. Aside from that, the room was tiny. There's no closet--just some hooks next to the bed. Also, no amenities which are typically found in hotel rooms such as shampoo and conditioner, coffee maker. To top it off, this hotel is no bargain... Read more

This boutique hotel was clean and in a good location for us but the rooms are super small and not very quiet. Though we were out all day and just stayed one night, we could hear neighbors, people upstairs and people outside; obviously isn't too well insulated. The room did not have enough space to move on both sides of the bed so we had to pull the bed away from the wall so we could both get out. If you just need a place to sleep, no frills, this would be okay for the price.

I love the bathroom, the windows, the view from the second floor. I love the size of the tv & how many channels I can watch. The problems were the pillows & the bed. It could've been more softer, but I did get enough sleep from the room. Also, I love the mini fridge & the microwave.
