I found out after 6:00PM that I had been booked for a room in San Francisco instead of San Diego-may have been my fault, but not sure. Their reservations line was incredibly helpful in getting me moved to the correct city and cancelling my previous reservation. I want to give a big shout out to Art, who was the desk manager at the Holiday Inn Express-San Diego Airport-old town. I have never met someone in the hotel business as friendly and helpful, and I have stayed in some high end places. ... Read more

It's a Holiday Inn Express. You know what you're getting. Overall though the rooms were clean and well sized, the shower water was hot and had good pressure, the complimentary breakfast had diverse offerings with both reasonably healthy options and comfort options. Everything worked. The airport pickup and drop off was prompt (even though my flight was delayed four times and 12 hours) and the drivers friendly. They even held my bags after I checked out so I could catch an Uber and sightsee a lit... Read more

Friendly welcome from Jose on reception. Room was not huge, but comfortable and spotless. Our room was not on the freeway side, so was quiet. Breakfast was the usual HIE experience, but adequate. The hotel offered all sorts of shuttle buses to numerous 'tourist' areas. Parking was free. Very close, 10 min walk, to Old Town and the Old Town State Park.....which was brilliant.

The personnel is friendly and helpful. The lady in charge of breakfast, Dolores, and drivers Steven, Ivan and Fernando are awesome and have great customer service skills. This hotel was comfortable and clean. Our window was right at the freeway, and it was still pretty quiet at night. If the noise had been too much, we would've requested a room change, but it was fine. This is maybe a three to five minute walk away from the main part of Old Town and just across the freeway from the airport. We could also see the water from our room. Also a stop for the HOHO trolley, which was great fun. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful. Breakfast was free and adequate for our needs. On the second morning th... Room rates are low (relative to downtown), and parking and shuttle rides to and from downtown and the airport are free. Staff members are courteous and helpful. One downside is the 10 lanes of traffic noise from I-5 right outside my window in room 350. (An "ocean surf" soundtrack takes care of that.) Another is that the room smells a little musty. The staff was very helpful and willing to help us find area attractions suited to our tastes. They were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was clean and had a well-stocked variety store. But the staff was truly exceptional. They looked up places on maps and the computer for us, called a cab for us, and truly tried to make our short time as enjoyable as possible. The hotel itself is a basic Holiday Inn Express; pool, fair sized rooms, decently kept up; but, the staff make it a great place.

I arrived today for a one night stay at the San Diego Holiday Inn Express Airport Old Town. Upon arrival I was not only greeted with a welcoming smile by Elia and Vangie but also received great customer service. Elia, asked if I was traveling and I explained I had a rental and offered me a great solution. My flight is leaving at 6 am which means I would have to drop off the car by 3:30 am and would have to wait for the shuttle to the airport. Elia, told me that wasn't a problem to drop off the c... This hotel is situated with a good harbor view. They had a nice patio area where we sat and looked at the harbor and the airport. The only down side is that it is right on the expressway. Be sure and ask for a room facing away from the harbor so you get less traffic noise. Really appreciated the free shuttle service from the airport, to the restaurant downtown and back, and to the cruise port. It is near some great local restaurants. We tried a fresh seafood restaurant that was great and saw man... Read more

I came to San Diego for work and stayed for an extended period of time. The service was top notch. The complimentary breakfast every morning is well prepared. The rooms are excellent and well taken care of. The staff is experienced, friendly and very professional. Their knowledge of the area and sights to visit are well above average! They provide complimentary shuttle services to local areas, attractions and the airport. A huge thanks to Josh, Kylene, Vangie, Elia, and Art for their hospitality... Read more

Once again we had an outstanding stay. We visit this Hotel 4-5 times a year to watch Charger football. This past Sunday was the home opener, and when we arrived at the front desk Vangie was there to welcome us back. We had some issues with a reservation and she pleasantly straightened everything out for us. We arrived at 9:00 AM, but she made sure that our rooms where ready for us. We travel down to San Diego often for Chargers games. It is usually a very quick trip, but we are always delighted to see our friends at Holiday Inn Express Old Town. Fernando usually picks us up at the airport and is always waiting with a smile. If he is not our driver, he usually finds us once we get to the hotel to say hi and see how we are doing and takes us to Old Town Transit on our way to the game. This was a very nice place to stay. It is Old Town, very close to a lot of the San Diego attractions. The staff was very accommodating.( Elia ) checked us in very quickly and made sure we had everything we needed. The room was rather small but very clean and it was pretty new. The staff gave us a restaurant guide and the shuttle driver (Steven) took us to dinner and (Alex) picked us up when we were done. We would definitely stay there again.

Our first night was in room 300, it was really bad for the hubby because of the highway noise. Then we asked for a switch, we moved to 266 in the new section, next to the pool. However, no matter where we were the staff was extradorinary. The breakfast was the best we have ever had. There was something for everyone, vegetarians included. Even with a Marine graduation every weekend and to still have wonderful, friendly, and helpful staff is a 5 star plus hotel.

Want to send our greatest gratitude to the Shuttle drivers, Fernando, Alex and Nawlfa. These three men were the most efficient, friendly, prompt, helpful and courteous men we have ever had the chance to come in contact with. We have traveled quite a bit but have never been treated so very well. They deserve a huge pat on the back and kuddos from us who have never experienced such a warm welcome and made our transports very relaxing and on time. Great job.

This hotel is close to the airport and the Marine Recruit SD where we attended our grandson's graduation. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. Our room was large, clean and quite comfortable. It had 2 luggage racks which was a plus. This part of the hotel had been renovated and the bathroom had a great shower. Breakfast was good, plenty tables for seating, and a good layout for the food. If you do not have a car, the shuttles offer wonderful service to many locations.
