The actual hotel is quite nice, the pool is lovely but needs a clean. The restaurant is very posh and the staff were also good to us. The rooms really need work though- they stink of mould, the hard wood floors were dusty and the bathrooms were tiny! The actual bath is 30cms tall- so its more like a deep shower tray. We asked for an upgraded room months in advance and were told it had been done. After a 6 hour drive from Vegas we were told we didn't have the upgrade we wanted and the lady on rec... Read more

We were put in the Villa Grande building. Let me tell you, nothing grand about this unit. Do not get room 180. Ground level. Our bed faced parking lot and we could not open curtains because people walking by could see your bed and you in it! Our room was dark and nothing more than a glorified 2 star motel. I must say if you were in other buildings the grounds are very nice. My wife wanted to leave after the second day. I spoke with the manager, Bruce, and he was extremely professional and put us... We opted not for the upgrade ($30 additional dollars a night) and were very pleased with our port/Coronado Bridge view. The pool was nice, clean, and heated. Our room was spacious and clean. Love the location. The staff, grounds, and service were great. Paid way too much ($36) to park my car on the other side of the complex. The bed was awful. Felt old and beat. If I would have laid down after check in and didn't get back to my room so late I would have asked for a different room or bed. My back hurt the entire next day!!

It would be difficult to find a more convenient hotel to more "must see" attractions than this Hilton resort. Within stone's throw (okay, maybe 2-3) are Sea World and the world-famous Old Town. At Sea World, we enjoyed all the "stand-out" attractions, as well as a less-known act featuring trained dogs and cats who are "98% rescues." The location of this hotel in GREAT. That being said, the bar/food is terribly expensive, the bar service is unbelievably slow, and when I ordered room service I was charged 2 separate fees on top of my bill (which was $24 and I ended up paying $49). After I checked out in the morning via phone, I got a text from the hotel 2 hours later saying that I never checked out. Luckily I was able to get that taken care of in a timely manner.

You can walk right out to the bay, rent paddle boards and kayaks (in my opinion when you call yourself a resort that should be included, but That's not the case here or some other places), walk along Mission Bay, which is just lovely and we walked down to some swings for my kids to play on. I generally enjoy Hilton properties for their reliably good quality and service. This particular property, however, needs some updating. Nothing major - beds were typical Hilton beds, pool was fine, not spectacular, grounds were well kept but average. For a resort property and the price, I could have been easily impressed but wasn't. There are parts and aspects to this hotel that are quite nice, but others may detract from your experience. It's okay for a conference, but don't pay the high rack rates. Like you will read in many reviews here..... - Parts of the hotel need refurbishing. - many rooms (it seems especially near the water) are musty. The tower seems newer, dryer.) - internet sucks. Just sucks. - in-room coffee is unacceptably bad. Staff is great. Super friendly and helpful. Can't beat the location.

Location is great, right on mission bay, with plenty of toys to rent. Water front rooms are excellent in their view of the water. I had a walk-out ground level with fire ring. Restaurant and staff is superior. Rooms have had some cosmetic updates, but core is old and aged.

This property is a gem: a classic resort in a great location with mission bay beach access. The staff and crew onsite were amazing - *everyone* provided the most professional service. You can easily tell that Hilton has a seasoned and smart team here. We booked a villa room: the veranda was a great place to relax during the day and night. The room itself could benefit from another dose of refresh and renovation (especially the bathrooms). The wiring and decor could be updated as well (e.g., no... Read more

We stayed here 8 nights for a business meeting and conference. Our room faced the waterfront and was very nice. The room was large enough for two adults (not partnered). If I was to recommend any changes there would be two: More lighting for the evening. It was dim at best. The bathroom needs more towel holders; either more hooks or bars. Also, there wasn't enough room for two toiletry bags.

Worst Internet access of any hotel I've ever stayed at. They gave us several different ways to access, all disappointing. Even the operator admitted, "our baud rate is not what it should be." At a HILTON? C'mon, you're not Motel 6. At the high room rate, exorbitant parking fee ($39@night), no free shuttle to anywhere, the least you could offer is decent standard Internet. Decor felt dated, upkeep so-so. Surprised at this, given the price. Staff was pleasant. Food fine, but overpriced ... Read more

Below average resort. Expensive, as well. Restaurant food is overpriced. Not great food. They also charge $36 a day to self park your car. On top of that there is a $25 resort fees. Then all kinds of fees will be charged to your credit card. Nothing special about the rooms. Quality Inn type of rooms. Not going back there again.

San Diego was so beautiful that my husband and I paid to extend our stay an extra day. Since we weren't planning on staying, we checked out of our original hotel and decided to stay close to the airport. Because we are familiar with the Hilton brand, we chose the Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa. The view of the marina from our window was AMAZING and the our stay was totally RELAXING.

This resort includes rooms in the main tower as well as rooms that open onto private garden / beach area. We stayed in the tower and enjoyed the balcony view of the gardens and surroundings. This is not a new hotel, but includes all the amenities that made it a comfortable stay - comfy beds, TV, refrigerator, desk, balcony, bathroom amenities, nice coffee shop, good restaurant with bay view and wonderful pool area. We travelled as a family of three two adults and one child age 11 and had 4 nights in the Hilton. The parking fees were $36 per day despite the hotel and car park being empty and this along with the over priced food & drinks and daily resort fees left us with a bill for over $700 and that was with a free breakfast for our son no lunches we went out everyday and a couple of evening meals! They also refused to allow us to extend our check out by 2 hours unless we paid an additional $75.00 and eve... Read more

The Hilton Hotel on Mission bay has beautiful grounds and wonderful friendly staff. The weather was great, sun shine and mild, not too hot. Very accommodating and the rooms were beautiful. The conference rooms were very comfortable and the food in the restaurant was delicious. The view from my room in the tower was great overlooking the bay with spectacular sunsets. I don't like this hotel because of the following problems that I experienced: 1. the parking gate was very hard to operate with their parking key. When I called for help at the parking gate, one time I sit there for over 2 minutes waiting for someone to answer my call to open the gate so I could get out. 2. the refrigerator didn't work at first. 3. When I called for assistance to enter my room after I got a voice mail that my dog was barking, took me over 40 minutes to get into my room, and mor... Read more

We chose the Hilton San Diego Mission Bay for an extended weekend getaway and we'd go back. It made an excellent base for our expeditions all over San Diego and cities in the area. We had a Bayside room, which had a view of the water and a little balcony. The waterfront motel-style part of the hotel looked nondescript from the outside, but the bedroom and bathroom were well-appointed, spacious and modern. No stay goes without a hitch, but we were very satisfied with the pains that they took t... Read more

For a 4 star resort and spa, the facilities and service are not up to that level. For example, having to pay for access to the pool and WiFi is ridiculous. Also, do not go during off season. While less crowded, there is less staffing and you don't have the same things such as pool side food.

We visited San Diego in August for a short family get away. As a Hilton Diamond member, thought we'd try this resort for the 5 days. Mistake. The location is central to getting out and about in San Diego, but the resort itself is just not good. The "beach" is gross- the bay water is stagnant and fetid and I would never go in that water. The pool was overcrowded and dirty. You know the kind with tons of kids screaming with their band aids floating in it? There was no private adults area. ... Read more

I travel all of the time and this place has phenomenal service. I knew I was in for Something special while standing in line. The concierge convinced a guest to sing opera for us. She wasn't warmed up and was spectacular. Our concierge was a man who celebrated personal connections. Gordon Berry is among the top two concierges I have worked with. There is a colleague in Sidney that is equally competent. His advise gave us a day that is memorable in so many ways. And our housekeeping service was ... Read more

The towels were a fantastic size, they covered your entire body!!! There was a 2 inch gap under our door to our room, so we could hear EVERYTHING that happened in the hallway, even foot steps that kept us up all night. They cut off our key card on accident and we had no access to our room or the pool until it was figured out why. It would be beneficial to your guests if you provide robes to go to and from the pool/hot tub as well as a full length mirror. Suggesting to move the lamp by the mirror... Read more

Aside from a couple of room cleanliness issues, in which the exemplary staff handled very quickly, this hotel assisted me with relaxation levels I have not experienced in quite a while. The restaurant/in room dining and bar are very creative and very delicious. I loved the semi-private fire pit outside your back sliding glass doors that faces the lagoon. Within minutes of major attractions and downtown festivities.

The hotel had everything you need in a hotel but didn't live up to its Hilton brand. Location in Mission Bay was excellent but the facility is a little worn and there weren't exciting activities going on on-site. If you go, make it a high priority to visit the concierge, Gordon Berry- he knows everything about San Diego and who's who and what's what and he'll set you up with great restaurants, events, and multiple ideas. Good hotel but for the price of our room, I've had much better.

Service at the front desk was not good for check in. Had to wait for my room for 2 hours. Parking fee of $36 a night is ridiculous and breakfast is overpriced. In addition, room was very dated and kind of pathetic for calling themselves a resort. I have had better stays at the Homewood suites.
