The hotel is located on the edge of the Gaslamp district and across the street from the convention center. Rooms are very spacious and well appointed. Very convenient to all attractions. Only wish the bar and restaurant were open later as they closed at 10 and we got in after 11 and needed some late dinner.

This is the first Hilton I've stayed at where there's an app for your room key (optional). The location is great for the baseball park and for some shopping and nightlife. The staff were nice and helpful. The noise from the trolleys and street didn't bother me. I even slept with the windows open.

My $350 that promised a great stay with a whirl pool bath did not work and it was my Birthday. When I complained to the front clerk she never offered me any other accommodation but just a simple sorry and that it would be fixed for the next guest. Really!? What about this paying guest standing in front of you? I will never go for an upgrade again, it's a waste of money.

In town for a conference. Booked a room facing the convention center on a high floor. Great view! Prepaid the stay-- something I rarely do-- so I got a good rate, too. Upgraded the room for around $10/day, totally worth it. Room was comfy, and the A/C worked great. I like to keep my room on the cooler side, especially when it is warm outside. I had a suite, and I appreciated having an A/C unit with separate thermostats in each room of the suite. There was no refrigerator in my room. I knew I ... Read more

I loved almost everything. Tremendous Staff, Great Location, very well kept. I used both the pool and fitness area. I had the daily breakfast and did have an evening meal which was more than adequate. But the wifi did not connect on the 10th floor. No wifi is no good period. If you want to escape the civilized world this is your place. If you want to stay connected find someplace else.

This was my fifth trip to San Diego in the past eight years for an annual conference -- most of my previous stays were in the Hampton up on Pacific Highway by the airport, but this time I wanted to stay within walking distance of the convention center and not have to take the trolley. This hotel is right across from the convention center, so it's a great location if you're there for meetings. The main concern was that the hotel smelled like sewage in the lobby when we entered at night. It was absolutely horrifying and disgusting. Fortunately, it didn't smell that way in the room. If you are visiting the gaslamp for the convention center, there is no better location than the Hilton Gaslamp. The ability to access the hotel from the convention center made my trip easy and enjoyable. I was staying in a 2 room suite with a co-worker, we both felt we had a lot of privacy and comfort. Rooms only had one air vent and even with AC turned down to 64 the room still felt warm (this coming from someone who keeps the AC at 78 at home). Coffee pot in lobby by front desk was empty at 8am. Wife's uncle tried at 9am and still empty. Front desk clerk said, "Oh there's still coffee in there." She watched as he tilted the coffee pot to try to get some java and did nothing when it was obvious it was indeed empty. On the bright side, rooms were clean and hotel is in an excellent area.

The hotel itself was everything you expect from Hilton. Good service, clean rooms, with a small restaurant/bar in the lobby. The main feature to this hotel tho is the location. It's in the gaslamp district, so when you walk out the door you are within a few feet of a lot of great bars and restaurants. Definitely a great place to stay. One note, definitely use Uber when getting around. Much cheaper then the regular cabs, especially when going to and from the airport.

While traveling on business, my wife and puppy accompanied me. The hotel is very pet friendly and there are wonderful areas to walk right outside of the door. Restaurants are plentiful as is a spirited night life within the Gaslamp area of this hotel. The staff is wonderful and accommodating. While I did not compare to other hotels of similar like this, the price is at the high-end but I would definitely stay here again.

Can't beat the location of this hotel but staff is not knowledgeable about basic things like how to post a lost card in the mail. Tiling and grout in bathroom was unkept,it was average for Hilton, I expected more. For free night awards it seemed appropriate but I would most have wanted to pay for the stay.

A very good, central location. Two agents were really nice but the rest were straight up rude. I really wanted staff to be more engaging. The Hotel Lobby Decor is nice, the basic rooms are...basic corporate hotel stuff. If you get a good rate it could be worth a roll of the dice and hope you get the nice people to assist you. Don't park if you can help it because that will set you back another $50 per night.

The location is absolutely fantastic. The front desk staff are not particularly helpful but the concierge is very helpful. I was traveling to San Diego for a conference and I brought my husband and my two year old son with me so they could hang out during the day while I attended my conference. Arrived late on a Friday evening. We received a complimentary upgrade to a "Jr. Presidential Suite." Though pleased with an upgrade, the room itself was a disappointment. The room was old and tired, in need of a good cleaning, perhaps new carpet and paint. The bathroom was no larger than a standard hotel room, albeit with a whirlpool tub. The staff was good, the room not so much.

We rode Amtrak to Santa Fe station and attempted to walk to the hotel. It is doable (just had rolling bags) but our GPS led us astray, and it ended up being quite a hike. Better to take the Metro Trolley green line (the trolley is painted red, however) toward Imperial, and it's only a couple stops to the hotel.
