I just stayed here for 2 nights because I would be attending The Who concert at the Sports Arena. This is a new hotel from the ground up. I have been wanting to stay here ever since they tore down the old Padre Trail Inn. This is an awesome hotel. There is no train noise or freeway noise. I had a great room above the pool and with a view of the Presidio and Mission Valley. Very clean and modern. The underground parking will be appreciated in the hot Summer. Stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in May for a couple of nights. This is a brand new property and almost right across the street from Old Town. It's also only minutes away from the Airport, Downtown and Sea World. La Jolla and the beaches are only 15-20 minutes away depending on traffic. Overall, a great stay, clean rooms and good breakfast. Would stay again and recommend to others.

It was easy to get to, not far from Old Town San Diego. Very close to Sea World! Loved the atmosphere. Very kid friendly! Liked the lock system no sliding in a card, just placing it on the circle was so much easier. Wish the breakfast did not cost but it looked and smelled good. Too expensive for a group of 7. It was 8 dollars for continental and 15 for all you can eat. Maybe if traveling with a smaller number of people breakfast could be an option.

stopped here for a couple of nights whilst in town and the hotel has recently been refurbed to a relatively high standard. approx. 2minute walk from old town the menu for dinner was very limited and I found the breakfast service slow when busy .. the eating area is very small so at peak times for breakfast there can be a big wait. car parking is free on the street so that saves the $17 or so a day the hotel wants for parking.

I will continue to try and stay at Hilton Garden Inn's whenever possible, they are a great value for the room and this property showed that yet again. The location is great, within walking distance of restaurant options in Old Town but also just a short walk to the trolley station to visit downtown. The location has been renovated and the room was great in terms of size and amenities. This may be the first hotel bathroom with lighting where I could actually see to do my makeup, YAY! I drove by this hotel last year while it was under construction and liked the location, so on a return trip this month I stayed there. It is a very nice new hotel with plenty of amenities including pool, spa, bar, restaurant and outdoor fire pit. I had a 4th floor room facing the front of the hotel to avoid potential noise from the rear as it backs up against a freeway. My room was very nice and immaculately clean with no noise from the outside even though my room faced the pool area. The loca... Read more

Arrived late at night during the week and noticed major road work taking place immediately in front of the hotel. I had done a pre-selection of a room facing the front of Taylor St. which also had a nice view of the outdoor pool. However, we were very surprised at how late road construction took place outside that street and along the other side. I would have wished I had been given a choice to select a room away from the front due to the noise. I had mentioned this twice to the hotel attendants... Read more

Overall, this is a great place to stay. It is a short walk to Old Town Sand Diego and to the light rail station. Uber will cost you about $10 to get to the Gas Lamp Quarter and most locations downtown. The hotel is only a year or so old and is well maintained. The rooms are large and well decorated. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Old Town San Diego for a relatives Marine Gradution. The hotel was conviently located near the Marine base, San Diego zoo, Sea World, and many other attractions. The room was very clean and the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Each room is equipped with a refrigerator and a microwave - very useful. We ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant and the food and service were excellent. The free internet was a bit slow but ok.

Good location & walking distance to Old Town & good restaurants. Quiet, but if there are kids jumping upstairs above you; be prepared for some noise. The air conditioning vent in the wall at the top of the ceiling above the bed is a little noisy and air will intermittently blow on you while you sleep; maybe there are rooms that don't have the same design. Stayed here for a conference. This property is pretty new. It's not bad by any means, but it's more expensive than hotels of similar style. It's new, so the Uber drivers don't know about it yet. Since it's a Hilton, it has the pretentiousness associated with fancier properties, but that pretentiousness is out of place here.
