This was an overnight stop for us, as we were picking up a cruise the following day in San Diego port. On our arrival all of the staff in the front of desk, were both very courteous and friendly. Also the following morning all the staff in the restaurant area and front of desk were all very friendly and helpful. While yes this is an older hotel without all the pazing - it was still great! We had a corner room overlooking the pool and with the rain coming down it was just fabulous - it felt like we were on a tropical island with the rain and the breeze and the palm trees. And we live just down the street so it is not like we are not familiar with San Diego - we are natives here. The staff was super friendly and outgoing and we just had a very relaxing wonderful little getaway.

Cannot complain about front desk service was great Would have been a good hotel in its day Our travel agent let us down Booked a queen twin room got a king single twin room for 4 people not so good Then we got moved to a family room which was nicer but had direct access to pool - no security, and people could see in room We were told that the good rooms were kept for overseas travellers which we got. I loved my stay at this hotel. It is a bit outdated. But everything you needed was provided and i had a very comfortable stay. The staff were amazing! Jesus and a lady, Irene i think was her name, at the lobby were great they went out of their way to help us book a train ticket.

Booked two nights with non-cancellation but left after the first night. The smell of mildew throughout the place was very strong. The bathroom had excessive mold everywhere. Cheap products. I have stayed in a lot of 3 star hotels in San Diego bc of son's club soccer tournaments. This one was far below 3 starts. It was about as clean as a 1 star hotel. It was like being in a shoe box with a bathroom. The bed is super small but, the staff was very nice. The room service was decent and they did offer us a ride to our next location. It was fine for an over night stay and would be ok for a single traveler.

I had to stay in a hotel due to water damage in my apartment here in San Diego. I had a very difficult time dealing with my property manager & the insurance but the staff at Handlery were exceptionally helpful. I originally called & spoke with Luke in the reservations dept. who was by far one of the most patient & helpful individuals I spoke to. We checked in 11/17/16. The night clerk put us in a room facing the parking lot. The room was heavily sprayed with harsh cleaning fluid. I asked the night clerk if he could change our room, even though there were many available rooms, he refused to move us.This guy was a real jerk and was very unhelpful and may have purposely put us in the worst vacant room.Since it was going to be a prepaid 3 day stay, I needed to get out of this room, so the next day I asked the clerk that was there in the mo... The staff is what make this hotel. We found the hotel was great for getting us to our location as it has a shuttle service but there isn't anything that is walking distance to get to go out for tea as we didn't have a vehicle to drive in. The hotel is outdated, the rooms and beds are small and bathroom is small as well. The rooms when first enter smell musty but once in you don't tend to smell it. I had trouble unloading a lot of large items in through the front doors of the Handlery for a trade show, but Ameer helped out and even assisted in things when he saw I was in need of another set of hands. Way above and beyond! Thanks Ameer, that is real customer service that the Handlery should be proud of for their staff going above any beyond.
