Turned up at the hotel much earlier than check in time as I had misjudged the traffic coming down from L.A. I thought I would just ask if it was possible to check in early however I wasn't expecting much. To my surprise, the receptionist was very accommodating and checked us in. I mentioned that the hotel we had stayed in the night before wouldn't accommodate us 1 hour before check in and gave us a room with a view of an aircon unit. She hit a few buttons and gave us a room with a pool view. Jus... Read more

My husband and I booked a trip to San Diego for the Memorial Day weekend, through Expedia for 2 nights then about a week before our trip decided to stay another night which we paid directly through to the hotel. Overall the hotel and staff were inviting and friendly. Rooms and bathroom were really small considering we paid for a "Premier Room," with balcony. Everything was great until I noticed a bite on the back of my leg, that was driving me nuts from itching, but now my husband and I are both... Read more

Aging facility, piss poor service in the bars and eating facilities, crunchy carpets, and the shower / restroom facilities are miserable and barely functional. The menu is over priced and the food is sub par, and will more than likely make you sick. Glad I left and sure wont return....ever. Posted pictures paint a vastly different picture than reality. Nice marketing. For close to $200 a night, I will save the cash and stay at a Motel 6 next time. At least I know I am getting what I paid f... Read more

I only stayed there for one night on my birthday and I left wishing I stayed longer. When I got there the staff was very friendly and we even got an upgrade for our room! The room was excellent and free wifi. It's perfect if you want to go to old town since it's not far of a drive or you can take the shuttle. Definitely recommended!

We stayed at this hotel for a week and witnessed two separate verbal fights right outside the hotel buildings/near parking lot. Really trashy and questionable groups of people in general who seemed to be staying at this hotel.

We have visited SD many times but this was our first time at the Handlery Hotel. It has a great location which provides easy navigation to any place you want to go. The grounds are very pretty and well maintained. The pool is very large....not your typical hotel pool. The staff throughout the hotel are so friendly. Food and service in the restaurant and bar is excellent. The hotel rooms which are spread among three buildings are nicely appointed, clean, quiet and well maintained. Our only "... Read more

Rooms were OK. TV and A/C worked well. No free coffee except that stuff in the rooms! Parking fees $14 per day seems a little steep. Glass of milk cost $5. Check in and out was very fast. Staff friendly and helpful.

The hotel is older, but very nice and well maintained. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating or friendly. They bent over backwards to get anything we needed - extra chairs, tables, etc. the food at our event buffet was beyond our expectations. Friends are still commenting about it! Free parking and wifi was a plus. Close proximity to the airport was helpful. Pricing for our event was not out of our price range and there are many different size rooms. I would recommend it for reunions.

I thought the hotel was great. Room was nice except there were no elevators & we are seniors which made getting luggage up to room a little difficult. Everyone was friendly & very helpful. Although there was no complementary breakfast- the meals were plentiful & Delicious. The wedding & reception were very nice also. Well done.

The Handlery Hotel took Great care of us during our 50th anniversary of the commissioning of the USS Brooke DEG/FFG-1 reunion. We had a big Hospitality room for our use everyday. They put on two great banquets for us with five star service. The Garden Luau was the best. Our room was always refreshed each day and the staff was always very friendly. Brunch each morning was well stocked and reasonably price for a hotel of this caliber.

My daughter and I were going to be in SD for a concert. Very picky about hotels I choose. Reserved on Orbitz. Called and asked for early check in and was told to call day of. I did when we arrived in SD. They said they had a wedding that were using late check out and could not guarantee. I explained reason and said I would check. Arrived at 140 and they had found me and room to check in early and it was there for me. Appreciate they seem to have went above and beyond for my request. Awesome serv... Read more

First, the location stinks... (unless you have a car). Second, desk personal are not 100% truthful, I wanted to go to the mall near by, and I was told it was two blocks down, less than a 10 minute walk... It took me 25 minutes and nearly had an asthma attack on the way!!!! Third, the "Mall" had only "exclusive" stores... If I wanted to shop at a Target or similar, I had to walk two more miles!!!! Fourth, when asked the desk clerk if they had a notion/gift shop, I was told no... What hotel doesn... Read more

Price was reasonable and they are pet ($25) friendly. Yes you need a car or can at least walk a few blocks to the Metro but it is well maintained and has a restaurant and bar. Food was okay, don't expect fancy dining. I'll stay again.

The hotel is positioned conveniently 10 mins walk from the near by mall. About 25 mins from the airport and about 15 mins from Gass Lamp quarter. The bistro restaurant serves amazing food and wine to accompany it. Live bands were also playing wile I was there. The rooms I stayed were both had lovely views. The pool, hot tube and gym are all in the same place so I could enjoy all three. By far the most amazing thing about the hotel are the staff. Always happy and polite, offering great service to... The restaurant bar is very nice and on Friday's they have local bands performing in the evening. The Pool & Exercise Room are located in the courtyard...very nice...there is a hot tub there as well.
