Recently spent 4 pleasant nights at this Hampton Inn, handily located in the heart of Little Italy. Super convenient location just minutes from Embarcadero with the USS Midway Museum, Maritime Museum and Cruise Terminal and around the corner from the restaurant lined India Street. Staff were super helpful, rooms are clean and spacious with a free complimentary breakfast. There's a free shuttle to the airport, but also to nearby places around downtown if they're not busy. Allowed us to visit San Diego comfortably during the short stay. We stayed at the downtown San Diego Hampton Inn the night before we were to take a cruise out of San Diego. It was located in the heart of downtown, and it had a lovely park that took up and entire block with multiple kids play equipment 1 block away. We were also able to walk to the Cruise Ship which was less than a 15 minute mile walk away. The staff was very friendly, the rooms very clean. After a bit of a kerfuffle getting to the meeting point for our Wingz driver, we arrived at the hotel after 11.30pm. ( we were to late to take advantage of the hotels' free airport shuttle). The location is close to so many restaurants that you can walk to. However, the hotel is right next to the train and trolly staition. Nothing was so outstanding either way to go very deep into detail...except the elevators. They are obviously not functioning properly. They took for ever to reach your floor, and when you did finally get on, you were on there a while as it passed your selected floor and continued to other floors not even selected. Staff was ok...not rude, but not pleasent. Breakfast was a mad house as is expected when "free" food is envolved. Not a terrible stay. Reminded me a little of a super 8.

Right by the Embarcadero and Seaport Village. Ellis at front desk is amazing. Room clean, decent breakfast. The elevators are another story. One is shut down and one bounces up and down jumps when moving to each floor and has had guests stuck. The only other elevator works good sometimes.

Only issue with hotel was the elevators did not work well the entire weekend, opted for the stairs and found out not very accessible! This Hampton Inn is in an older art deco building, but is has been modernized inside. It is located across from the waterfront and walking distance to Little Italy and a great outdoor farmer's market. There is underground covered parking available. The room was large. The bed and linens excellent and comfortable. The room had a couch, desk, small refrigerator, coffee maker, flat screen TV. I recently spent a week with my siblings and their families at the Hampton Inn and Suites. The staff - both at the front desk and in housekeeping - were excellent. The location turned out to be excellent for our needs. A trolley line runs behind the hotel and proved to be very useful for getting to Petco Park for a baseball game and to Old Town. It was a great place to stay. The rooms were clean and pretty quiet, except for the trains, but the great location was worth the few times we had to listen to them. The airport is just down the street but you really hear no noise in the rooms from that of Pacific highway. Ellis at the front desk was welcoming and helpful.
