Staff was ok. Room was a little too dark. Hallways smelled. Breakfast ok. Price was reasonable. Rooms were clean. I would stay there again if I find a good deal. Wouldn't pay full price for this. It just needs a little more effort from front staff and update carpets. Overall ok stay.

Very nice property. Very near the interstate, near all services & restaurants, and only 10 minutes from beautiful beaches. Excellent staff. I was having a problem ordering tickets on the house computer. Dest man, sorry I did not get his name, came over and helped twice and even offered to print tickets on his main computer if needed. Housekeeping & breakfast staff were friendly and very helpful.

Easy free parking. Staff friendly. Simple fast check in and out. Will stay there again. Price dropped as date of trip neared & I was able to cancel prior reservation & reserve at the cheaper price online easily.

Its not an expensive hotel. I have stayed here a bunch of times and will probably stay again. Nothing fancy but nothing wrong either. Parking can be tough especially if you want to be underground or have a large car. Breakfast is free and sometimes you get what you pay for. The internet is stronger than most hotels.

Visiting a friend in San Diego, and find this hotel. It is located among other more expensive hotel and the price is more affordable and better that they provide complimentary breakfast. That is very good. We my family got there, we found the room is super clean. The breakfast is typical but hot food is hot and cold ones are cold, not that easy, believe me. It seems the hotel is popular with many families around for breakfast. In summary, the experience was very good, on par with many hotels I w... Read more

we normally stay at Hampton Inn because we like them so much. This one is OK but the hallways smells a little musty. Also disappointed that our rate is $20 more than the Double Tree...or the Hilton. generally, we like Hampton because the prices are good and the rooms are comfortable. Will have to rethink this next time we stay in Del Mar...

When I checked in I was given one price on the phone by another sister hotel that was booked. But, when I arrived the Hampton would not honor the price unless it was in writing. I was staying due to a wedding near by, I only live 15 miles away, but thought this would be more convenient because there was a shuttle to take us there and back. I found this not to be true as well. The shuttle did take us there, only because they found a staff member available, but he wouldn't be able to take us back ... Read more

Make sure you don't stay in room 107. It's right across from the front desk and you can hear the phone ring and people at the front desk talk all night long. If anybody goes to smoke outside, they're right outside your window. If people hang out at the pool and talk, they're right outside your window. My daughter, my wife, and I were constantly woken up throughout the night. Do not stay in this hotel, or at least this room, if you want to get any sleep.

I stayed here for a short stay and it was ok. Be careful if you are light sleeper since the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors if they are talking or partying easily in bed. The hotel is convenient off the freeway and great food options are nearby. They have a parking garage which is nice.

I stayed here last year and reviewed it then. I'm glad to report that nothing has changed. This Hampton Inn remains immaculate and comfortable, which is what I hope for and expect in a name-brand, mid-range hotel. Check-in was busy when I arrived, but the staff kept things moving. The room was quiet, fresh and quite comfortable. The rate was $100 per night, about as high as I'll willingly pay for a Hampton, but not really unreasonable in the crazily high-rent areas around San Diego.

I travel all over the world, and this hampton was by far the nicest one I have ever been in. I would give it 10 stars of I could. The staff was so friendly, great location, rooms smelled so wonderful!!

Had a great stay here. There were just a couple of reasons I didn't give this place 5 circles. 1st was that when I checked in, I was given a room that hadn't been cleaned yet. Not a big deal. They fixed it real quick. But still a rookie mistake. The other thing was that unless you a familiar with the area, it's tricky getting to this place from the highway. The pool wasn't exactly welcoming. Staff was Uber nice!!! Parking was sufficient and the breakfast was.....free. So can't complain. Very... Read more

Don't count on their shuttle. It was down half the time I needed it! Price was just steep for location and services! Room is very comfortable. Breakfast had a nice selection. Housekeeping very friendly.

The location is perfect for anything you need. It is a quick drive to local food and he beach. The staff is absolutely incredible and we were treated with nothing but respect. They have plenty of parking so you don't have to worry about that either.

Good place to stay overall, our beds were not comfortable. Nice and clean and not bad breakfast. Not much around the hotel, taco bell and one Mexican restaurant. We had to drive to find a place to eat.

They were very accommodating in that I needed a room for just one evening for three adults (family) traveling with a pet for a family gathering. The pet deposit was quite reasonable. The room was clean and comfortable. The front desk staff member Liliana was a very helpful and courteous person. We would stay here again. There are also many restaurants close by.

Hotel was clean, nice, modern, was doing some painting downstairs. Elevators came quickly. It was great that we were not charged for parking. Hotel was in a central location. Free breakfast had a nice selection of food. When we got up to our room air conditioner was on and we had TV on. Went to bed turned TV off and we heard all the freeway noise and could not sleep. Was to late to change rooms.

Pros: I got a good rate, free breakfast, friendly staff, clean room. Cons: My room didn't smell good, it could have smelled fresher. And the worst part were the beds. The mattresses need to be replaced--they were too soft, had lumps, and were sagging.

Most hotels have bigger beds, you should , too. There is room! Close to freeway, but pretty quiet. Free parking is a BIG plus, as other area hotels charge, which is INSANE and RUDE. They had free breakfast, too, included. Parking was good..plenty of outside parking, but not enough inside in the parking garage. Nice to be able to use card to get into parking garage and go right to the room from the elevator. Doors said keep closed at all times..but several times we saw them open, even propped op... This is a great hotel about 4 miles north of UC San Diego. The hotel was clean, well maintained, and very affordable. The full breakfast was very good and had many choices, satisfying both my teenager and myself. I would definitely stay here again.

Just average...nothing special...beds are a bit hard for the price. Not too far from beach. Easy freeway access. Shower had good water pressure with raised shower head that's great for accomadating tall people like myself.

There was definitely an issue with the bathroom exhaust fan system as we had a bad stench of sewer gas in our bathroom for the three days we were there. We asked at the desk and all they did was spray which worked for about 20 minutes then the stench returned. Should have offered us another room.

Everyone was friendly and worked to solve problems or give advice. Clean and breakfast was good, hot and plentiful. Desk staff always available and most helpful. Did have to drive to restaurants, but they were within 2 miles. Highway very handy. Pool and hot tub were very clean, but pool was not heated.

Stayed here on our first trip to SD for a Wedding. Convenient location to the freeways, the exit from the hotel to get to 5N can be backed up often though. Right next to an ampm gas station and down the street from a great shopping center! The continental breakfast is okay, but I'd pass and go up the street to Snooze.

While visiting our son for the Thanksgiving holiday, we enjoyed many local activities. We hiked Torrey Pines, visited the UCSD campus, Birch Aquarium, and the San Diego Zoo. We were sure to make the breakfast a part of every day. The airport is very close too! Perfect for our vacation!
