Would not recommend this hotel, was disappointed as a Hilton Honnors member. The hotel lobby was update and beautiful however the rooms do need a makeover. Restrooms are small and old looking as well. Would not pay $449 per night for a king bed not worth it at all

The hotel was great, and close to many activities. Staff and amenities were awesome. The breakfast was delicious. We have never stayed at a Double Tree hotel before, but will again in the future. I recommend the Double Tree hotel for anyone.

The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. The bar was not my scene. Too few places to sit and people watch but fully stocked bar. I did not eat at the restaurant so I can't rate that. Cookies were available and warm and chewy. Bed was comfy and the room was nice. Parking lot was tight but not too hard to navigate. Will stay again.

Theirs a lot of hotels in the area. Shop around you'll find more convenience and value for you dollar. $200 is pricey for not having continental breakfast, no fridge, iron board, safe etc. The vending machine charged $3.50 for a small bottle of water.

If I could give half stars, this would probably get a 3.5, but since I love Hilton, I will round up to a 4. Location is great, just about 2 blocks from very cute cafes and restaurants in Little Italy as well as a stop for the Hop on Hop Off Trolley. Everyone was very friendly and we appreciated the complimentary airport shuttle. As an HHonors Diamond we were theoretically upgraded, but besides the floor (21st), I can't comment on how much better our room was. We had a partial view of the bay... Read more

This review is based on a traveler doing the San Diego Rock N Roll HALF Marathon (may have been different if I did the full). The location is perfect if the race start is still near Balboa Park. I left the hotel at 5:15AM and walked to shuttle drop off area around 5:30AM. And the hotel is maybe 5 blocks from the post-race festivities area near the water. So no need for shuttles or ubers as the walk is doable at the start and finish. That's a HUGE plus. The rooms were comfortable and had ev... Read more

This is an older property in need of some serious updating. That being said, the hotel is clean, well maintained, with a welcoming and helpful staff. This hotel is located just on the eastern edge of San Diego's Little Italy neighborhood, adjacent to the I-5 freeway. The neighborhood is mostly residential, so you will need to walk the 3-4 blocks down into Little Italy for dining options other than the hotel's in-house restaurant. The bed was comfortable, the rooms were clean and the breakfast was great. The Manager Roy was very accommodating. I HIGHLY recommend this location. The room next to me had a party, called several times to complain about it. Hotel wasn't to proactive to solve the situation. Then they moved the party downstairs to the pool and were even louder. The walls are not soundproof therefor more rooms were being disturbed by this. 2 of my other colleagues were disturbed by this as well and couldn't rest at all either.

A breathtaking view of the city lights, rooftop and harbor from our room. What a great place to stay for a romantic getaway. This is a good choice if you want to be close to the activities of downtown. I stayed a full week at the DoubleTree for a conference. The hotel was outside the main downtown Gas Lamp district, which I preferred, but an easy walk from the Little Italy district. There were plenty of good local restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel, and a Catholic Church within one block. Really decent hotel. Mid class. A bit expensive for what it offered. Desk staff needs to step it up. It would be a pretty good hotel for a vacation. Also it's close to the airport. Rooms were pretty loud from the highway. Not well Soundproofed. Small balcony was a nice plus.

The location is great to walk to the Museum, Little Italy etc. breakfast was good ... Staff was friendly. Only had double beds... I would have preferred a queen or king size bed, but it seems this hotel has mostly doubles.

You can't beat the location for a quick business trip, very conveniently located just off I-5. Near Little Italy and all downtown. If you are looking for luxury this isn't the best option in San Diego. The room was clean but unremarkable. The staff was friendly. Parking was difficult and very tight even with our compact car. I would not want to attempt with a full size vehicle as the ramps are very narrow. If you are looking for functional, comfortable, and convenient without the expense of wa... Read more

The hotel was nice and clean! It was also in a great location! We were able to walk to the Gaslamp District, the marina, and Little Italy. The only issue I had was my hotel key for some reason would not work even after I was given a key holder to place them in. I ended up getting stuck on the elevator when my key again did not work. Front guest associate wasn't apologetic only huffed and blamed me...good thing I didn't have a fear of being trapped in an elevator. Pool was pretty tiny too.I would... Read more

This is an older Hilton Doubletree that is conveniently located at the edge of little Italy. In about 10 minutes you can at almost every restaurant in Little Italy. The hotel itself is average size. The top several floors are reserved for Hilton honor guests. One side of the hotel faces the pool. The other side faces the airport and 5 freeway. Each side has its share of noise. The walls are fairly thin and not the best in keeping out noise. My room faced the airport and freeway. With th... Read more

Upon arrival at the hotel I was greeted by some of the friendliest staff I have met. The check in process took longer than usual but the girl was in training so i was very patient and understanding. They also gave me a free breakfast for the wait. I got to the room and it looked like every other doubetree room i have been to but had a balcony and an amazing view of the airport runway. The location is amazing I waked all of downtown and to the water and it was all so close. Also went to the zoo a... Read more

The price was right; hotel staff professional, cheerful and helptful. I would stay at this facility again. The room was very clean and certain amenities were provided. Internet was complimentary and was very easy to access

Short walk from the bay front, and only a trolley ride away from all of the wonderful activities available in San Diego. Free shuttle service from the airport was a real plus. Friendly staff. Bar in the lobby came in handy quite often as a gathering place following our business meetings.

Stayed here for one week, good location that is walking distance from most downtown activities including the Gaslamp district and right next to Little Italy. Parking at the hotel will cost you $25 per day, so it's a little pricey. Service was very good, small bar and restaurant downstairs, food was good. The only downside is that it is an older hotel, you can hear the plumbing gurgle through the pipes as you are sitting in the room, AC was noisy and did not get repaired (squeaky fan), and I was... The DoubleTree by Hilton in downtown San Diego is the perfect location. You are within walking distance to everything. The view of the bay from the hotel was spectacular. The hotel had everything you needed and the food was great. There is also a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport which was very convenient.

Clean rooms and very friendly staff, waking distance to amenities. No safe or fridge in rooms which was frustrating, hard to keep water bottles cold! Fresh coffee and fruit insfused water in the lobby was great.

I have stayed at a lot of Hilton properties in different countries over the years. This is not the best by a long way. Check in took forever - not really sure what the guy was doing with his computer. I tried to purchase bottled water in the in-hotel shop and charge it to my room, but the nice lady was eating her lunch behind the counter and told me as it was a separate business I could not room charge. Room was fine - about average for Doubletree, but definitely not the best I have stayed i... Read more

I've visited plenty of hotels in my recent travels and I'm a firm believer in customer service. I was wooed and wowed by how respectful and nice the staff was to me. I'm a young college student looking character and usually get treated as such. Ivan and his coworkers were awesome. Not only did they take care of me but they also gave me tips on where to go and who to see. It was awesome. Thanks and keep up the good work.

False alarms at night were set off by unauthorized guest leaving by the back door. Front desk joking with the fire department when they arrived in response to the alarms. Also, the shuttle service to the airport was not on schedule thus risking late arrival to the airport and missing the flight. No concern shown by the hotel staff regarding either fairly serious matter. The hotel itself was very nice, location was good, and check in was welcoming.

Hotel is a nice doubletree, with great front desk people. The breakfast buffet was very good. Rooms are updated and very comfortable. Short walk to Little Italy part of town. Parking is a little steep, but it is downtown San Diego

I have traveled throughout the world and stayed at budget motels, 5-star resorts and everything in between. From the moment we checked in, the front desk people were rude and completely useless. We were supposed to be there for 4 nights, but I contacted Hilton Honors and told them we do not want to stay there and that they needed to find us another place. As if that wasn't enough, the room was not very nice...the bathroom was tiny and stained throughout. The hotel had advertised a swimming pool,... Read more

Since the moment we arrived to this hotel the friendly staff, the great breakfast, and nice accommodations makes it a great value for your money. The location was a big plus. Within walking distance to so many places. My family used most of the amenities. We will definitely return.

The free airport shuttle was great and the warm cookie was yummy we received when we checked in, but then it kinda went south. We just arrived after a six hour flight and were exhausted and were given a room that someone was already staying in. After going back down to the front desk we were given the room directly next door to the person we just woke up...kinda awkward. The room looked like it was from the 1980's and the traffic from the freeway was definitely noticeable. Nice free breakfast bu... Read more

Came from philly to San Diego for the chargers vs broncos game and for the amount of money I spent for the whole trip was well worth it. I recommend if you want to go on vacation go to San Diego for the food and beautiful weather.

Customer service terrible. Promised rate and given bait and switch scam. Contacting a manager or supervisor to actually correct situation was a waste of time and was given run around and different numbers to call different names to ask for and times to contact. All incorrect contacts and just getting pushed off to next equally unhelpful person. Wasted hours trying to correct a savings of about $70! In effective inefficient and rude! Total lack of customer service. Will not stay here again and wi... Read more
