We stayed in this hotel in March when we went to San Diego. We chose this hotel instead of hotels in San Diego for the price and location. It's not far from S.D. and we could avoid downtown and tourist traffic. The room is very clean, quiet and comfortable. The hotel offers free cookies at check-in :) There is a $12 parking fee that we think it's not reasonable. It's not at a prime location where there is no parking like downtown, so why charge a parking fee? We had a toilet plumbing prob... Read more

Very nice and friendly staff. The beds are nice, the amenities in the bathrooms were modest and the room is just ok. I would stay there again if needed. I did look forward the cookies only to find that they contained walnuts? What's wrong with pure toll house chocolate chip cookies?

Poor check in and overall experience as a Hilton Honors member. Poolside food service took an hour and was eventually delivered to my guest room. No real apology or appreciation noted and did not feel the hotel valued me as a loyal Hilton member.

As someone who travels most weeks and stays at a lot of properties, I have learned how important the team managing the property can be to the experience and comfort. A big thanks to Mario and Diana who truly made our stay. The check-in process was seamless, we were provided with restaurant suggestions in addition to a list of activities worth exploring. Lastly, they made sure we got there and back without having to rely on traditional transportation. You two made our stay that much better!

I have stayed here quite a few times and LOVE it. It's so cozy and relaxing, but also offers a nice enough "nightlife" for those that want to meet new people. Diana at the front desk has checked me in a few times and SHE IS THE BEST. I love how sweet she is and you can truly tell she cares about the people that need a place to call home for a day or two. If you come here and see a lovely lady named Diana, tell her Selena says "hi". She'll make your stay 10x better and make you feel like you're c... Read more

Efficient staff, clean room, easy access to freeway & shopping, great location. That said, parking spaces are extremely narrow, not sure if this is typical of this area. Hotel lobby is very small & could be a little more "welcoming".

I travel for work quite often. I always use this place when I am in San Diego. The staff is extremely friendly. The Hotel is very nice and clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. They also have better pillows than most places with a couple extra on the bed so you feel right at home. I always sleep good here.

First the good part: A shoutout to Diana who drives the shuttle. She is friendly and will bend over backwards to help you and provide you with useful information. Now to the not-so-much part: The hotel is under new management. By 9:00 PM our room had not been made up yet, despite three requests by us. And then no new toiletries were provided. The restaurant is served by a skeleton staff, so be prepared to wait for a server to take your order. Unlike Comfort Inn, whose shuttle runs on demand, ... Read more

This hotel was very clean, nice, welcoming, safe and a wonderful experience for my family. The location was also great, very close to all the wonderful things to do in Del Mar.

We checked in at 9pm for just one night and I used HHonor points to reserve the room. We were told when we checked in that we got "upgraded" to a junior suite. I wish they hadn't. The room was next to the elevator, so every five seconds you hear the elevator going up and down, dings, and people talking in the hallway. It almost felt like we were staying under a bridge with a big O truck passing by every few seconds. The walls are thin, our neighbor was talking on her phone at 6am and you could h... Read more

We lived in San Diego for many years, so when we planned our vacation, we knew plenty about the area. Del Mar is the perfect place, since it's positioned about halfway between North County (Carlsbad) and downtown SD. That said, the hotel is located in a primarily business-centric area, so plan on driving a bit to find restaurants. The rooms are quite small but the service from front desk was very good, specially good to mention Diana who had a nice smile every morning and helped with shuttle bus and other minor issues, great service! Also this hotel has a big pool area that reminds kind of resort.

Very comfortable beds. Do take the Bed & Breakfast package because the breakfast was very good. If you don't want to gain weight stay away from the warm free chocolate chip cookies! Service was excellent. The pool was beautiful with comfortable loungers and a hot tub.

The room was crawling with ants (including the queen ant and all of the ant eggs) on the shower wall, bathroom counter, and desk in the bedroom. Towels were either dirty or stained. Service was horrible due to not being told about: what was going to be charged onto my card, the incidental temporary charge, parking fees, parking pass, consequences of not having parking pass, and internet access. Staff had an attitude when the issues were brought to their attention and even thought it would be fun... Read more

Stayed at the hotel for a training class for three days and had a great time. The staff was amazing with a hosted reception which made everyone feel at home. My room was great and very quiet. The bed was great and I slept very well. Shower had plenty of water pressure. Great internet speeds and good tv channel selection. Will be back

Never mind the amenities, because if you have great staff, it makes the stay perfect!!! Especially Diana Habash, excellent customer service skills, so good that i am writing this review. She is great, great, great. My room attendant; Maria Elena was so helpful as well. Hope to see you all again. Room 523 from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

I came here to visit my family in San Diego all the way from Texas. After a long flight I was amazed by how inviting the front staff were.. Their politeness and friendly greetings made it seem like I never left home. I was immediately impressed by their sense of southern hospitality and they never ceased to amaze me throughout my stay. From the complimentary fridge, to the fresh-baked cookies. I even brought my parents back to the hotel after our day at the zoo and my Papa bear (who has quite th... Read more

Diana at the front desk is absolutely the BEST! She will be sure to take good care of you with a contagious smile! Your stay at DoubleTree will be great based on the tremendous staff - Taylor, Kristie, Claudia, Sam, Jeremy, Rick and Sean, are so friendly & accommodating, I would stay there again just to see them! The only drawback, is the lounge closes too early and they need bigger ice buckets but otherwise good value for the price.

I should have listened to my instincts. I read the reviews for this hotel and I questioned my decision to book a reservation here. I kept my reservation because the rate was low. That was a big mistake. Kudos to the front desk staff. Upon check-in, the clerk was friendly. The lobby was a ghost town. I thought this was strange for a hotel in Southern California during the summer. The room felt small. The beds were a bit creaky. My biggest complaint, though, was the dinginess. The walls were... I am always really impressed with the service at this hotel. "Diana" is often at the front desk when I stay there and she is always incredibly helpful, able to answer all of my questions, and bends over backwards to make my stays enjoyable. She is a fantastic representative for the DoubleTree and Hilton name. I will always choose the DoubleTree.

To start with the hotel is situated at a very awesome location; close to beach, mall, restaurants and train. The hotel staff will help you out of way any time , i met Diana very gentle and helpful. The hotel has a free shuttle service which is too good for traveling within 5 miles. The breakfast buffet was splurge and even vegetarian options were present. The room were good, comfortable. they can get microwave, fridge on request in room. Overall excellent.

This is a nice hotel, price is high for not have any type of breakfast you don't have to pay for and you also have to pay for parking. They add an extra $50 fee per night for damages, but this is not stated anywhere, found out when I checked my credit charges. This would have been nice to know they hold this money until you check out before hand. Could make it miserable if your traveling on a budget and not expecting the extra money being taken. I know it hurt our trip.

The hotel was very close to the freeway so it was easy to zip in and out. Quiet location. The rooms were clean and the bed were great. The front desk guy gave us some recommendations for restaurants in the area and we ate at a few of them. I wish they didn't charge for parking. It seems like you should be able to park at your hotel for free. The beds were very comfortable. The pool and the grounds are really nice.

The bad-You do have to pay for parking for each day of your stay. The Ugly- Trying to navigate our way back to the hotel without a GPS at night. Also, we personally didnt like the gym as it did not have a Functional Trainer equipment or dumbells.
