These reviews are tough, there are some very nice aspects to this property but there are some that just aren't. First the good: the room itself is quite nice. While there are some minor maintenance issues, the room is modern, very technology friendly meaning that there are lots of easy to access outlets, a good desk, very fast free Internet, and USB charging ports aplenty. There's a good sized refrigerator that is COLD--a rarity in for most hotels, a microwave, and plenty of channels on the ... Read more

Brought my grandson to San Diego for the weekend and we stayed here. Nice sized room, nicely done. The balcony was great and allowed for that awesome San Diego breeze. The room had this lounge chair with ottoman which my grandson fell in love with and the bed, probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. They give you this little relaxation kit, with scented spray for your pillows as well as other goodies. I wanted to know more about these items and the front desk was great, tr... Read more

Although it's a Crown Plaza, it's more like a Holiday Inn. Exterior corridors, which is what a majority of the hotels have on hotel circle, aging decor. Room had refrigerator and microwave, which we didn't use, but nice if you're staying a while. Toilet kept running, luckily my husband was able to fix. Rusty shower. Even though we had a room where we could see the highway, we could not hear the traffic. However, the staff was great. Front desk, staff in cafe, everyone had a smile.

Booked in here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon but found it so unpleasant we have to check out early and pay to stay somewhere else. The hotel is more like an apartment complex with several hundred rooms all over looking an atrium. The poor design means that every sound echoes such that every time someone enters or exits a room the door slams with such force that it reverberates around the entire building. When this is going on all night and during the early hours of the morning it is imp... Read more

I stayed at this property 1 night while in San Diego. The property is Hawaii themed which makes for great scenery. I was upgraded to a suite at no cost due to my platinum status, which was cool. The room was clean but oddly decorated and could tell the hotels age. The bed was very firm and uncomfortable. There was a picture centered behind the TV which was also odd. The door would stick and took multiple tries with the key card to enter. The location is private and within 10 minutes of the airpo... Read more

This Crowne Plaza is a bit dated but still has the charm and feel you want close to the Ocean. The lobby and atrium are very nice and welcoming. the staff is awesome!!. Jimmy at the front desk was great; he took the time to answer all my questions about the area and also offered a couple of drinks at the bar. the rooms are older but well kept and very clean. I had a very relaxing stay and I will stay again.

I was disappointed when we went to our rooms and found them outside with access from the environment. This seemed to be like a high end motel and not what I am used to with a Crowne Plaza. The motel showed it's age but had a bit old charm with an inner waterfall and tropical vegetation. I asked for two rooms and they made sure that they were ajoing since they new this was a family stay. I will probably stay at a different Crowne Plaza when I come back to San Diego.

We stayed at the Crown Plaza San Diego in late May and we had a good experience. We have a 2 year old and a 7 year old so, I asked to have a room far away from other people because I was worried they would be loud. The hotel was very nice and made this possible. I don't think there was anyone around our room at all. The hotel does have that outdoor access but there are waterfalls and ponds surrounding that outdoor access so, I thought that was actually neat. A four day stay for a Mini Cooper meet and one day when the greyhound and I joined my husband. I did not feel safe walking the grounds, with our greyhound, behind the property (they use it for overflow parking). It seems to be a transient magnate, with some people seemingly living in the small "forest" neighboring the parking. I did like the surrounding and Island-feel of the hotel. We didn't take advantage, with no containment of a fence (dog), of the patio- but it seemed very nice. The staff ... Read more

Once again we had a fantastic experience at the Crowne Plaza San Diego (Mission Valley)! We came to San Diego for the Chargers/Broncos game, and made a point to stay here as we have several times in the past. Leslie, Mariah, Selena and Judy at the Front Desk were SO friendly and helpful!! They made us feel very welcome and each of them were so polite, efficient and provided excellent service. AND, we were so happy to see that our favorite waiter, Jose Carlos in the Islands Restaurant, was still... Read more

Went to a 50th high school reunion here and despite living only a half hour away decided to stay and not drive home late at night after imbibing wine etc. The rooms are sorta quaint and sorta modern. Flat panel TV and a digital safe, modern, mounted in the wall AC unit and floor plan is quaint. But the beds were nice and comfy and the room spotlessly clean and plenty of fresh towels. I was very happy.

Our group had a great time at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in San Diego. Our meeting rooms met our needs perfectly. We used about 5 of the conference rooms in different ways. They were very flexible. Our buffet dinner on the lawn was quite nice. The food was good- and they tried to keep up with our appetites! Coffee ended up being luke-warm, but everything tasted great! Our rooms were satisfactory- and the staff was better than we've had at other resorts. The cost of the rooms is starting to h... Read more

You can this hotel doesn't care about their customers, when they don't allow to sleep in without waking you up. Plus they don't care about your security, no security guard, safes can only fit a matchbox

The food was tasty and plentiful, but it was our server, Jose Carlos who made the already ample breakfast buffet even more enjoyable. A charmer and a real pro! The whole Islands staff were superb! The courtyard rooms suffer somewhat from all night echos of guests coming and going. Pool and spa were very nice. Front desk staff were also helpful and delightful!

I was a Guest at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, together with my family. First, I was impressed that the Hotel offered Bed and breakfast and was very much impressed by an employee that took care of my family during the breakfast (Jose Carlos). He was very professional, fast, and really made us feel at home. We will definitely come back to the Crowne plaza hotel next time we visit San Diego

2 day conference was the reason; a cleaner, more well kept room will be hard to find for the price; add that to a courtyard and beyond view of tropical trees, etc and you have an ideal room, for a conference. You may well decide to skip the restaurant and bar offerings for a foray to Old Town for a Mexican dinner, or to the nearby Fashion Valley Shopping Centre to seek out the outdoor, family oriented, reasonably priced quality choices at the second deck food court. Excellent WI FI, and large c... Read more

The air conditioner vent was filthy. I asked house keeping to clean it, for some reason they did not. I ended up doing it myself. There was a ridiculous amount of dirt and what appeared to be a piece of a cookie in it. I'm sure the towel I used had to be thrown away. This hotel also charges $19 a day for parking. I probably used my parking card twice during a 4 day stay. The gates would just open without them. I also had visitors just drive in and out at will. Why the charge for parking? Other ... Read more

Rooms are far from front of hotel. I think it was a motel years ago. Grounds need to be kept better. Bed was fairly comfortable. Again it reminded me of an old motel Not too far from trolley. But not walkable. Would not stay there again.

The good side - Pool is amazing, quite hotel, well located. The bad side - Service is as bad as you can get. Employees are not smiling, a bit rude and the room cleanliness is bad. Dusty in some spots, Wiring of TV is all over thrown below the work desk. Just don't expect to get any kind of service - good enough to stay but defiantly not 3.5 or 4 stars. 2-3 stars service. 3-3.5 stars ameneties
