This bed and breakfast inn is just a couple of blocks from Balboa Park, in a neighborhood with plenty of restaurants. It's an old mansion, with striking woodwork and completely gorgeous stained glass in the main stairwell. Even if you don't stay here, it's worth popping in to get a look at the lobby. We stayed in the carriage house at the rear of the property. We found it very comfortable and slept well. The bedroom is on the small side. The bathroom is rather large. The sink, floor, and t... I ran into this Inn on Booking.com because it had a good deal and was close to the San Diego Zoo...our main destination. However, my wife and I were very impressed at the quality of the room, the elegant atmosphere, its close location to anything we could want in San Diego (including downtown, Balboa Park, and multiple eating options) and the extremely friendly and helpful staff. This is a beautiful Inn that stands in stark contrast to chain hotels. The continental breakfast is also nice, quaint... Read more

I enjoyed my stay in the Aesthetic Room on the 2nd floor. I appreciated the complimentary water upon arrival and found the room to be beautifully decorated, comfortable, clean, and quiet. The inn was within walking distance to Balboa Park and a close drive to the airport, which made the price of the room a great deal ($99 a night with tax on Expedia). I was mainly disappointed with the staff and the breakfast. One woman who worked there was cold, distant, and hard to locate when I needed assista... Read more

My husband and I stayed for one night after the Desert Trip music festival. It is a truly beautiful B&B, quite near the San Diego Zoo and the Gaslamp Quarter. It has been restored to the tune of several million dollars to its original Victorian splendour. The rooms are huge and the bed was probably one of the most comfortable I'd ever slept in. Since we only stayed one night, I'm afraid I can't say much about this location. I suppose the only suggestion I have is to try to get a room on the se... Read more

This B&B is a delight. Beds are comfortable, room was clean, and breakfast was fine. Right next to Balboa so one can walk to museums. Good Italian restaurant , named Cucina, is two blocks away. Public bus service very easy and close. The building itself is interesting, including the old carriage house which was our room.

We stayed in this hotel on the first part of our honeymoon. We booked it because it was so different to any other properties we looked at. The owners have maintained a period feel with some beautiful furniture. We stated in the Bilboa room which was very spacious. We had a large old oak framed bed which was very comfy. The bathroom was large with a roll top bath and over head shower. Towels were changed every day with daily room service. The hotel is a short walk to Bilboa Park which is amazing.... Read more

A few things I liked about this place. We stayed here two nights. Very nice hotel, friendly staff, cute rooms, and great location. Parking also included across the street. The only downside to me was the breakfast. It was absolutely horrible. This place advertises itself as a bed and breakfast, so for a hotel of this level it is absolutely unacceptable. The breakfast served was a continental breakfast buffet consisting of a few cold cuts, a few types of cheese slices, Wonder bread, stale croissa... Read more

I suppose this could be a really nice B&B if some things were done with a little more thought. The room was ok and the air con worked which was good because it really was hot and humid. The owners have tried to make the place quaint and have mistakenly tried to retain a period feel but in a misguided manner. On the first evening we needed to take a shower - well it turns out the shower was seriously broken and in a very obvious way with the turn-on knob spinning freely and uselessly. Didn't the ... I stayed here for my birthday on July 25th & 26th and it was the most miserable hotel stay I have ever had. I live in Vegas and do stay-cations quite often so I'm not a novice. I had originally booked the Library and was later contacted by the hotel with an upgrade to the Renaissance room due to their overbooking of the Library room. I wish that had not happened. When I first arrived the room was a comfortable temperature however by the evening the room had crept up to 77 degrees. I tried, to no... Read more
