We stayed in the "Carriage House" guest room which is located behind the hotel, like your own little guest cottage. The room had a lot of authentic Victorian details and the bed was comfortable. Friendly staff, especially Cindy, and nice Continental Breakfast. They offer free parking which is located in a garage across the street, very convenient. Hotel is within walking distance of restaurants. We will be back again next year.

We spent three nights and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and bathroom was large in the Oak room. We made an error in booking and the staff could not have more understanding and helpful. The location was unbeatable as we walked to Balboa park Little Italy and the zoo

We stayed in the Balboa queen room on the 2nd floor for 2 nights. The house is beautiful, room very clean and well appointed and staff very helpful. Parking is across the street and is in a secure parking lot. Location is superb, just a short stroll to Balboa park and restaurants are within walking distance. Loved our stay hear, only wish is that it could have been longer to spend more time in San Diego.

First, the location is primo - within walking distance of Balboa park and several fun restaurants, and a short cab ride to Little Italy and Gaslamp district. But more importantly, just a completely charming home when on vacation! Rooms are spacious, well decorated, and each has its own character. Staff always attentive to ensure your comfort. Free parking! And there is a market right across the street for little things you may need (e.g. wine). Maybe we just got off-season rates but I say ... Read more

This was my first time staying here and I'll be back. Check in was easy and parking was well explained. I had the carriage house room - loved the privacy and the decor. Good wifi connection, too. Very convenient to downtown - a must for me with business meetings and attending the opera later in the evening.

A beautiful old house with lots of character, but: 1. Make sure that you don't get lodged out in the Garden House (cant remember how they refer to this room), as this is a separate building .. not as nice as the main house, and you don't get the full experience of being in the house itself. 2. The internet is also very weak and almost unusable out there .. 3. Breakfast was really poor .. very little effort made, and no excuse for this at the room prices charged. 4. Its more like an upmarket... Read more

This b&b is a beautiful old building and is in reasonable walking distance (1 - 1.5 miles) of Little Italy and the Gaslamp districts, as well as the waterfront. it's an 1800s house and, inside, has a wealth of character features, including beautiful stained glass, all up the stairway. It also has antique furniture, and even a piano! The rooms are also full of period features - ours had a lovely painted ceiling and a big old bed. The shower over the bath certainly looked like an antique - it wo... Read more

Inside and out this beautiful Victorian home is well maintained. The lobby is exquisitely decorated with warm historic, luxury ambience. Parking is in a secure garage right across the street. Downtown San Diego is a short drive away, The staff is very accommodating.

I stayed here for my birthday on July 25th & 26th and it was the most miserable hotel stay I have ever had. I live in Vegas and do stay-cations quite often so I'm not a novice. I had originally booked the Library and was later contacted by the hotel with an upgrade to the Renaissance room due to their overbooking of the Library room. I wish that had not happened. When I first arrived the room was a comfortable temperature however by the evening the room had crept up to 77 degrees. I tried, to no... Read more

I suppose this could be a really nice B&B if some things were done with a little more thought. The room was ok and the air con worked which was good because it really was hot and humid. The owners have tried to make the place quaint and have mistakenly tried to retain a period feel but in a misguided manner. On the first evening we needed to take a shower - well it turns out the shower was seriously broken and in a very obvious way with the turn-on knob spinning freely and uselessly. Didn't the ... A few things I liked about this place. We stayed here two nights. Very nice hotel, friendly staff, cute rooms, and great location. Parking also included across the street. The only downside to me was the breakfast. It was absolutely horrible. This place advertises itself as a bed and breakfast, so for a hotel of this level it is absolutely unacceptable. The breakfast served was a continental breakfast buffet consisting of a few cold cuts, a few types of cheese slices, Wonder bread, stale croissa... Read more

We stayed in this hotel on the first part of our honeymoon. We booked it because it was so different to any other properties we looked at. The owners have maintained a period feel with some beautiful furniture. We stated in the Bilboa room which was very spacious. We had a large old oak framed bed which was very comfy. The bathroom was large with a roll top bath and over head shower. Towels were changed every day with daily room service. The hotel is a short walk to Bilboa Park which is amazing.... Read more

This B&B is a delight. Beds are comfortable, room was clean, and breakfast was fine. Right next to Balboa so one can walk to museums. Good Italian restaurant , named Cucina, is two blocks away. Public bus service very easy and close. The building itself is interesting, including the old carriage house which was our room.

My husband and I stayed for one night after the Desert Trip music festival. It is a truly beautiful B&B, quite near the San Diego Zoo and the Gaslamp Quarter. It has been restored to the tune of several million dollars to its original Victorian splendour. The rooms are huge and the bed was probably one of the most comfortable I'd ever slept in. Since we only stayed one night, I'm afraid I can't say much about this location. I suppose the only suggestion I have is to try to get a room on the se... Read more

I enjoyed my stay in the Aesthetic Room on the 2nd floor. I appreciated the complimentary water upon arrival and found the room to be beautifully decorated, comfortable, clean, and quiet. The inn was within walking distance to Balboa Park and a close drive to the airport, which made the price of the room a great deal ($99 a night with tax on Expedia). I was mainly disappointed with the staff and the breakfast. One woman who worked there was cold, distant, and hard to locate when I needed assista... Read more
