"The lady at the front desk was very helpful, cheerful and made sure we were happy with our accommodations. The bar had happy hour specials and we chose the fish tacos and margaritas, both were really good along with a friendly bar tender even though he was busy we had good service. We had a really nice up to date room with two queen beds, kitchenette, small living area, flat screen TV right next to the harbor over looking the boats with our own patio. The location is excellent being so
close the airport and San Diego Bay."

"I have stayed at the Island Palms in the past and love the location, amenities and the curteous staff. This trip was for a 7 night stay and we were booked in a room that had the 'adjoining' door option. The guest in the next room seemed to be in a different time zone than us and was awake all night and entertained in the room... We were awakened and kept awake 6 of the 7 nights we were there. I asked to be moved but since this was Memorial Day weekend they did not seem to have any other rooms available. They did send security to the room next door every time we complained but the problem continued. Not sure what, if anything, the hotel could have done but they may have wanted to consider asking the guest next to me (in room 415) to leave since he was causing a major disturbance."

"We stayed for 6 nights, friendly atmosphere great pool and hot tub. Workers from grounds crew to front desk always smiling and friendly. A great view of the bay/Marina as well as Downtown San Diego. Wonderful breakfast at the restaurant, Rooms were somewhat small and no light in the shower, but overall a great hotel and would stay again, clean rooms!"

"Beware of the parking lot. In a lot that is monitored by the hotel and constantly traveled by employees. No one saw who hit my car and left extensive damage without leaving a note. Beware when leaving your car in their lot. What seemed to be a really reasonably priced hotel turned into one very expensive trip!"

"My wife and I had a wonderful time here. The staff was great. We had a room in the Casa Marina building looking out over the docks. The views were wonderful.
The Blue Wave has fantastic breakfasts. The meals were so big, we split several and still had plenty.

"We stayed in the Palm suite for 5 days. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. The main reason we chose a suite was so that we could cook our meals and not eat out. I was dissapointed by what was offered in the kitchen. There was no dish soap, sponge or dish towels and there were nosharp cutting knifes or wine opener. We called the front desk and requested these things the first evening but nothing showed up. The second day, my husband finally went down to the front desk to find these things and they said they would send them up, but still nothing. It ook us calling again, to finally get a sponge and dishsoap. And much longer to get a whine opener and some rather dull steak knifes. These are basics in a kitchen in most places I have stayed. I would like to stay there again, but think the kitchens should be better stocked!!"

"My husband and I stayed for five days to celebrate our 35th anniversary and it was an excellent trip! We arrived an hour early and not only were able to check in immediately, but when I asked if we were able to snag a room with a king size bed we were told that they had done better than that and upgraded us to a jr. suite. As it turned out it was a 2 double bed rather than a king suite, but it was clean, spacious, open. airy and had a kitchenette. We were facing the marina with a patio all our own with a beautiful view. The wooden shutters added some class to the room and we were quite comfy.
We went to the hotel restaurant for a late lunch the first day. The arichoke cream soup and calamari that I ordered and the turkey sanwich that my husband had were all excellent fare. I would have loved to get the recipe for that soup from the chef! We went to the restaurant for breakfast the next day, and that was disappointing after the wonderful lunch the day before.
My husband is disabled, so slept late the first day and had the do not disturb sign up. so we had our room cleaned (very well) the next day. The day after that the housekeeping crew skipped our room, and my husband called to get the room cleaned, but nobody came for an hour so he put the sign back on the door so he could nap and lay on his heating pad to help his pain.
The only inconvenience that I would have changed was that there was no chest of drawers, so we lived out of our suitcases for 5 days, and things tend to get a little wrinkled that way.
All staff we dealt with were very polite, cheerful, friendly and helpful. I would dfinitely go back and stay at this hotel again. "
