"Stayed here and enjoyed everyday - staff was very friendly and helpful - used the shuttle service three times - returned a rental car and they picked me up and brought me back to the hotel - freely gave information on things to do - never used the pool - too busy at the shops in Old Town and using the transit system to travel to the beaches - very convenient!! Old Mining Company restaurant was a very good place to eat - cleaning service was very good - have nothing but good things to say about staff and facilities"

"I was traveling with a group of college students and needed to find a place that was nice but budget friendly. This hotel far exceeded my expectations! The facility was very clean, loaded with charm, and right in the heart of Old Town. There were plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance -which kept everyone happy. The service was excellent and we greatly enjoyed the buffet breakfast that was included in our deal."

"This is a nice hotel and impressed with the room. It is a great place for adults to stay, but if you have kids, there are NO FREE tv stations for kids to watch. It cost $3.99 to watch one show! You could pay for a package and get more shows (only Disney or PBS shows). I've never been to a hotel where they did not have at least one station for kids. My son is 2 and since we were only staying one night I didn't bring anything else he could watch shows on. I will NOT stay here with my son again, but if staying overnight without him in San Diego I would stay. The pool was nice but small and they did not have anymore pool towels in the evening."

"3 time I have stayed here. Always special, relaxing, clean, beautiful area half a block from the main street. Great hot tub, nice pool just a great place to call home stayed six nights this time hope for a longer stay next time. Pay $15 and you gets 4 day transit pass and you can be down town in 15 minutes!"

"This is a very nice hotel. Hotel located in Old Town it is easy access to Transit Centre (buses , AmTrak and Coaster.) and plenty of good restaurants and pizzerias.Also has many good gift shops and parks nearby. Hotel provide a free shuttle from and to the airport. Staff were efficient , friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and cosy. We had a great experience and hope will be back."

"Very nice hotel. Great atmosphere and Spanish ambience. Well located in Old Town for easy access to Transit Centre (buses , AmTrak and light rail - only $5 for an all day pass!) and plenty of good restaurants.
Had a double queen room, beds were comfy and very cosy. Despite it being January, the room was warm in the evenings due to a western aspect. Staff were efficient and cleaners were thorough.
Also has complementary airport shuttle service. That and the nearby Transit Centre make renting a car superfluous. Only drawback was noisy early morning delivery and garbage trucks at the shops/restaurants below the hotel. Would stay there again and recommend it to my friends."

"We got there and the girl wasn´t very nice she gave us the worst room in the hotel the only room with construction right in front of our window. We went to talk to the manager and this person is a gentleman he switch rooms for us and not only he did this he gave us the best view ever! great experience beautiful hotel right at the heart of old town."

"We had a retirment party in the Old Town area. The hotel location was perfect and allowed us to walk everywhere we needed to go in the area. I loved the patio area off my room. It was very relaxing and peaceful.

"Such a cute place! I loved the decor and location. Checked in to a great King room with flat screen TVs our location just next to the lobby. This was a good spot on the 2nd floor since there are lots of stairs and not much elevator access. We had another room in building 600 at the top of the hill. This building did have elevator access from parking garage so perfect access with all the baby stuff my sister had to travel with. No flat screens but it did have an amazing view and smoking patio. We were settled in by 7pm and were so happy to learn the on site resturant, Alcapulco was open for HAPPY HOUR until 8pm!!! Thanks to our outstanding waitress. She notified us about the happy hour option before we walked out and had fantastic recommendations starting with the skinny margarita and special apps. Hotel staff was also a pleasure (front desk, maintenance, cleaning, etc.....). Highly recommended for the a fit guest due to all the stairs (PS. I'm not that fit and still loved it but if your not prepared for all the stairs you may be upset about it)."

"We loved our stay at the Best Western Plus Hacienda Hotel in Old Town. What a great location! We loved the view and breezes from the top of the hill. The smells from all the nearby Mexican restaurants were great! We had a spacious and clean room with little fridge and microwave. It was perfect until a high school reunion showed up to meet at the room next to ours. It got very loud. We called the front desk and they immediately put us in a room far away from the noise. We were impressed with their quick response. The hotel is oddly situated on a hill with lots of elevators. It's easy to get lost! But, we will definitely be coming back. It was fun to experience the culture and flavors of Old Town!"

"This is a beautiful hotel, with awesome views of San Diego. If you walk down the many stairs of the hotel, you are close to the many restaurants and shops of old town. Hint: ask for a room on or close to the pool level. The other floors are very high up, and you will spend too much time on elevators or walking stairs. Second hint: don't pay the daily parking fee. It's easy to park across the street."

"We love Old Town San Diego & living in S. California, I've always seen this Best Western & thought what a great location is has! It's right in the heart of Old Down! So, when my son had a soccer tournament in SD, we decided to stay here. That way, we could walk to Old Town at night & not have to worry about parking. But, as luck has it, they placed us in the building farthest from the action and at the top of a San Francisco-sized hill! So, after a long day, we weren't too anxious to hike down to Old Town (that was the main reason we had opted to stay here! Easy access to the action!) While the front staff was friendly and helpful (they quickly brought us a toothbrush when my son realized late at night that he'd forgotten his), there was a lot that made this hotel just 'ok' in our book! The first thing I noticed when I entered the bathroom was a long black hair on the toilet (I was the first in my family to enter the bathroom & none of us has long, black hair!). When my son went to take a shower, the bathtub quickly filled with water & the only way we could get the water to go down was to completely unscrew & remove the stopper. But, I think the kicker was when my son was in bed & asked to watch a little tv while his dad & I got ready for bed. We quickly realized that Best Western (like a couple other hotels that we've recently visited), isn't interested in being a hotel for families, but rather a hotel that takes advantage of families! Of the limited selection of tv channels they offered, not ONE was for kids. So, I noticed that they had 'On Demand' and thought that surely there must be something there for kids?? Nope! Just movie previews! The only option they have for kids is to pay $3.99 for ONE 30 minute Disney tv show, or $9.99 for unlimited viewing of these shows (before noon)!!! Nice! They know that once kids are in the hotel room, there's little for them to do and that most will end up asking to watch tv! What a pathetic attempt to rip off families! Yes, my kid can live without tv, but why offer tv options for adults and not for kids? The only reason I can see is to make money. Best Western knows that most families, when stuck together in the cramped quarters of a hotel room will break down and cough up the money for at least ONE of the shows! Tactics like this will quickly turn off families. When waiting in the long line to check out (yes, had to wait in line to sign the charge for the one tv episode we finally broke down & paid for! Haven't actually had to 'check-out' at the front desk in years! Waste of 20 minutes of my day! Not sure why Best Western can't do like other hotels & find a way to check out without having to wait in line!), I realized that we weren't the only ones who were bothered by the 'pay $3.99 per kid show' scam. The woman in front of me turned and asked me if I could believe that they made us pay per episode & once we started discussing it, 2 other families chimed in! Not the best PR strategy Best Western! There are a LOT of other mediocre hotel chains to choose from & when push comes to shove, if it comes down to choosing between Best Western & another comparably priced hotel with FREE kids channels, I can tell you we won't be staying at Best Western!!"

"Beautiful place to stay, plan on staying there again this coming summer! I loved it except for one thing. I left a duffle bag hanging on the backside of the bathroom door, filled with a collection of my favorite CD music. I left it there after checking out. When I called the following afternoon, I asked the front desk to investigate and see if they returned it to the front desk. They said that the maid told them they werent able to find it...so be careful...don't leave anything of value sitting around, or forget an idem when checking out."

"We had a wonderful time at this hotel. We arrived for the weekend on Friday evening after dark, so the hotel entrance was a little hard to find. We brought several couples with us and they were very accommodating and were able to put our rooms in the same vacinity. The layout of the hotel is a little confusing and alot of stairs, but it was absolutely beautiful with spectacular views. If you want a hotel within walking distance of Old Town and the Trolley this is your hotel. We will definately stay here again."
