My experience with the hotel was a very positive one. My room was spectacular. Only two low points. No coffee/coffee pot in the room. The business center computers would not allow us to print Virgin America boarding passes. It happened first on Sunday, they then assured us they had updated the computers and it would work. I tried again on Wednesday and had to go to the front desk to have them print it for me. Staff very friendly, walking distance to many great amenities. Would definitely... Read more

As a local San Diegan, I've been to the Hard Rock a few times to visit the restaurants and nightlife events, but this was my first time staying overnight. Shelby made sure I had all my questions answered for making my first stay, which also happened to be my birthday, would go as smoothly as possible. Check-in was great, they gave me 4 comped passes for the pool party and surprised my girlfriends and I with a bottle of champagne on ice! :) The bed was heavenly and the double rain shower was a pl... This hotel has such a pleasant air of ease about it and one realizes it is because the team of employees are so kind and courteous across the board. As a business traveler I was truly taken by the top to bottom professional behavior of the team that works here, in this case over four days not a single person deviated from their naturally kind demeanor. I found housekeeping, front desk, bell hop, security, Mary Jane and event teams were universally exceptionally competent and wonderful people. K... Read more

Overall, nice property with some great features. Excellent, friendly, well-trained staff. Great location. Just a couple of glaring issues, one oversight, and one just plain bad policy. 1) Oversight, there are no electrical outlets near the sink and mirror. My wife had no place to dry her hair near a mirror. May be an abundance of safety caution, but every other 4-star hotel has them. 2) Policy forbidding guests to bring their own alcohol into guest rooms is ridiculous. It is senseless an... Read more

I usually stay at Hard Rock no matter where I travel. I didn't really like the staff at this place. I had arrived around 10 am, eyes red, from a 16 hour flight from China, and no sleep. I had called earlier to see if I can check-in a bit early. I was told it was not to be a problem at all. I got there, in real bad shape. They explained they had no rooms. However, a person came down with an issue with his AC, and guess what, they showed him to another room. I waited from 10:00 AM to about 2:00 pm... Read more

If you're in town for any kind of even in the Gaslamp (conference, Padres game, etc) the Hard Rock is extremely convenient. Based on the position of your room, the noise level can be a bit bad. Rooms overlooking 6th Street (toward Petci Park) often have early morning deliveries that start around 5:30 am. Rooms overlooking the convention center have consistent train noise. Given this, the noise level here is much better than at other hotels. The Hard Rock needs an upgrade though with visible w... Read more

I wanted to love this hotel. I wanted to really love it, but there were things that fell short for me. Pros: Prime location: Those who get t room here during comic con are lucky to have quick access to the convention without paying the horrifying prices of the Marriot Hotel. The ambiance and décor match the theme of the hotel: Very hip. And lots of cool costumes and guitars to look at. Awesome Pool/Hot Tub: It was very relaxing. Need I say more? The hotel was nice, good service, good room. The issue was that my room had a big patio that opened into a sort of courtyard. The patio was awesome, I was psyched. But on the weekend they hold parties in that courtyard. I did not know this in advance. It's well located and caters to attendees -- if you're not here for the convention while it's taking place, it can be overwhelming as it its entrance is monitored by security guards to keep out non-hotel guests during the 4 day event. It's fun if you're looking to get together with friends to enjoy local events, drink around the city, or even take on the weekend pool parties they provide. Loved the bedding and had a hard time getting up when it was time to check out :) The reason for 4 stars is the pool. It's tiny and there is no open (free) seating, only lounges and cabanas that you have to pay for. Parking note: Valet is $47 - yes you read that correctly - a night. The hotel is a short block from Petco Center/Padres Stadium, across the Convention Center and Trolley stop and next to all restaurants and bars at the Gaslamp District. Service is great, room a bit noisy on the pool/convention side if there are activities going on until after midnight, however, I was given a choice when I checked in and I chose this view. Overnight get away for Black Friday and our anniversary. ()3 Black Friday deal made this very affordable so we upgraded to the Hard Rock King Suite. From the rooftop pool to dinner at Nobu, we had an amazing time. The staff are the friendliest and I loved being able to text requests.

My sister and I came for a mini staycation and were lucky enough to meet Robbie who hosted the VIP lounge. He was super friendly and awesome and not to mention easy on the eyes. We will definitely come back!
