If you are staying in San Diego and want a superb hotel experience in the heart of Down Town then stay at the Hard Rock Hotel. Situated in the perfect spot in the Gaslamp Quarter, a superb roof pool and fire pit area and some of the best customer focused staff of any hotel I have stayed at. Treat yourself to a suite room which are amazing if you can.

My boyfriend and I decided to do an impromptu stay-cation when I got an email notifying me that rooms were 40% off for the weekend and I had always wanted to stay at the Hard Rock hotel chain. We got an upgrade to a King Suite with a view of the Woodstock Terrace, the pool and the Convention Center. It was absolutely fantastic! I loved having a living room space with a curtain you could close between the bedroom area and the bath area. I liked having 2 tvs (one in each room) so when I woke u... Read more

Hotel was in a great location and Jill made us feel like important guests. Never stayed at a hotel where they text you to ask if they can do anything for you. We were disappointed with our view so she upgraded us to a higher floor with a fabulous view. Wish we could have stayed longer and check out the rooftop pool and bar but we spent most of the evening at the ball park which was literally a block away. Would stay again next time we get back to San Diego.

The Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego is beautiful! The rooms are huge and the staff is amazing. We were blessed to have such gracious lovely staff check us in. Carly V was wonderful and had such a delightful personality. We decided to upgrade to a bigger room, she said we wouldn't regret it and boy was she right! The view from our room was great, we could see all of the Gaslamp and even the Ballpark! We watched the sunset from the balcony and we both said Carly was right!!!! Next time we decided to ... Great Location. Close to anything and everything. Most expensive Uber Ride was $15.00 and that was way out. Most were $5.00 but the best part was that within a 10 minute walk there is all you really need and or would want. Excellent pool and very comfortable, clean room. Friendly staff. Extremely comfy pillows and bed.

My boyfriend fell asleep early both nights we stayed there so I didn't want to walk around the Gas lamp District all alone. Instead, I went to the spots inside the hotel. Nobu, the night club and the Float bar. I just mingled with other people there and ended up making the most of not having my date. We went to the pool during the day on Saturday. It was really fun, but the pool is kind of small. We also walked over to the Padres game. Beautiful stadium. I rented a Fender Strat on Friday night a... Read more

This hotel is in a super awesome location in the gaslamp district, super close to the ballpark & across from the convention center. It seems very hip & happening. We loved the comfortable bed, 2 TVs, large size of the king suite, & how they accommodated our request for a quiet room. However, valet parking was crazy expensive ($47/day) & the valet guy seemed a bit miffed when we told him we'd rather park at the nearby parking structure ($15/day & additional $1/hour) that ended up costing us $16... Negatives- hallways smell gross and are not clean, elevator is dirty and a pain to use, water is $8 a bottle, free coffee is only for 3 hrs, room layout is poorly lit making makeup application impossible, bathroom is not private overall San Diego is a great city, hard rock is a last resort kinds hotel.

Love this hotel. Have stayed here often. My only criticism is the crowd from the pool deck is quite rough, and the "element" is felt throughout the hotel on a holiday or summer weekend. This is not a hotel you want to bring young kids to. But the service, food, rooms and location are great! This is way better than an institutionalized property like Hilton.

We spent one night at the Hard Rock to celebrate our 10th anniversary and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is overall great with well-appointed rooms, but the highlight of this property is the service. The hotel was great. The view was amazing. Nice hotel rooms. Great location. My only complaint is the obnoxiously overpriced convenience items in the room. It cheapens the whole experience. Thank you for your stay. Are you thirsty? How about an $11 one liter water bottle. By the way, that doesn't include a 20% service charge and 8% sales tax. That' a $14 bottle of water. When I stay at Hilton properties, they give you water for free which is a nice touch.

The kids enjoyed the pool and their chocolate-dipped strawberries as us adults enjoyed our view and whiskey tastings. Lovely and very memorable sweet 16 for all!

I first stayed at the Hard Rock almost 8 years ago and it was part of what made me fall in love with San Diego. I have just completed a road trip from Vancouver to San Diego and I couldn't think of a better place to spend my time whilst in the area. Perfectly located for the Gaslamp district with unrivalled service if you want a cool and vibrant hotel with a great pool/bar area.

More than half the rooms have really bad views of a parking garage or worse (in my case a roof top with a bunch of HVAC units). I booked a suite with a terrace, but it really wasn't something you could chill and relax on (see picture). The bathroom had a noisy fan that could not be turned off, the sink faucet was designed by an idiot.

Our shower door kept getting stuck and youd have to throw your body on it to open it. The sink is also cracked and looked bad. Also I paid for the VIP chdcmnin and we did it get our complimentary beverages at check in which is annoying since I had to pay extra to check in there I expected to get it and we never did.

I want to start out by saying Katie, at the front desk was incredible. Very down to earth, fantastic customer service and very accommodating. We had a slight issue with our room and she not only fixed our issue but made it a great upgrade. We then went to the bar, 207, in the lobby and had a great time with the bartenders. They even comped our first round of drinks for our wait and first anniversary. So sweet. The team definitely took care of us. We will be back specifically for the great cus... Read more

Best hotel is Gaslamp District. It is centrally located to the wonderful restaurants and bars San Diego has to offer. Room was fantastic; my balcony overlooked Petco Park, although there was no ballgame. Great atmosphere at the outdoor lounge. I would absolutely recommend this hotel!

Anniversary trip to San Diego- we decided not to go to Padre game so we could relax in roof top pool/hot tub. When we went to go into pool, there was party going on in adjacent space (no one using pool/hot tub), we were denied access. In addition, the party was LOUD and could not get any sleep until after 2am. We had an early flight out, so this added to the frustration. When I called Front Desk, said nothing they could do, I asked for a Mgr.- said not available. When gave them this follow up r... Read more

While in town for a large convention, I booked a stay at the Hard Rock. Not only was it one of the most affordable hotels in the area, my friends who paid more at other hotels were astounded at how much better my room was than theirs. The rooftop bar became the hot spot of the convention even! Anything I needed, I could simply text the concierge, and it would be taken care of quickly. I even paid a visit to the Rock Spa, and that was incredible too! Highly recommend.

We used Hotwire for our stay so we did not know which hotel it would be and it ended up being the Hard Rock in downtown San Diego, CA. We knew that this was a newer hotel and had not stayed here before, so we thought that we were in for a real treat. When we arrived, the lobby looked excellent. It was "energetic" in appearance and clean and well maintained. The check-in process was a hassle because we had to sign a 3-part electronic form. This weekend was a great opportunity to see the Hotel staff at high intensity of work as 4000 people descended on the hotel for their Halloween Bash. Location could not be better: right across the street from the SD convention center. Having Nobu in the building is a plus. Collection of rock and roll memorabilia displayed throughout the hotel is nice, too. Staff were OK but sometimes annoying when repeatedly knocking on room door despite "do not disturb" sign.
