Mrs Despot and I wanted a clean hotel close to the train line for our next leg of travel up to the ski fields. We got all that as the station was just a block behind us, and we had a comfortable room, efficient wifi, and I can't recall too much noise at all. The hot buffet breakfast was included, and certainly set us up for the day. A bonus to us was the proximity to the Old Town, so it was easy to pop out and choose from a great range of restaurants.

The Vagabond Inn is located right across 3rd St from Old Town Sacramento. It's a quick 3 minute walk. The hotel itself has all the basic amenities you need - comfortable beds, clean, free breakfast, plenty of space, decent TV and low cost. We stayed on the side along I street and found it to be a bit noisy at night - fortunately the hotel provides earplugs (on bathroom tray) and that took care of any problem. Breakfast (in the back of Perkos) was good, included scrambled eggs, sausage, potat... Read more

You have to reconnect every 10-15mins. the staff gave me a 1-800# to call and they were no help. the bath tube had a broken head and the drain pug was missing. The comforters on the bed were nice, after folding them back it was not clean and looked like it was user as a hanky. The staff were nice and helpful.

This turned into a very good visit to Sacarmento by staying here. It had a few bad reviews, but for us it was all good. Great staff, clean, great beds and right in the city. Once you are there, you just leave the car and walk around the city.

Excellent value for money. Rooms and beds are clean and comfortable. Nice swimming pool. Friendly staff. Complimentary, tasty, breakfast is in the next door restaurant. Plenty of private parking spaces. Have staid in many, far more expensive hotels in Sacramento, but will definitely stay in this one next time.

The hotel is a within a short walk to the Old Downtown area and the CA Railway Museum. As such, it is very convenient, reasonably priced as well as being clean and comfortable. A full breakfast is served. It has good parking and the staff were efficient and friendly. We were happy with the choice and would use it again if we were in the Sacramento area.

I stayed here for a work trip, and I chose it based on location to where I needed to be every day. It's nothing fancy by any means, there's no room service, or bar in the lobby, but it was decent enough for my purposes. The morning breakfast at the restaurant next door was really great and came free with my room stay. It is also a convenient distance to Old Town. Other areas, however, you'd need a shuttle. Comfortable rooms, helpful, friendly staff. Free shuttles to and from airport are a big plus. It's time for a little sprucing up, which I think has begun. Very comfy beds. The breakfast looked amazing, but we didn't have time. Full on cooked breakfast! I can't get over how comfy the bed was...... thanks! Smelled very clean. Too clean. But, maybe I didn't like it because I hate hospitals? Either way, I would say there again.

front desk staff was friendly and answered all of my questions about parking. Room was clean but a bit dated. Very convenient location to get onto Interstate 5 and be at the airport within 15 minutes in the morning. Hotel location is in "old sacramento" area.

I stay here about once a month. The check-in process is swift and easy. The location is pretty good. They have a free shuttle service that I like to use to get meals and to go to the office. The rooms are always clean and I love how each room has a microwave and refrigerator.

Stayed here for a night for a concert at the Ace of Spades. Super friendly staff, plenty of space in the rooms. Clean and cant beat it for the price. A short cab ride to the downtown area. Pretty quiet at night and probably the best complimentary breakfast spread I've ever had at a hotel. No joke.

We have stayed at Vagabond inn for many years and have always been very satisfied. This time we found most of the lights had problems. Either they weren't plugged in or the switches didn't work. I called the front desk and they had a maintenance man there before we got back to the room. The problems were all fixed. I also noticed , when I dropped something, that there was a lot of dust under the bed and behind the night stand. They were also out of Kleenex and the maid gave me a new box. ... Read more

If you are traveling to Sacramento by train, stay here. Period. Otherwise, at least consider it. This is a standard-issue motel offering value for money. Rooms are roomy, and pretty OK. The back side (by the highway and the train station) can be noisy, but this is mostly due to the construction at the station (thank you, ten years and counting). The motel is a leisurely 5-minute walk from the Amtrak and light-rail station. My only actual complain would be that the drainage in the sink was... Read more

Traveling North or South on HI5, great place to stay as a pit stop. Right off HI5, easy to find, walking distance to Old Town. Clean, reasonable, has all the one needs. Have stayed here before for a few days, this time one night only. Great full breakfast, saves time for the road trip...fast to get back on the road. The only draw back is that it is downtown and next to freeway, so heavy traffic...they do provide earplugs, which we used. Can't have everything, convenient proximity to all without ... Read more

Room was on the west facing side of the hotel next to a larger tower that blocked the sun so the room was very dark inside. Although we had a non smoking room there is still a musty old smoke smell common in older hotels who were built before non smoking rooms were common - it seems it's impossible to completely remove it. The room was fine, the bathroom was tiny and old but clean except for a small amount of mold in the shower. The hotel was quiet but the walls are thin so you can hear your nei... Read more

The staff was friendly, the rooms were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. But the noise at 7:30 am from the maintenance using the leaf blower and people in the pool after hours. would have been a great stay if the noise hadn't woken us up so early.

This hotel was very easy to travel to and was very close to Old Town Sacramento. The room, although showing signs of age, ie. old bathroom tiles, and fixtures and yellowing, it was relatively clean. It was very close to the freeway so traffic noise was very apparent, hence why there was ear plugs left for the guests. We were however awoken at 6AM by someone yelling profanities, leaving us wondering as to what clientele the hotel catered to, safety an issue? So with this in mind, I wouldn... Read more

The property is very close to the highway, but is not very convenient to get to. The parking area is fenced and feels secure. The room was very clean and well appointed, the complimentary breakfast was well above average. Staff was courteous and attentive. Would recommend for business or family customers.

It was our friends 50th Birthday, we all decided to take her to Old Sac for Shopping, eating and a Pub Crawl. We all stayed at the Vagabond Inn. It was clean, secure, a good buy, and the Staff was Friendly as well as helpful. I would tell anyone to give it a try. Best part it was so close to Old Sac (right across the street) well lit parking area.

We chose this motel as it was right across the street from the Amtrak station. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. It's an older property but well maintained ,clean and safe. There's a small pool and hot tub area with some tables. It's a short walk under the freeway to Old Town Sac. The included breakfast buffet is small but adequate. I really liked the toiletries provided.

Loved the old fashioned hospitality of this motel. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, especially Ady & Dennis, in making our Sacramenento stay memorable. The price was reasonable, the location was excellent-we could walk to Old Town although Dennis insisted on driving us in the shuttle the first time to point out the way. We would stay there again for sure.

We needed two nights in Sacramento and somewhere reasonable. The Vagabond came up on booking.com and the price seemed reasonable Located below the I5 Interstate just off exit 219b the Vagabond was easy to find. We checked in, a seamless process, and found our ground floor room perfect for our needs. Adequate Bathroom, flat screen TV and a comfortable bed. There was also a refrigerator, microwave and Coffee making gear with Wolfgang Puck Coffee - excellent. Outside there is a pool and a gymnasiu... Read more

The room was nice, the staff at the front desk was great but the rest were weird and kind of rude. The one elevator that they had continued to not work which was annoying with 3 full bags and other things to carry up two flights of stairs, even though the staff knee about it and saw us none of them even offered to help. Location was good though. Would go back only because of the price and the location other than that the staffed sucked and weren't helpful at all.

This is the second time we have stayed here. The staff is helpful and friendly. Rooms are a bit dated and you can hear the traffic but the same was true when we stayed at a much pricier hotel. This one is so close to Amtrak which is what we wanted. We could leave our car in their parking lot for a reasonable price and walk across the street to catch the train. Awesome!

First, the staff is very kind and helpful. But there are problems here. The room is outdated. I can live with that. You just need to be aware. The restaurant next door where they offer breakfast is quite disgusting. It is dark and dirty. The food tasted ok, but made me nervous because of the condition of the restaurant. Last, it is very loud here. I was awakened several times during the night because of fire alarms going off, people walking and talking loudly, and various industrial noises. Ove... Read more

So the hotel itself is nice, updated, pretty good breakfast. The location is great in downtown Sac and I knew it was next to the freeway. So I asked for a room in the back away from the freeway. The problem is the door literally has a one-inch gap at the bottom and a window above the door. It's an older hotel so the windows are old. With the gap, it was like the door was wide open and the freeway was so loud all night long. And with the window above the door and the light right out side the door... Read more

Good hotel within walking distance of Old Town Sacramento, downtown, capitol, Golden 1 Arena, and Amtrak station. They feature a pretty good above average breakfast and a pool. The room was fairly clean and had modern looking decor and design. There's also free coffee/tea in an open work area behind the lobby. I would come back based on the convenient location, price, rooms, and amenities.

For the price, you can't beat the location. The room was itself was pretty good, comfy bed and good size. The bathroom was pretty dingy, old with some stains and toilet had a loose base. Breakfast was a big spread - eggs, pancakes, sausages, potatoes, biscuits. The set-up was cramped, though, with everyone kind of bumping into each other while getting food.
