Where to begin with this hotel? First, you should know that it is located on an active superfund site which is filled with hexavalent chromium - you can look this up trivially enough, the place is called McClellan AFB. Next, you should know that you can smell every bit of its legacy. Although we had a non-smoking room, the hallway had a permanently smoked-out odor that left us retching. Speaking of retching, they bombed the bathroom so hard with bleach that it made our eyes water and our noses r... Read more

It is our first time staying at Lions Gate Hotel, we are visiting from Las Vegas and we are amazed by the hospitality of the people that works here. The friendliness of the staff from the front desk to the cafe is phenomenal. We stayed here for 3 days with my two little kids and the housekeeping people did such a great job of reorganizing our room. That's why i would like to thank the whole crew of the housekeeping department who all went above and beyond of taking care of us, kudos to all of yo... Read more

The hotel was kind of hard to find and is spread out over a large area in several different buildings and parking to check in was very limited. The room we had was a room set up for a wheel chair so was different than we were use to. We were a day late checking in and our reservations had been cancelled and this was the only room available. It was spacious and clean. We were registered to be there for 3 nights but my wife broke three toes the first night . They helped us find an ER to go t... Read more

I came to Sacramento for a training and I wanted to stay close by to the training site. Lions gate was within walking distance. The hotel is nice no complaints with room or facilities. But wow what good communications , service, friendly staff. In the human factor they get a 120%. Room had all i needed the free breakfast was very good. I did not try the wi fi. The restaurant staff was excellent. Like at any other hotel the prices at the restaurant are high for my liking. Beautiful and well cared... Read more

Great little oasis off of what looks like a sort of seedy area. Would I stay here for vacation or a romantic weekend, probably not. If you have business at McClellan AFB it's a great location. If you are having a group gathering it would be perfect. The architecture of the old air base is really cool. The restaurant and bar were excellent and hopping every night. The breakfast was good and the coffee was awesome. The maids could do a little better uncle ding between patrons.

My reason for visiting this facility was a national dog show. It was a good choice for this event as there was lots of area to walk the dogs. The hotel itself was part of an old Air Force base that had been shuttered but the entire facility had been converted to the hotel and a business park. I was told that back in the day, it was a base that many Air Force personnel wanted to be stationed at. I think it is great the the facility is being used in a positive way. My room was OK. It was typical... Read more

The motel used to be military housing, so some of the rooms are large enough to live in. We rented a suite that was 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The living room and dining room areas had an incredible amount of space. We had a small fridge, cupboards, sink, microwave and coffee maker in the kitchen. Both bathrooms were equipped with blow dryers. The beds were very comfortable and fell right to sleep, as soon as my head hit the plush pillows. The only thing that I didn't really care for, was... My large family needed a location that was kid friendly and relatively close to my aunt (it was her 95th birthday celebration). The most important amenity was the pool - it was great! I had rented an "executive luxury king" suite, which ended-up being the room pictured above (room 5120). The concrete table and benches in front of the room saw a LOT of evening use and the railing made a great place to dry suits and towels. This 1 bedroom plus living area was nice, and included a 2 seat bar, sink,... Read more

We travel frequently with dogs (2-6 at a time), and attended our national specialty at this venue in June 2016. Thanks to a local friend, we rented one of the cottages, which had a full fenced yard. The house itself was spacious, with plenty of room for all of our equipment, and it was very convenient for exercising dogs! The house was also within a very short (1 minute) walk to the conformation ring, but was probably 1/4 - 1/2 mile from the obedience/rally/agility rings. This is an older ho... Read more

After reading some of the negative reviews posted, I am pleasantly surprised by the rooms and the site location. My own room is large with a king size bed, a square writing table with office chair, as well as a small circular dining table with two wooden chairs by the window, kitchenette with sink and microwave ,and a TV. My co-worker has a queen size bed with a TV in an even larger room that is actually a suite with a separate living room with two small sofas, and ANOTHER separate TVs, and... Read more

The outer door to the hallway with the room doors has a lock that you need to put your room key in for it to open the door. Well it was not working, you could push the door open. Unfortunately homeless people were in that hallway at night. Before we left the door was fixed, it was unsettling, as it was not operational for two days. And this item is the main reason for the rating as safety should be the top priority. Besides that though, it was a nice place. 1. The rooms are very quite with re... Read more

This hotel utilizes the old Air Force base housing as the hotel. I'm currently staying in basically a 1br apartment that has a kitchenette with a small fridge and microwave. The room has been updated and the heat and air work well. The only thing is that there is no fan so I ran to the area Walmart and bought one to get some air movement going. Other than that, it's been great.

Small intimate surroundings on this old barrack style hotel. Food and service is exceptional for banquets and meetings. National bottle Club held it's national show there this year and it was a great success.

The rooms are comfortable. They were clean and the beds comfortable. If you get a 2nd Floor room there is no elevator. The rooms are the old Air Force Bachelor and Transient Quarters. Breakfast is okay the egg were cold and the bacon or sausage was only warm. Toaster takes forever to brown the toast. Lunch and Dinner have good food and if you are having an event there, this has some of the best Banquet food I've had. If your staying in the rooms and they have an event at the old O'Club th... Very nice, quiet setting, quiet in the room, easy access to parking from room, comfortable, clean, nice appointed, had everything I needed (microwave, refrigerator), Wi-Fi. The Lion's Gate bar/restaurant was also nice, excellent service, very good food, good atmosphere. Both were an easy walk though safe areas to the McClellan Conference Center.

This is a converted Army Barracks / Air Force Base converted into a motel hotel setting the service was good the food was pretty good these surroundings were very interesting and the rooms were very interesting Lee laid out it's very very quiet and it's kind of hard to find but it's in the middle of nowhere. We were there for a convention for 2 days and the staff went out of their way to make sure that we were all comfortable I would definitely stay here again

Clean sleeping room though some traffic noise. Room small but comfortable. A few minute uncovered walk to main part of hotel. Very relaxed service, with some spotty some ok. Breakfast not great. Other meals and catering quite good. Meeting space decent. All in all, you get what you pay for.
