I've stayed at Sparrows a few times before and it's been OK. In fact, some things have even improved over time -- the fact they offer cooked food now is a step in the right direction. The staff are friendly and well-intentioned...that alone is a sign the owners care about their guests. But. The fact that you can hear everything - and I mean EVERYTHING - through the walls to the next room(s) next door to you is really annoying. We speak in whispers in the room because we know that if we can hea... Read more

We spent one night at Sparrow's Lodge and it wasn't enough. Sparrows Lodge has a rustic/ luxury vibe. The setting seems like a Catskills Lodge with palm trees but one where every detail has been given careful thought. It's just lovely and relaxing. The staff is even better than the surroundings. Everyone was thoughtful, considerate and also extremely professional. It's rare when a place can bring it all together and present the perfect atmosphere. Sparrows Lodge does it and does it well.

I have never had so much fun at a hotel in a long time! This is a lovely 1950's structure that has been updated to a casual and fun place Decor is rustic desert chic (I just made that up) with rooms surrounding and opening onto inner courtyard and pool areas. No TV or radios but requisite fast free wi-fi for your devices. There is no apparent registration desk at the front of the hotel, just a cozy indoor/outdoor (one of the walls slides open to the courtyard) fireplaced sitting room. The b... Read more

It‚??s interesting, this concept of ‚??luxury‚??. We stayed at Sparrows Lodge and then at a chain ‚??luxury‚?? hotel in a different city the next night as we were traveling. Yes, Sparrows Lodge didn‚??t have marble countertops in the bathroom or an over-the-top bed with a hundred pillows. Or valet parking or big poofy bathrobes or humongous breakfast buffet. It didn‚??t have any of those things. That said, how did they accomplish a more ‚??luxury‚?? experience than the Ritz-Four Seasons-JW-whate... Read more

We booked the Sparrows Lodge for Thanksgiving weekend. We arrived late on our first night so didn't get to see the whole property but loved the Tahoe lodge feel of the room. The next day we enjoyed the basic complementary breakfast while we took in the property. Very cool. We really enjoyed the vibe of this hotel -- super relaxed -- and yet the staff are very service oriented. No tvs helped us to unplug and the small restaurant/bar and fire pit were great places to unwind. The pool is nice... Read more

So my boyfriend works in Yucca Valley and we live in Orange County. He's always complaining about how long the commute to and from work is, so as a surprise I began looking for a hotel we could stay at the night before his shift started so that we would be near by and he wouldn't have to worry about waking up so early. Anyways, I was looking on trip advisor for anything available for a last minute booking. We were planning on going to morongo but they were sold out. So I kept looking! My only ... Read more

This charming, rustic lodge is the perfect place to stay after a long day of hiking. The rooms are so unique and we loved the relaxing horse trough soaking tubs. We had a garden room towards the very back that had its own lovely patio. The pool, hot tub, fire pit and gardens are all immaculate. We enjoyed every minute we spent here. Not to mention the staff, they are welcoming and helpful. The only thing we thought was a bit ackward was the breakfast, they serve it on the bar and its ... Read more

My husband and I visited Sparrows Lodge to celebrate our anniversary. It came highly recommended by a friend but exceeded all expectations. The property was magical, room perfect and service incredible. Upon check-in we realized there was a slight goof in our reservation. They upgraded us to a gorgeous suite and comped us 2 of the most adorable truckers hats. We used the complimentary bikes to ride into town for drinks one evening and brunch the next morning. It was such a nice way to travel! Fi... Read more

We didn't stay at Sparrow's lodge. We were told about their great food so we went there for a lazy Sunday lunch. We ended up staying for hours as it was delightfully comfortable in their courtyard! The menu was limited but everything we tried ( mainly cob salads and burgers were great)and reasonably priced) . We shared a couple of bottles of wine which were a bit on the expensive side ( but well worth the money )and gorged on the dessert....the best chocolate fudge cookies I have ever had ( ... Read more

This is a charming and secluded lunch stop with dinners 2 days a week as well. The food, service, and location was out of the world. The burgers was hands down best ever! I've not stayed in the rooms but I peeked into one and they looked warm & roomy. It's very plain from the street and a little easy to pass without seeing much of a sign, but do stop and enjoy!
