This hotel could be a five starts for sure if they invested some money in renovation. The common areas are ok - two pool areas that are very nice. The not so good point I have to say are the rooms, you can see that everything is old and time is paying it's tool. It's not a cheap hotel and I wish they would invest the money to improve things there.

I couldn't afford to stay here but had a drink in the Starlite Lounge. I felt like Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin could be standing next to me. A very cool vibe and atmosphere. Elvis' pool table is in the lobby!

My wife Linda and I (my name is Barak) have been visiting the Riviera for the past 2 years; and have recently enjoyed our latest trip this past weekend. I have another 3 visits already on the books and plan on adding additional stays. I'm sure some of you are questioning whats the draw? First ; this is a beautiful boutique hotel set against the backdrop of an imposing mountain landscape that offers a chic plush vibe when pulling up to the valet and entering the lobby. Secondly the mere history ... Read more

I tend to opt for inexpensive sleeping accommodations when I'm traveling because I rarely spend much time at the hotel, but we decided to book this resort for my birthday at the recommendation of a friend who lives in Santa Monica. I booked a room with 2 friends through Groupon for a Tuesday and Wednesday evening in mid-May for $160/night, which split 3 ways is a very good value for what you get. According to other reviews, guests easily pay more than twice this at peak times, so if you can mana... Read more

Me and my now feonce visited the States for the ultimate, 3-week vacation. I had stayed at the Riviera 5 years ago, and it was a must to visit again. This was the place I was really looking forward to taking my partner, and had told her how amazing the setting and service was. Unfortunately I did not have the same experience this time. There were 3 things that we feel that just have to be addressed, all in relation to the pool area. 1) The service and mess around the pool. We had to clear awa... Read more

We just got back from spending our weekend at the Riviera yesterday. My fiance and I visit Palm Springs AT LEAST 6-7 times a year and The Riviera has always been our go to hotel. Easy, affordable, good service, great rooms, clean, etc.... Well that was not the case this last weekend. I was told the hotel has a new GM, Martin Greenwood, so maybe that is part of the problem. He definitely needs to work on his customer service skills. After hanging out at the pool for hours waiting for our room ... Read more

I love the Parker in Palm Springs but could not get into the hotel on the Saturday night over Memorial Day so I opted for the other Starwood Hotel close to town, the Riviera. I had stayed once before right after the hotel was renovated and the service had been terrible. There have definitely been improvements in terms of service with friendly staff at the pool, at the front desk and throughout the property. The downside was that the property was so full so there was fighting for lounge chairs a... Read more

Exceptional stay at Riviera. My wife and I were more than thrilled by the accommodations but more so, a personalized welcome amenity from the General Manager. Riviera exceeded all expectations (as it has before). Friendly and informed staff, immaculate facilities, programming/entertainment second to none. We look forward to returning in the not so distant future.

I've stayed at this hotel many times over the years, and wrote my first (rave) review of it in 2010. But I stayed this past weekend and was incredibly disappointed. While the rooms are still nice (though had some problems there), the hotel is attracting a different crowd now. If you're into the meathead scene, then this is the place for you. But the pool was crowded, the DJ was horrible (I think he was playing songs off his iPhone, with silent gaps in between each track), service from bartenders... Read more

This was our first stop on our American trip and it was a great place to settle in! The room was huge with two queen beds and good sized bathrooms. There are two pools - one was more popular than the other as one had a live DJ however the other one had plenty of space as well. There were a lot of people leaving towels down early in the morning, so if you are there on a holiday weekend be warned that this happens! Luckily we were jet-lagged so wide awake quite early and managed to get good beds... Read more

I drove 2 hours to Palm Springs and was told when I arrived at the hotel that the hotel was closed for a private party and that I could not even park my car or go inside the hotel to find out what was going on. The only positive thing I can say is that the hotel management was quick to give me a refund. If only they could have refunded the time that I wasted. The complete lack of organization at the hotel was enough to make me never want to go back.

Absolutely LOVED the Riviera Hotel! From the friendly and helpful staff to the amazing hotel decor, I can truly say that this experience was the biggest treat of all. The hotel itself is on the outskirts of the town center but the walk didn't take too long. Will definitely return to this hotel for the next Palm Springs getaway. Thank you!

When we got to the room The air was set at 75° and we could not change it at all so that was very uncomfortable another complaint I have is the coffee they only had a decaf and the cups that they gave us were enough for the standard cup coffee at the coffee pot only gave us one cup measurement each of coffee. We were recently in Palm Springs to celebrate a friend's 40th Birthday and were attracted to the Riviera based on recommendations and reviews. The location of the hotel is great and the place has great potential. As a caveat, Starwood recently acquired the hotel and they are undergoing renovations - major renovations that are a bit distracting from the overall appeal of the hotel. The entire lobby is under construction at this time and therefore rendering most of the space unusable. The rece... Read more

Numerous times we've stayed at this retro boutiquee hotel because we've enjoyed it. Note the word enjoyed. This last time we went the hotel looked run down, there were less staff and the staff that was on hand was unfriendly & useless. Apparently there had been a change in management within the last year or so & boy does it show.

First let me say that as an SPG Gold status member I expected a slight bit of consideration from this hotel. I would highly suggest that SPG pull out of this property as the current owner seems uninterested in keeping up with things. The hotel is made up of a few blocks of rooms ours overlooked the pool. The room had excellent toiletries and a wonderful walk in shower. The bars and restaurant served great food and an excellent wine list. The hotel had a large car park which is free to guests. This could be a lovely place to stay. It's faded and tattered in public areas but it's the housekeeping,or lack of it, that disappointed. We had a suite with an adjoining room for our son and his girlfriend. The first day, I had to call for coffee. Day 2, they didn't leave us any towels. The day after, my robe disappeared. That was also the day a roach ran across the bed but you're in the desert so I suppose it's unavoidable. The last day of our stay, our sons room wasn't cleaned at all and when... Read more
