I need to use handicapped parking, which turns out to be black clef constantly by people illegally parking in a red zone to check in. I couldn't get in or out until people moved their cars. Front desk didn't seem to think it was important. A fire alarm went off throughout the building in the middle of the night for about 5 minutes. Staff never mentioned it the next day. No apology, notes in elevator, nothing. Finally, I booked the hotel for two nights because it has a pool. It was unusable.... Read more

Homewood Suites in Oakland California was a pleasant surprise. The property is located right on the Marina and there are beautiful walkways by the water. The grounds have beautiful lawns and trees. The pool and hot tub are great, we like to enjoy both. The best thing about our stay was that the staff was great 100% of the time. Pleasant and helpful. The second best thing about our stay was the Breakfast and the Evening social. They had beverages, both alcoholic and others and a hot m... Read more

We wanted someplace to spend the night close to Oracle Arena. In a car, it only took us 15 minutes to get there and 15 minutes to return. We managed to avoid the traffic and that was wonderful. We did upgrade to a waterview and that was worth the cost.

This hotel looked nice, was clean and in a good location. HOWEVER, the service was disappointing. Breakfast was advertised as a full hot breakfast, but food items ran out often, as did utensils, coffee, orange juice, etc. Staff was not friendly or willing to fix problems promptly nor with a positive attitude.

We had two rooms. Stayed there to celebrate my son graduating from Berkeley. Had a party both nights. Everything worked well. The rooms were clean and comfortable and would stay there again if I was in the area.

Nowhere in my original receipt when I booked the hotel did it tell me that I was going to be charged with $50 upon check in for incidentals. So when I was surprised with this when checking in I questioned the staff member and he was very rude and unprofessional when helping me. Other than that it was a fairly decent stay.

This hotel is at a good location - close to the Oakland airport and by a lovely Marina. There is a nice German restaurant on the waterfront 1 block down from the hotel. The hotel room was nice enough and comfortable but the woman on the front desk on May 29 was unhelpful and unfriendly. The "free" breakfast was the worst I have seen. They ran out of food and dishes and seating area. They had a sign on the door leading to the outdoor patio saying "closed" but had no explanation as to why, so... Read more

They're cheap and cut corners. Housekeeping goes in your room against your wishes; staff is unapologetic. Breakfast is repetitive. They don't serve dinner, despite the website and staff saying they will. Stay elsewhere.

If you want breakfast, get there EARLY as they are extremely slow to replenish anything and everything. If you ask for something that is out - and everything is always out- as they only replenish a handful at a time - be prepared to wait. The second time is up, everything is quickly pulled off and out of reach and if you were waiting in line for an item, oh well - out of luck!

Right on the water, quiet location, room clean and well kept, enjoyed kitchen, free parking. Had issues with the bathroom toilet refilling every 20-30 minutes; told front desk but nothing done. Also shower was impossible to adjust temperature, either hot or cold. Vanity was dark and cramped. Breakfast was decent on Saturday, but Sunday they ran out of everything, closed the patio so there was not enough seating, and only appeared to have one girl working - awful!

Homewood Suites has a great location on the water and just off the freeway. We made reservations for a one bedroom suite plus a rollaway, which was confirmed. When we got there they advised that they had no rollaways - not that they had booked all of them, but that they don't offer rollaways at this property - they do not have any. So that was problem number one. That meant two ladies had to share a bed, which we weren't crazy about. We checked into the room and had a freeway view rather than ... Read more

The hotel is located right off the highway (between OAK Airport & Downtown OAK). I booked a studio room that was very spacious by "studio room" standards. The hotel was clean with modern decor, and the property offered free breakfast. The menu isn't extensive but it satisfies those who are on the go in the A.M. (e.g., eggs, bacon, waffles, oatmeal, cereal, bagels, juice). I wouldn't stay here longer than one night because I prefer more amenities and I am very picky about certain things; however,... The hotel room was nice. I was excited about the suite since it allowed a little privacy for my husband and I. I did notice moth holes in the curtains and there were brown stains on the curtain. It is recommended to park in the parking lot unless you want your license plate stolen. Also, the complimentary breakfast is of a poor quality so save your money and go out for breakfast.

I should have stayed in San Francisco instead. This hotel is located in an industrial area. There isn't much to do unless you have a car. The rooms and accommodations are quite outdated. The partickler room I was given, the last one available for the duration of my stay, had a horrible layout.

This is a very well kept property. Although there is nothing in immediate vicinity of the hotel, it's minutes away from Jack London Square and downtown Oakland by car. The hotel rooms are spacious and nice. I would have given it a five but I had difficulty extended my stay. In the phone the staff tilde the hotel was sold out bit I was able to book a room online without any problems. It was a little bit of a hassle for me.

We have stayed at this hotel 3 times in the last year. Twice we didn't get any sleep until past 1:00 am because of the noise. Last night, in the room next to us a large group was congregating. That went on until about 11:00 pm, after that it was the family including 4 children making a ruckus. Add to that more noise from upstairs made for a very miserable night. We go to Oakland often, but we will never stay at this place again!

Rooms are nice but can stand to be updated a little more. First room had a musty smell. Therefore, after several complaints we were able to move to another room. Thank goodness to one of the young front clerk desk that was really customer service focused. Breakfast was good however, evening social can be more health conscience. Evening socials menu consist of nachos, hamburgers which they can take charge to expand their menu to more vegetables vegie burgers, turkey burgers etc..

Booked this hotel for a two day business trip. Check in was quick, rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. Compared to other HS that we have stayed at the living room furniture & carpet were dated. The bathroom tile was loose right in front of tub so each time I walked over it it would move. The room faced the freeway and I was wondering about the earplugs they provided, that surely means something although I did not have to use them. After arriving late at night I was greeted by a warm front desk person and efficiently checked in. The lobby is being renovated but it will be done soon. The property looks a little tired, but very clean. The room I got was quiet large, one bedroom suite, and overlooking the water. Free breakfast starts at six am. My two concerns: the energy efficient ac unit works for a certain time after it senses movement. As a result at 2 am my room was getting hot and I had to get up to restart the ac.... Read more

We have stayed here every year for the past 5 years. Some physical improvements are being made. They now have a beautiful outdoor sitting area with grills, tables and fire pits. However, the dinners are not as good of quality, the juice tasted watered down, and the teas are lower quality than they used to be. Our bathroom tiles were cracked and missing lots of grout. They are finally actually following the water conservation protocol and don't switch out towels every day unless asked.

If you are staying at this hotel without a car then this facility may be appropriate for you. The staff is nice, construction is happening now and this does create some cleanliness issues. First impressions go a long way. My first impression on this visit didn't go very well. I was unfortunate enough to be "helped" by Maria, and actually helping seemed to be far down her list of priorities. I arrived at 3:00pm after doing e-check in, choosing my room and letting them know of my 3:00pm arrival. Almost always when I use e-check in things are ready to go, which obviously is the purpose of the practice. This time however I wasn't so lucky, Maria told me my room wasn't ready. I said "r... Also the availabiliy of parking was horrible, making you not wanting to drive anywhere late.
