We found this hotel thru trip advisor and were extremely pleased. Great location near all the things going on and right on the water. The rooms are nice and cozy and the bed very comfy. Breakfast in bed is a plus! Nothing major but a great way to start the day. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They only have valet parking as parking around the hotel is hard to find.

I have been coming here for 20 years. Its a great location walking distance to restaurants and aquarium. You can see Sea life from your window all day long. Wonderful views! BUT I think its time for a remodel. The chimneys obviously need to be cleaned as the alarms in the rooms go off repeatedly. I have been coming to the spindrift for more than 20 years and not sure I would return until certain items were cleaned up (one of which the chimneys) The rooms are extremely smokey which gives ambiance... My Wife and I were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary and I surprised her with a little trip to Monterey. I asked a couple friends for recommendations for food, lodging and the like and Spindrift Inn was given emphatically. I totally agree. This place was a Perfect place to "Venture" from. The staff was beyond, the location was easy and beautiful and the Room/Amenities were more than I could've hoped for. If Monterey is in your mix, STAY HERE!!!

We stayed at The Spindrift for 2 nights!! Rooms are old and need updating, very small, do not stay on The Cannery Row side as the noise is horrible!!!! The breakfast that is delivered to your room is very basic, $27 per night to park your car! Much better hotels in the area to stay!

We stayed here for 4 days and we loved the location and the room is very quaint, staff is very friendly. We loved the fireplace in the room. Unfortunately we were on the 3rd floor facing street. I believe the rooftop garden was above us as it sounded like a herd of elephants at all hours of day and night. The noise from the street - delivery trucks, trash etc.. We were awoken super early (6am ) everyday. For the amount we paid..some windows that deflect noise would have been appreciated.

I can't say enough amazing things about this hotel. We are East Coasters and are seriously considering going back sooner than we ever imagined because our experience here was just perfect. The "happy hour" in the lobby was a wonderful way to unwind after our drive up the coast. The staff was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable about the area. The location is just perfect - we had the Bay View and I would absolutely recommend paying for it. Such a stunning view.

Nothing short of AMAZING! The customer service was outstanding. The room was absolutely perfect with gorgeous views, comfortable bed and very clean and decorated nicely. Monterey is very quiet and doesn't have a ton to do like a San Francisco trip would have. Spindrift Inn is located on Cannery Row and on MacAbee Beach. The location is terrific-a short walk from anything you could possibly want to do or need. We enjoyed quiet shopping, eating, the beach and beautiful drives but the highlig... Read more

First the positives -Clean room -Good location Now the Reason for 2 stars... -No air conditioning - normally wouldn't be a problem because it's cool at night but since you have to open the windows you can hear absolutely everything going on down on the street. Highly recommend the Spindrift Inn. If you would like to stay right on Cannery Row but be able to enter your hotel and "get away" from it all, this is the place. The Spindrift is small, cozy, but totally full service. The oceanside rooms are lovely and private. Open the window and hear the wonderful waves! It has been around 45 years since I last spent any time in Monterey and the Spindrift made it feel fantastic. From the time I parked at the curb and the friendly greeting and service to sipping a tasty wine in the lobby after checking in to enjoying the view from my room and starting a real fire in the fireplace.. it was about as nice as it gets.... My wife and stayed here on our honeymoon in 2012 and the place was fantastic. We decided to stay here again the last week of March 2016 and what a disappointment. This hotel is really starting to show its age and the maintenance is substandard. The wooden flooring is badly scratched up. The marble tile on the fireplace hearth is cracked and broken. We really loved this place. A fabulous room and such friendly staff. We actually had numerous problems with our room keys over our 2 night stay. But we have to hand it to everybody on how keen they were to help us out. A real focus on looking after the customer. Just added to the feel of how friendly Cannery Row was. This hotel seems like it has soo much potential when you see the photos but unfortunately the lack of facilities and staff really let this hotel down. Rather tired establishment in the heart of Steinbeck's tacky Cannery Row with some odd practices - basic breakfast only served in rooms and free wine and cheese in lobby at 4.30pm for guests to "mingle and become acquainted with one another". **Review for an ocean-view king** Where to start?! From the moment the valet took our car, I could tell this was going to be a special experience. The staff was warm & so helpful. We were shown to an incredible room on the 3rd floor with a wrap around window seat, overlooking the ocean. We'd spent the day touring 'Hearst Castle' so my mind was filled with sumptuous surroundings and this room had a very similar feel to it. The hotel is more like a B&B. Just a short walk down the street to the aquarium and lots of restaurants nearby. Every afternoon they have wine and cheese in the lobby for the guests. Our room had a wood burning fireplace, excellent internet reception, a continental breakfast is served in your room every morning and is included, robes, etc. Very enjoyable.

One of the most beautiful places to stay in Monterey, both inside and out. During our three night stay, one was spent in the room enjoying the fireplace and the fabulous views of Monterey Bay. The continental breakfast delivered to the room at your choice of time is a perfect start to the day. Every evening a wine and cheese reception is held in the lobby. The staff is extremely helpful in suggesting restaurants and tips for getting around. I highly recommend the valet parking, $27.00 a day and ... Read more

Most reviews of Cannery Row mention the noise and tourist crowds. Maybe it was our mid-week September visit that changed our experience? Nevertheless, we loved the Spindrift Inn location and our room. Quaint hotel in a great location on the beach. Delivery breakfast service each morning is convenient, but does not offer a hot selection. In-room fireplaces are cozy for chilly mornings and evenings. The hotel doesn't have air conditioning, but the breeze off the water was perfect during our September visit. Great location for dining, shopping, and sightseeing. Really friendly folk but this wasn't the right place for us. Avoid the 2nd floor street facing rooms as these area above busy bars and have no air con so must be impossible to sleep in in summer. We managed it by cooling down the room before we went to bed. Also no privacy curtain or blind meant that for privacy from opposite buildings we had to shut the curtains which made the room very dark. Weird. Rooms was a bit small also. My husband and I visited the Spindrift earlier this year for his birthday and we loved it so much that we got to go back this past weekend for mine :-) Perhaps I don't care as much about small things like a crack in grout or wallpaper that needs to be replaced, as indicated in some previous reviews (to be honest, I do not go there for the wallpaper or expect more modern furniture) We were in Room 407, which I had requested when I made the reservation - corner room on the bay side and it was ...
