We found this hotel thru trip advisor and were extremely pleased. Great location near all the things going on and right on the water. The rooms are nice and cozy and the bed very comfy. Breakfast in bed is a plus! Nothing major but a great way to start the day. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They only have valet parking as parking around the hotel is hard to find.

I have been coming here for 20 years. Its a great location walking distance to restaurants and aquarium. You can see Sea life from your window all day long. Wonderful views! BUT I think its time for a remodel. The chimneys obviously need to be cleaned as the alarms in the rooms go off repeatedly. I have been coming to the spindrift for more than 20 years and not sure I would return until certain items were cleaned up (one of which the chimneys) The rooms are extremely smokey which gives ambiance... My Wife and I were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary and I surprised her with a little trip to Monterey. I asked a couple friends for recommendations for food, lodging and the like and Spindrift Inn was given emphatically. I totally agree. This place was a Perfect place to "Venture" from. The staff was beyond, the location was easy and beautiful and the Room/Amenities were more than I could've hoped for. If Monterey is in your mix, STAY HERE!!!

We stayed at The Spindrift for 2 nights!! Rooms are old and need updating, very small, do not stay on The Cannery Row side as the noise is horrible!!!! The breakfast that is delivered to your room is very basic, $27 per night to park your car! Much better hotels in the area to stay!

We stayed here for 4 days and we loved the location and the room is very quaint, staff is very friendly. We loved the fireplace in the room. Unfortunately we were on the 3rd floor facing street. I believe the rooftop garden was above us as it sounded like a herd of elephants at all hours of day and night. The noise from the street - delivery trucks, trash etc.. We were awoken super early (6am ) everyday. For the amount we paid..some windows that deflect noise would have been appreciated.

I can't say enough amazing things about this hotel. We are East Coasters and are seriously considering going back sooner than we ever imagined because our experience here was just perfect. The "happy hour" in the lobby was a wonderful way to unwind after our drive up the coast. The staff was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable about the area. The location is just perfect - we had the Bay View and I would absolutely recommend paying for it. Such a stunning view.

Had the best time, the room was fantastic, the staff was great. The view of Cannery Row and Mcabee Beach was perfect! Hell, I'm ready to go back, the bed and the weather were perfect. You can sleep well and wake up ready to go again. I think this will become a tearly visit!

Nothing short of AMAZING! The customer service was outstanding. The room was absolutely perfect with gorgeous views, comfortable bed and very clean and decorated nicely. Monterey is very quiet and doesn't have a ton to do like a San Francisco trip would have. Spindrift Inn is located on Cannery Row and on MacAbee Beach. The location is terrific-a short walk from anything you could possibly want to do or need. We enjoyed quiet shopping, eating, the beach and beautiful drives but the highlig... Read more

First the positives -Clean room -Good location Now the Reason for 2 stars... -No air conditioning - normally wouldn't be a problem because it's cool at night but since you have to open the windows you can hear absolutely everything going on down on the street. People were partying until 2:30 AM horns honking, club music thumping, and I even heard a fight between a guy and his girlfriend. Did not sleep until 3am when it finally got quieter. I asked the front desk for earplugs and the guy came u... Read more

Highly recommend the Spindrift Inn. If you would like to stay right on Cannery Row but be able to enter your hotel and "get away" from it all, this is the place. The Spindrift is small, cozy, but totally full service. The oceanside rooms are lovely and private. Open the window and hear the wonderful waves! Sit on the windowseats and watch the seagulls or maybe see some marine life sail by. (There are even complimentary binoculars provided!) Make a warm crackling fire in the fireplac... Read more

It has been around 45 years since I last spent any time in Monterey and the Spindrift made it feel fantastic. From the time I parked at the curb and the friendly greeting and service to sipping a tasty wine in the lobby after checking in to enjoying the view from my room and starting a real fire in the fireplace.. it was about as nice as it gets.... Superb location, great staff, a comfy room, yes, a great stay !

We've only arrived last night and have one night left, but the staff and room have been amazing! They have done nothing but cater to our needs since the moment our car pulled up outside. We have an ocean view room with a fire place and windows that open to let in a cool breeze. The wildlife we saw from our room this morning included whales, otters, and a multitude of birds. My wife and stayed here on our honeymoon in 2012 and the place was fantastic. We decided to stay here again the last week of March 2016 and what a disappointment. This hotel is really starting to show its age and the maintenance is substandard. The wooden flooring is badly scratched up. The marble tile on the fireplace hearth is cracked and broken. The rug had a large stain on it. The plaster on the right side of the fireplace was noticeably cracked and the wallpaper on the left side is bubbled ... Read more

We really loved this place. A fabulous room and such friendly staff. We actually had numerous problems with our room keys over our 2 night stay. But we have to hand it to everybody on how keen they were to help us out. A real focus on looking after the customer. Just added to the feel of how friendly Cannery Row was. Again we had free wine in the foyer and we enjoyed this opportunity to sample some of the local tipple.

The staff at the Spindrift was very helpful with suggestions of where to go, where to eat, etc. It is worth the extra money for the ocean view! The view from our room was AMAZING! We even saw dolphins swimming in the morning. The room is very romantic and beautiful. They bring breakfast to your room in the morning. We ate it on the window seat while we watched the ocean. This hotel seems like it has soo much potential when you see the photos but unfortunately the lack of facilities and staff really let this hotel down. While the rooms are beautiful and the setting is picturesque we found the experience to overall to be a bit of a let down given our expectations. Rather tired establishment in the heart of Steinbeck's tacky Cannery Row with some odd practices - basic breakfast only served in rooms and free wine and cheese in lobby at 4.30pm for guests to "mingle and become acquainted with one another". Needs an overhaul and injection of modernity to bring it up to international standards.

The Spindrift Inn is an upperclass accommodation. The rooms are old English! You get breakfast on the room! The people and mist of the staff are relaxed! The hotel is Direct at the sea! If I would marry my wife a second time, the Spindrift is one of my first choice! Ok! Why I give only 4 points? The reason are the two young girls at the checkin.
