From the style and cleanliness of the inn and the professional and friendly front desk. You are immediately impressed. Now wait until you get to your room, that is when your blown away by how perfect this inn is! They have everything you could possibly need even binoculars to view the Bay Area and spot some marine life. Complimentary breakfast is brought to your doorstep to enjoy your morning. We stayed two nights on an anniversary trip. First, let me say how sweet the staff was to leave a signed card, bottle of wine and small chocolates for our anniversary! Very nice touch. We had a balcony room with a pretty view of the harbor. We loved hearing the crashing waves while in the room. The room was very well appointed and very clean. The bathroom was beautiful. We enjoyed the free breakfast being delivered to the room each morning. The front desk was extremely polite, professional... Read more

Booked this hotel for my boyfriend's 30th birthday. I wanted something on Cannery Row, close to the aquarium. There are a couple nice, more "expensive" hotels on the row that I thought about booking, but ultimately went with the Monterey Bay Inn, for the views. We stayed in a harbor view room (room 407 to be exact). The front desk staff was very polite and friendly upon checking in. I advised the hotel that I had booked the hotel for my boyfriends birthday, and they had a complimentary bottle of... Read more

My husband and I stayed here one night over a 5 day stay in the central coast area. It was by far my favorite place! We were celebrating my 40th birthday. The signed card and bottle of wine were truly a special touch that was most appreciated. I also loved the Aveda products in the bathroom. Our room overlooked the beautiful bay where we could hear waves crashing and sea lions barking. We also enjoyed the ocean view hot tub on the 4th floor which was clean and in good working order. Lovely view over the harbor from our 4th floor room. The hotel looks cookie cutter from outside, but the views, the personel and the location make it a lovely place to stay. Freshly baked cookies await you in the lobby, a more than satisfactory breakfast is brought to your room, the staff is not only polite and friendly, but goes out of its way to look after its guests. Special thanks to Merle and Christie and to the front desk attendant who helped me fix my computer connection problems.

Our stay was'nt the best, due to the handling of a complaint by the front desk. There was a family underneath us that complained of stomping coming from our room. The walls and floors are paper thin, you can hear neighbors carry conversations as if they were sitting your room. Just walking around caused such a rukus and ruin our stay at this Inn. Once we left to begin our vist to the Aquarium everthing was great, Monterey has been a family favorite since our 19 year old was 8 years old. After ou... Read more

WHY DID WE SELECT MBI: We have stayed here twice in the last year, in March 2015 and April 2016. The room is quiet (at the very end of the hall), calm and peaceful. We didn't turn the TV on for our entire stay. We don't come to Monterey for the activities, but for the peace and absolute tranquility of hearing the lap of waves, sea lions, cormorants and seagulls. The hotel is the last (or the first) one on the quiet end of the Row. ESPECIALLY HELPFUL STAFF: Martin, facilities janitor/supervisor... Read more

Booked this kind of last minute for our memorial weekend with the kids. I always make sure there is a pool because that is what makes the kids happy. I went through trips advisors and put in that we needed a pool and so I picked this one. The morning before we head out my husband tells me he doesn't think the hotel I booked has a pool - so I called and he was right. The gentleman that answered the phone (Erwin) told me that they have two hot tubs but no pool and he doesn't know why trip advisors... Read more

What a lovely place. We were in room 408 with a bay view, luckily unlike some of the other bayview rooms our view was mostly of the bay. Breakfast was nice, the staff were amazing. We had no complaints. Ask for a fourth floor room they are the best and know that if you want a true view of the ocean you have to get an ocean view room. The bayview was perfect for us. Also this place is perfect in terms of location. Halfway between both Cannery Row and the wharfs.

First time here. Picked this hotel due to proximity to the pier for whale watching and Cannery Row. Beautiful hotel. great view from our Bay View room. Nice touch to have breakfast delivered to your room. Picked out what you want the night before and it shows up at your door when you want it. Has a very nice roof top hot tub that over looks Monterey Bay and one on the 2nd floor too. Fresh baked cookies and lemonade in the lobby. Clean balcony considering there's a lot of flying birds/pigeons who wants to join you with the room service breakfast . There's a complimentary telescope! Bed was comfortable and a clean room was all i ever wanted, especially for the price to pay. FYI: Nightly parking has a fee.

It's not a big hotel so it's easy to check in and out and plenty of parking. Location is between the aquarium and fisherman's wharf but i wouldn't walk to any of them unless i am super fit and feel like a nice jog. Driving takes about 5 mins to each. I do recommend parking there and taking the free trolley to the many places around there because they charge for parking at the aquarium and at fisherman's wharf plus it can be hard to find parking or it might be far. We booked this for a romantic weekend and it was perfect. The rooms have the best/most panoramic views on the bay as we watched, boaters, kayakers, birds and otters play just a few yards from our ocean view room. The property is in great condition and has good "bones" but still has the feeling of 60's construction which isn't a bad thing, but a stark contrast to her snootier neighbors. Our stay at Monterey Bay Inn was just lovely! The location & views were fantastic, front desk so friendly & helpful, nice decor & awesome afternoon cookies in the lobby & breakfast delivered to the room in the am. The Monterey Bay Inn is on San Carlos Beach, about halfway between the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Old Fisherman's Wharf. Because it is away from the Aquarium and at the other end of Cannery Row, it is a very quiet location. The rooms are very clean and the views are amazing. We stayed in room 309 which looks out at San Carlos Beach, the Wharf, and of course, the bay itself. In addition to all the expected amenities, the room also had a pair of binoculars - which certainly came in handy.

Great place to stay. A tiny dated, but the view and the hospitality is worth it. I wouldn't say it's the cleanest. And there are parts of it that feel rundown and you expect more. But if all you want to do is relax in front of the beautiful bay, get your breakfast served to you in your room and have your covers turned down at night, this is the place. No big pool.
