Stayed at the Abrego, the reception staff were very friendly and the accommodation very clean and well decorated. However we were on the first floor diagonally opposite reception and the noise was a pain. The trucks started before 6am, the garbage collection at 6 then more noise after that. Monterey is very nice and the hotel would have been if not for the noise- just make sure you are not in a room near the back of the hotel.

A nice, very well kept hotel. The rooms are very clean and the facilities are very neat. Everything looks brand new and the staff are extremely helpful. It's situated just a short distance from the bay, aquarium and restaurants. Recommended hotel!

The room is spacious, the bed comfortable, plenty of parking. The gym is small, didn't use the restaurant. There is no complimentary breakfast, the menu in the room doesn't show prices of the restaurant. Next to our room was an ice machine, this gave some noise. The laundry facillity consisted of 1 washer, 1 dryer. The biggest letdown was an emergency water stop, which we were told about through a notice on the door, without any information about how long it would last. As we learned about it on... Read more

what a lovely hotel , I had emailed the hotel prior explain that this trip was planned for my husbands birthday and we were given a lovely room with a bottle of wine and chocolates which was such a lovely surprise. The room itself was really cosy and looked out over the pool area which we used for an hour in the afternoon sadly it was taken over by a quite noisy group so we didn't stay long but not the hotels fault. The parking at the hotel is brilliant and the reception staff were very helpful ... Read more

This hotel surpassed expectations. We had a king deluxe room, which was quite lovely, had a fireplace, a Keurig coffeemaker, free wifi as well as charge cords for various devices, free parking, a comfortable bed, and was in a great location.

Stayed for one night as part of a bigger trip. The rooms are well presented and comfortable. So much so, we took photos for design tips for our house! The reception staff we really helpful and only to keen to assist in any queries. It's a ten minute walk to fisherman wharf and has ample parking. I would definitely use it again.

Extremely new and clean rooms with larger than typical square footage. After searching around Monterey I found the food and service at the hotel were among the best. The only significant shortfalls were somewhat poor sound insulation between floors and (as far as I could tell) no ventilation system other than opening the window and turning on a small portable fan. Fortunately the weather was nice and cool so ventilation was not critical.

What a surprising find so close to downtown Monterey. Beautiful inside and out. Quiet, spacious rooms. I loved the fireplace in my own room! Plenty of parking. Easy to walk to Fisherman's Wharf. Hotel staff were exceptional. Every recommendation for walking, eating, sightseeing was perfect.

We stayed at the Abrego just for one night. Motivated by nice pictures on booking.com we were expecting a nice ambience far away from standard hotel chains. The room was big but dark. Unfortunately we had to carry our heavy luggage over several stairways, no elevator available. Unfortunately I forgot the name but there is a great restaurant nearby, straight ahead across the street. We were sitting in a nice garden enjoying our dinner.

We stayed 3 nights and the hotel was everything you could hope when traveling with kids. The room had 2 queen beds, a fireplace. It was very quiet, no noise coming from the room next door or the street. It has a pool and a workout room. It is very close to downtown. We had breakfast one morning and the menu was simple, fair priced and very good.

We recently spent two days at the Pebble Beach Lodge and decided to spend a couple more days in Monterey. We found the Hotel Abrego on line. We were expecting a letdown after the previous two days. Both my wife and I were extremely pleased with the position of the hotel a short walk to Fishermans wharf and all the amenities and also for the shuttle to Cannery Row and our room in the main building was not only spacious but had a super walk in shower. The hotel staff were exceptionally helpful and courteous and we were pleasantly surprised by the price and quality of the food particularly the breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Monterrey area.

A typical American Hotel/motel where you park your car by the door. Clean and spacious rooms. A bit dark and not that cosy, and a bit noice from the parkinglot. Nice location just 5 minutes from the main street with shops and restaurants. Free parking is a plus!

We were only in Monterey for one night but would happily have stayed longer. We were very happy with the hotel and with the room, which was clean and comfortable. The situation is ideal and we were able to buy aquarium tickets at which saved us a lot of time and bother. The staff were really nice and the food was excellent and very well priced. I was quite surprised by the roaring fire plus air con in the bar though! I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Monterey

Only stayed a couple of nights, however, the staff seemed a little indifferent and with hindsight I would have spent a little more and stayed in Carmel. Whilst the room was 'ok', it was booked through Trailfinders as 'run of the house' accommodation, which basically means they can put you where they want. The weather had been quite warm and we found that our room was at the back of the hotel. When we asked how to work the AC we were presented with a fan! To cool the room we opened the door and j... The location is perfect, well away from the carnival-like atmosphere of Cannery Row, yet accessible for those willing to walk to those attractions. Lovely hotel in a great location, staff were all great, couldn't do enough to make our stay better than it was. Room was lovely and clean with a lovely king sized bed and pillows to die for, not really much of a view but then we weren't in the room long enough to care. The Abrego is close enough that you can walk into town/wharf, which was a plus for us. The room was in the main building, which had air con. The other buildings may not have this. Not a bad place but no air conditioning made it miserable on a July evening. Front desk said just open window but then had to keep blinds open which meant no privacy and it was quite loud as cars pulled into lot. Ridiculous for the money we spent on this place. Who would have thought to ask if they had AC?

Stopped off for one night on a several day trip down the west coast from San Fran to LA and, from what we saw, a lot of people were doing the same. Hotel was nice - rooms were a good size, well apportioned, nicely decorated and clean. Would recommend for a one night stop. Frustratingly, the room only had coffee for one in the morning and, despite calling room service / front desk and asking for a second, we never received this, despite a 40 minute wait.

I have just stayed there. It was quite hot and for a hotel like this to have no air-condition is a surprise. This hotel has the windows by the hallway/corridor and are outside. People can just walk by your room and look in. If you have the window open to try and let some air in and you have just gone to the pool or are asleep, then someone can just climb through the window in to your room. When people walk by, or kids are running, this also wakes you up. It is just unnerving and didn't feel secu... Read more

We stayed four nights over the four of July 2016 in room 3207 (main floor). It's pretty quite. It's a nice room. The hotel was very clean. Parking was good. Service was great. Loved the soft bed. Our room was nice but I would say it's a little overpriced (there are a lot of hotels very close by). That's about the only complaint I would have. Hotel Abrego is a very nice property. Our family of four stayed for the three nights to visit the Monterey/Pacific Grover area. It seems as though the area in general has worked hard to avoid the commercialization and over-development that take over many beach towns in America. As such, most of the properties have a more classic vibe. This is true of Hotel Abrego. We were surprised that our room did not have air conditioning, but from a climate standpoint, it was not necessary. We left the windo... Read more
