The rooms were clean. Bar was only open from 5-9, so not much of a bar at all. Same for their restaurant for dinner. They charge you $15 to park in their own private lot...which is s joke. Why not just add it to the cost of an overpriced room to begin with?

The Hilton in Monterey was what you would expect from a Hilton. I had a pleasant experience. The staff was good, the rooms were clean, check in and out was easy, and parking was easy (but I don't think they should charge extra). I'm getting tired of airlines and hotels nickel and dining me to death. Although we were only there for a very short time (less than 12 hours), the Hilton was just fine.

We had a great time and the hotel staff were very friendly. We most definitely will be back. I will recommend this hotel to anyone. Very clean. Loved that there was a exercise room and a heated pool. The hotel was also in a great location we were able to access our destination easily, and close to everything.

The rooms in the hotel are just what you would expect from Garden Inns except that most also have balconies . The nice thing about this hotel is the excellent Grille on the property. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served here. We were very happy with our accomodations and were happy that it was such an easy drive to the 17 Mile Drive through Pebble Beach and to Carmel and Cannery Row. The only drawback is that there is a $15 charge per night to park.

We visited this hotel for 2 nights. The receptionist was excellent and check in was hassle free. The parking was 15 dollars per night which was ok. The restaurant is separate from the hotel but within the same complex. Food is reasonably priced and very good we had dinner and breakfast. Breakfast is buffet style for 15 dollars each and was great value. The only downside is that the restaurant closed at 9pm as does the bar in the hotel however it might have been early in the season. This is one ugliest hotels I've been to in my life for the price. And there are screaming children even late at night in the pool that you hear from your bed. And then you hear the neighbors talking in their room all day. The layout makes you feel like you are in what I imagine a jail cell feels like. The side with the screaming children has a big window that makes you feel like they're peering in on you even though you have the curtains drawn. Everything is dark brown. My wife and I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Monterey for four nights in late June. The hotel is a nice property. Our room (132) was generally quiet; however, we could hear some late-arriving guests (our best guess) directly above us after midnight one night. The floors creaked and groaned loudly. I was even wearing my heavy-duty "industrial strength" earplugs and I was still awakened by them! We had a small fridge and microwave. The bathroom had a very large area around the sink and unde... Stayed here for two nights with 4 cousins, called the hotel two, days prior to arriving to find out about getting adjoining rooms, they went ahead and assigned us those rooms. Brief issue with no water, which was probably beyond their control. Room had Keurig coffee maker but we didn't use it, as there was free Starbucks coffee in the lobby in the morning. Room decor was clean and modern. It was a good stay. If only they offered a free breakfast...would be even better.

The hotel locates right next to the high way, but as long as you don't stay in a room facing the high way, you will get your peace. Despite the reservation page on the official website telling you that you could pay to upgrade your room to the "popularly requested 1st floor", there is no way the 1st floor can be better than the 3rd floor. I was really pleased with the HGI, our room was quiet, very clean, a little tight with 3 people and 3 suitcases but still comfortable. We enjoyed an afternoon around the really nice pool. Well maintained older property with VERY friendly staff. It's a standard Hilton Garden Inn. Monterey is prime tourist country and the hotels reflect this both in price and a fairly detached approach. This place is no exception, but is works well enough. Rooms are a decent size and the location convenient (although you will have to drive if you want to go to the restaurant area) It's best to get a room rate which includes breakfast, as you won't find it convenient to eat out One negative : they have introduced a parking charge -I think it was $10 a night- since the last time I was th... Stayed here with the family and it wasn't bad for the price. The rooms are clean but it is a little tricky to figure out where to park on your first day. Positives: We had a nice time at this hotel. Very clean and friendly staff. Negatives: Parking price is $15 which is a bit ridiculous.
