To rate this place under 4 stars you had better be on your high horse. New beds, drapes, carpet, 42" tv... sausage and eggs. Stellar check-in service, and the most meticulously maintained grounds of any hotel in this segment. Our room was near the road, but had minimal noise. For what you pay for, you certainly get more than you would and a lesser managed property. Clearly outshines the neighboring properties - I had a chance to tour them as I walked my dog, oh yeah, and this place is pet friend... Read more

Great location just off the freeway, although my GPS had me driving through a residential neighborhood to get there. My room was nice, bed was comfortable, everything in order. The rooms are a bit small by today's standards, but this is Monterey and most of the properties are the older style like this. It clearly has been fully refurbished and updated, and since I usually travel alone it was not an issue. If I was with family I would definitely want something a bit larger. All in all it was... This small hotel was a great choice. Easy to get off and on to CA-1 north in the AM. Beautiful flowers and sculptured trees greet you. Staff was very welcoming, room was updated and very clean, bed was very comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

While the rooms and grounds were clean enough, it seems a bit dated. Staff very friendly and helpful. We didn't get up in time for the breakfast so can't say anything about that. Internet was fast. Pet friendly but no 'facilities' for puppies. Have to take the pets out by the very busy street with narrow sidewalks. The hotel also sits between two busy streets and is close to the airport. Airport is small so the plane noise wasn't that bad.

Value for money. Decent place, breakfast. The only thing is the sound proof is poor. We stayed at level 1 and the family above us have kids that are forever jumping. Even when they are walking we can also hear it. Other than this, overall good stay.

This location works well for a night or two, especially if you need to access the airport or fairgrounds. But those locations can cause quite a bit of audible disruption, which you may have mask with the air conditioner. It's definitely not a destination location, or a motel that invites lingering throughout the day. But then, why go to Monterey just to sit in a hotel room? We came up Highway 401B from the south, which easily dropped us onto Fremont Street right in front of the motel, but I'... Read more

This Hotel is conveniently located on Fremont St just off CA1. Our room was clean and comfortable and quiet, everything well mantained and in good condition. Nice landscaping and well maintained property as well. Welocmimg staff. The breakfast was good, featuring hot items. All in all a good stay.

This hotel is centrally located in Monterey and convenient to Carmel and surrounding areas. The staff was very courteous and helpful and our room was clean and comfortable. The only negative aspect was that the breakfast room was small and could have been cleaner.

I actually went on Memorial Day weekend. It was just for a night. However, it was a pleasant stay. Good thing we checked in before evening came because the small parking lot filled up pretty quick. Then you would have to park on the street. The room was clean and so was the bathroom, thankfully. Lol The staff was nice in the lobby as in greeting me with a friendly smile. He also thoroughly explained everything to me without huffing and puffing. I felt very welcomed. I actually was allowed to sit... Read more

You can see that they have made current renovations. The bed was comfortable, room was very clean. My husband had a business meeting the first morning we were there, so I stayed in the room, there is very limited tv channels and two didn't have any voice, but considering where you are, you normally wouldn't spend too much time in, and other than that morning we didn't. The breakfast was good and there was always plenty and kept fresh. We initially had a problem with the wi-fi, but when we br... Read more

The good: The place is cute - there are hanging flower baskets all over. Sort of a 50s motel vibe. Rooms are perfectly decent. The staff are all very friendly. There is a good Italian restaurant across the street. Quick drive to the wharf. The bad: The location is terrible. Both sides are busy roads, and the back is up against the fair grounds (although the concert going on was not bad). It is on the direct decent flight path for the airport - so it is very, very loud. The hot tub situation was ... Read more

My husband and I stayed here for a few nights while visiting Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur area. We found the hotel very comfortable/cozy for the entire duration of our stay. The rooms are small, but the beds are comfortable, the showers have good water pressure, and the rooms felt clean, overall. The rooms are not spotless; There were a few spots on the carpet, walls. However, I never felt as though the rooms were unclean. If you are looking for a comfortable, budget motel, then this hotel will do ... Read more

I just spent 10 days and traveled 1,700 miles on the road in California... Every hotel I reserved and checked into promised a "roll in shower"... Comfort Inn Monterey Bay was the only one that delivered... All the others promised, but their showers, although listed as "Handicapped"... were "walk-ins" not "roll ins"... I am a paraplegic in a wheel chair... and the difference is between night and day. The bathroom was large enough to roller skate in! The breakfast was a buffet... many choices of... Read more

Hotel was old and definitely needed a refresh. Room was very small and neighborhood sort of sketchy. There was a homeless person out front when I went to walk my dog who startled me. Folks at the front desk were very nice both at check in and check out, Continental breakfast was nothing to write home about. In closing the price seemed somewhat high for the neighborhood.

The room is big enough, with parking outside all rooms. You might ending up parking away from your room, but that doesn't matter as all rooms are close. Upon check-in you receive a complimentary popcorn. The room comes with coffee, micro, fridge and tv. The low score is because of the woman at front desk was in a bad mood - we didn't feel welcome at all. Breakfast nothing impressive. We didn't try the bathtub.

If all you need during your stay in the Monterey area are free parking, free breakfast, a short drive to downtown Monterey and the aquarium, then this motel is for you. Added bonuses to consider: a couple minutes' drive to California 1 and Big Sur.

Just had one night here on a road trip. The room and was perfectly adequate as was the breakfast. The reception staff were so welcoming which was needed after a long journey. We didn't use the hot tub but it looked OK. As somewhere for one or two nights it's ideal.

My bff and I needed a getaway and I chose this spot, honestly, for the price. I knew we'd be out all day sightseeing so a comfortable basic place was all we needed. We also needed a pet friendly room. Comfort Inn more than met those expectations. Comfortable beds, strong showers and the nicest housekeeping staff. They were very concerned that we were all happy, even my dog. The breakfast staff was also friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back, and so would Tavish, the Dandie Dinmont Terr... Read more
