We stayed 3 nights on a whale watching trip. Good location with breakfast included, the breakfast was nice cereal, bagels, yogurt fresh orange and tea/coffee. Very friendly staff.Only a 5 minute walk to the bay area. If you have the time turn left at the wharf and walk the coastal path, we did 10 miles through and past the Aquarium a lovely walk.

The location of this hotel is perfect for Monterey. Very walkable to eats and shopping of downtown. The hotel is kinda old but very clean and serves a pretty good continental breakfast. The first two nights were very quite but then the third night we got some very rude...late night neighbors.

I stayed with my family in Colton Inn when traveling from LA to Bay area. I wish I would been able to stay longer. This is a really nice motel in walking distance from Monterey downtown and Fishermans Wharf. Rooms were very clean and the staff was very helpful to find a good restaurant etc. Also the breakfast was really nice with fresh fruits and bagels. Extra points for a really good coffee. Will come back for sure!

Has everything that you need for a short stay in Monterey. We were travelling with our toddler the room had good facilities fridge for storing milk etc. Really comfy beds, clean and well kept. Good selection at the continental breakfast which is included in the price. Wifi, Free parking and only 10-15 minute walk to Fishermans Wharf, 5 minutes to the many restaurants and shops. All in all a great stay with nothing to fault. Would stay here again.

Enjoyed a two day stay at this hotel, while visiting the Monterey area. Arrived early, but staff told me to park our car and feel free to explore the area until our room was ready. Short, safe and enjoyable walk to the Wharf and Cannery Row. Room was quiet and nice. Real fireplace with firelog. Reefer, microwave, coffee maker. Staff was very helpful in suggesting places to see and restaurants in the area. Trader Joe"s was just a couple of blocks away for in room snacks and libations. Bre... Read more

What a lovely warm welcome from the owner, she is a great host. Room was excellent. The only negative was the man serving breakfast. He was extremely rude. The breakfast was not adequate and left all our party feeling hungry.

We stopped here for 2 nights as part of a trip around California and really wished our stay had been longer. The rooms were very homely and comfortable with a great king size bed. The hotel is located within a quiet part of sleepy Monterey, so we had a great night sleep both nights. The breakfast was a nice little surprise, various bagels, fruit, cereals and pastries available, with tea/coffee and fruit juice. This was enjoyed out on the terrace just off reception. The staff were all friendly an... Read more

We stopped here for a night, great little inn for this purpose. I indicated at the time of my booking that we would need an extra bed, and it was already there and prepared in our room. Very helpful and friendly staff answered all our questions with a smile. DonĀ“t expect anything special for breakfast, it is really simple and there is no space to sit, you have to take it back to your room. There is a grocery store and a few eateries just a few minutes walk away.

The staff at front desk were so helpful. The first room we checked into smelled of smoke, but we were instantly put in a new room, no questions asked. The new room was very nice, clean and spacious. The breakfast was a let down. No seating area inside, prepacked bagels and everything was in the small office by the reception. It got very crowded if more than two people were getting food at once.

I actually liked this place, but the rest of my family did not, which I why I give it three stars. Let's start with the positives - the Colton Inn is in a great location, on a quiet street just a couple blocks from downtown. If you want to walk to a restaurant or to Fisherman's Wharf, it's easily doable, and if you want to go to the madness of Cannery Row (except for the Aquarium, I wouldn't bother) you can hop a free trolley just a couple blocks away. The room was very spacious, clean, and c... Read more

Located just across the fire station this is a nice place. When enter to the front desk we were welcomed with coffee biscuits and fruit. The room we got was big and clean, big screen, refrigerator, desk and coffee maker. there was no safe. The hotel is 10-15 minutes walk (very pleasant area) to the fisherman's wharf. Breakfast is served at the front desk area with a variety of continental items like cereal bagels fruit etc - very nice.

I stayed the night here after purchasing through Hotwire for $145 a night and let me tell you, it is not even worth half of that! We walked in to hair in the bath tub, stains on our sheets and ants crawling around in the bathroom. It smelled like chlorine when you walked in. Super disappointed with this booking. I went to check in after ordering a king and they had me in a room with two queens. I got that changed but still not happy with this. Don't waste your time! Also, elevator does not work ... Read more

Overall, I think this was a great little find. A typical motel, but a cut above most. Set in a nice quiet location about 10 mins. walk from Fisherman's Wharf, and a couple of blocks from the trolley that goes to the Aquarium. The room was spacious and quiet, with 2 comfy queen size beds. We were worried that being next door to reception and next to the patio area would be a problem, but it wasn't. There is no air-con, but even in the summer you don't really need it in Monterey. Staff were frie... Read more

Having stayed in top end hotels in NYC and San Francisco, we were very pleased with what the Ramada offers for the price. As a family trying to save some money whilst on a long holiday in the USA, having a fridge, microwave, free wifi and free breakfast makes a massive difference! Breakfast is cereal, fruit, yoghurt, pastries, toast and tea/coffee/hot chocolate which is fine when it is free! Yes, the lobby area is small to get breakfast but the deck area is nice to eat or you can take your break... Read more

Upon arrival there wasn't anyone at the front desk. I stood around for a few minutes before someone came only to rudely say that I will need to wait 25-min until 3pm to check in because room inspections were being done. Left and came back after 3pm, and this time I still had to wait for someone to show up at the front desk to check in. The room decor, furniture and bedding is very much out-dated. The room and bathroom are in need of minor repairs; the bathtub filled with water when showering, ... Read more

A lovely hotel close to the main pier/town (about 10 minute walk). Room was very clean and even though we had booked a family room expecting 2 double/queen beds this had a futon that was made up so our sons didn't have to share a bed. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We couldn't seem to get the air con working but as it was not too warm and there was a ceiling fan we didn't actually mention it. There are basically two types of hotels - The hotel itself is a part of your trip (such as resort) or the hotel is just a place to take a rest (sleeping, taking shower etc ...). The Colton Inn is obviously NOT a fancy or luxurious hotel that you need to pay a few hundred dollars per night - You can find many of those in Monterey. However, if you want to explore Monterey and Big Sur area and need a safe, comfortable, and clean hotel room. This hotel would work for you! The room may not be per... Read more

Good location and room was fine. We had an issue with our rental car failing to start on the morning of our departure which resulted in a 5 hour delay in leaving. To cut a long story short, the lady on reception reluctantly let me use their phone to call for assistance as I was having issues with my mobile but would not allow us to use the toilets. She advised the rooms were being cleaned and we would have to go to the public library. After paying in excess of $700 for 2 rooms for 2 nights very ... Read more

Later on I receive a call saying there was a glitch in the system... Then I call again and admit that one of their employees double charged us. Ellen the manager was always busy and never there. Very charming hotel, Ellen, the general manager was very friendly and helpful. They set out a very nice continental breakfast and tea and coffee and fruit and cookies were available all day. Just a little extra something. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. We loved the location, were able to walk to dinner and to Fisherman's Wharf. We would definitely stay here again.

Just spent a couple of nights here - we had a room with 2 queen beds which was huge. Very friendly and helpful staff - good breakfast and cookies/tea/coffee available during the day. You could eat outside for breakfast which was fine, the lobby area where the breakfast was served is very small - a little difficult to juggle a tray etc! Great location - very near restaurants and about 15 min walk to the pier.

The Colton Inn is under 2 miles from Cannery Row and closer to the Warf in Monterey. A quaint very well kept Inn, friendly staff and perfect Continental breakfast with baked goods from the local baker. About 1/3 less than Cannery Row hotels... We'll be back. Thanks

We stayed here to attend a friend's wedding. The bed was hard making it difficult to sleep. There was a ceiling fan in the room but instead of being over the bed where it was needed, it was over a table in the corner of the room. We were only given 1 coffee cup. We needed help with the tv and called the front desk 4 times and never received a response. We went down to the lobby and the desk clerk who was in the back room came out with eyes glazed over. A fabulous hotel, lovely quiet location, short walk to shops, bars and restaurants. Breakfast is really good, both in choice and quality. This is A small hotel in a good location in Monterey. The rooms are adequate and come with a small refrigerator and microwave. Along with the room that hotel provides a continental breakfast that you pick up at the office and take back to your room with a tray. For Monterey this is good value and the convenient location. I would recommend this hotel

The hotel was conveniently located. The staff was courteous and the rooms, although not "delux" were comfortable and clean. The breakfast of yogurt, pastries, fruit, cereals and beverages was more than adequate. Ask for the 2nd or 3rd floor away from the the parking lot. We actually were able to see little raccoons in the trees near our balcony. Cute. For the price the Colton Inn was great. I'd stay there again.

We chose this hotel for our three night stay in Monterey during our trip around California as we were looking for something more reasonable after paying high prices in San Francisco and Yosemite. This was our first time staying here and we weren't disappointed at all. Great location, very easy to get to/from, staff was absolutely wonderful, and the continental breakfast has very good selections which helps get the day off right. The Colton Inn is a very good place to stay in Monterey. Location is good (walking distance to sea, harbour, pier and aquarium) and the price is quite good given that it is in California. The rooms are very nice and well equipped with fridge, coffee maker etc. The outside area (stairs, corridors) are a bit bleak and soulless.
