Like other reviewers, we had a poor start here - not the room we requested and unable to change the room in the first night due to the hotel being sold out. However, the room was changed (and fine) the following day. Positives: the location is good, the dining room is well equipped for breakfast and the staff in it is very attentive and friendly. The coffee is great and the fresh fruit is in great condition. The room size is ample and the room is well equipped. Beds and linens are great. The e... Read more

We rented the Sacramento room for a family gathering to celebrate the passing of my mother-in-law. And the Double Tree catered our gathering with really delicious food, the best potato salad I have ever eaten. The room and staff could not have been better. When we arrived three staff in uniforms were setting up the room, tables and food in preparation for our event. They came over with introductions all around, polite, profession and big smiles. Overall the stay was ok. The room never cooled off and the chocolate covered strawberries that I paid extra for were a disaster but the room itself was very clean as was the bedding. The housekeeping staff was wonderful and very friendly. This was my third year staying here and the cooling of the room is an issue every time.

The DoubleTree in Modesto is a great place stay. The employees are the best. I always feel like I am at home and always look forward to returning. It is a very, very nice hotel. One can take advantage of the fitness center, the swimming pool, the jacuzzi, etc. A hot chocolate cookie at the check-in, the room is very nice, too. I would say to take it only if you are going to spend the day in the hotel; one, because there is not that much to do in Modesto (at least we didn't find that much), second, because the city is not well known for safeness.

Nice hotel, great staff, I should really give it less stars but the pool is incredible if you are a lap swimmer. The Internet is HORRIBLE! Better off tethering off your phone. I treated it as a vacation away from digital connectivity, otherwise I would have thrown my computer out the window. (Night staff was not as nice as the day). Water leak in the hotel was handled well. Hardly noticed that the first floor was flooded by a leak on the second. Once again, the staff was the main reason I rated ... Read more

Hotel was very easy to find since it was the only tall building in Modesto! It was within walking distance of several local restaurants, but downtown really shuts down after 9-10pm. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff - but not overly so. Any request is acted upon right away. I loved the swimming pool. It isn't very deep and perfect for lap swimming. The warm cookie at check-in is a nice touch and the quality of the cookie was excellent. The temperature throughout the hotel is a little too cold; bring a sweater. The bar wait staff is friendly and provides quick service and the drinks were mixed perfectly.

Love this hotel. It is elegant, well staffed, and located right on the edge of downtown Modesto. The smaller movie theater is right across the street. Indeed, the rooms come with earplugs, and I needed them. Not for the train, as I never heard the train; but for the couple next door, as they were very much in love. We were upgraded to a suite, so our room was spacious but very dated. The room desperately needed a deep cleaning, with the vents filled up with dirt/dust and dirty popcorn ceilings. The wallpaper, furniture and decor were terribly outdated. Traveling the country and being a loyal Hilton Honors member we're always surprised to see these sorts of oversights at Hilton properties with the numerous competing loyalty programs. Nice hotel, friendly staff. However the parking arrangement is not good as it is across the street and depending upon where you park, you may have to take two elevators and walk across an overpass to get to the hotel. There is also a fee for this parking.

Good hotel. Some train noise during the night & the bathroom sink smelled of mold but the staff was wonderful & bed very comfortable. Best hotel in the area, so of the options, you likely won't get much better.

This was an overnight stop on the way to San Francisco. The hotel accommodation is OK and the Restaurant food acceptable but the noise from trains from the adjacent station goes on all night. Ear plugs are provided but these are no good if you need to hear a fire alarm signal. A room safe would have been welcome as there is a security warning attached to the Room Information brochure.

Modesto is a mixed bag. Not a tourist attraction. Perhaps due to the bus/rail station down the street there are a lot of homeless people wandering around this neighborhood. So, if you're looking for walkability nearby forget it. Best to just get in your car, go where you need to, and get back to the hotel.

Room was absolutely amazing, Very clean and all the accommodation's. Valet parking was easy, right at the front door. Staff was very friendly and is willing to help you in anyway. They give warm cookie upon check in. Easy to get a late check out without being charged. I loved this hotel.

Well kept up rooms, friendly staff and the breakfast in the restaurant was good for under $15. It is near the center of the Modesto business district making it convenient for business travelers. The one drawback is they are about 2 blocks from a major north south Union Pacific line. Be sure you get an even numbered room that faces downtown instead of the parking garage. Right behind the parking garage is the railroad line. Me I like trains and can sleep through the noise but if you are a ligh... Read more

This hotel is a solid choice for business or pleasure in Modesto. Easy to get to, has all the amenities in one place, clean, good service. Just be sure to use those free earplugs when the trains start rolling through.

hadn't stayed in a doubletree in a long time but this hotel was a nice property - nice atrium and rooms were clean and comfortable. Work out room was also nice. The only downside was you don't get many Hilton Honors points for staying at this property. I paid about $200 for my room (before taxes) and all I got was 140 base points for staying - what a rip. Won't be staying at a doubletree again.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful this hotel is. We have stayed at other area hotels (long ago) and vowed we would not endure the experience even to save a few bucks. We have been so happy at the hotel and always feel like a special guest. I am sure the staff makes everyone feel that way, but when you are greeted well and with such kind faces, you cannot help but feel that it is because they know you and that feels good! I love being a "regular" at the hotel. The perks of warm welc... Read more

Hands down the most accommodating staff ever!!!... Jesse at the front desk was ever so gracious. I loved the fact there were managers in the lobby greeting guests and interacting with people in the lobby. Angela Delores Ernesto and Renata with the banquet staff were top notch and should be recognized. This hotel is a hidden gem in the central valley... I recommend this hotel to anyone that is in the area. Thank you all for an amazing weekend I certainly will be back.

The Doubletree is pretty nice. We have an accessible room which means there is a door adjoining our room and the next. The noise factor is present even when the neighbors are talking in normal voices we can hear every word. We didn't complain yet because it hasn't been tat intrusive. The hotels restaurant is ok but they have made a couple of errors when packing my to go food. That happens everywhere.

My overall experience was positive. There were a couple of things; however, that did not meet my expectations. I asked for a container of deodorant from the front desk. They said they didn't have any there, but would deliver to my room. That never happened and when I went to the front desk to ask about it, they opened a drawer and gave me one. The temperature in the room was really warm. I turned the thermostat to 66 degrees and the fan came on, but only for a few minutes and then turned ... Read more

Stayed here for two nights in late October. First night the train woke me up two times. Second night I did not hear it. I had a room on 9th floor and was an even numbered room. I believe even numbered rooms hear less of the train noise as I had some other colleagues stay at the same time as i and they had odd numbered rooms and heard the train each night. Enjoyed the breakfast buffett, lots of variety. Good wait staff. I really enjoyed the bar in the hotel. Had some good draft beers on tap which... Read more

Positives: Room comfortable, clean, good bed, mini-fridge. Fast elevators. Parking structure with walkway just across street, $12 per day, was free for our conference but maybe not for everyone. Negatives: 1. earplugs in room should have been a clue. Trains run all night very close, loud whistles. I was on 10th floor. Friend on 2nd didn't have earplugs or noise issues so beware the upper floors. 2. Tried make reservation at hotel restaurant...rang 100 times, no answer. Then 50 times. No... Read more

This was my first stay at this hotel. My first hint should have been the earplugs on the nightstand. A train comes by every morning blowing the horn at 3 am every morning. Ear plugs don't help.My room was very nice. Since I'm a Diamond with HHonors they upgraded my room to a junior suite. The fitness center was nice and well equipped. Super location for downtown Modesto - so it's just a consequence of its location that train sounds can be heard. Although we heard them late at night they did not wake us up. The walk in shower in our corner room was enormous. Ample electrical outlets by the desk - would have liked more near the bed table. The bed was very comfortable- there were two sinks one inside the bathroom and one outside (very handy). The bathroom had sliding doors which is not our favorite set up. The breakfast buffet w... I stayed the weekend here with my teenage daughter for a dance convention. First time staying at a Doubletree. The freshly baked cookies given at check in was a nice touch. It was very easy to check in and out, friendly, helpful staff, and clean rooms with comfortable beds. The refrigerator in the room was very handy. The most memorable aspect of the hotel stay was being issued with ear plugs so the trains didn't awaken us - however, there was only one pair per issued per room and given that we each have two ears, the option was either to block one ear each or sacrifice a sleep in. The wi-fi was also tricky to operate and several guests had to pay then claim it back, even if eligible to use it for free. Restaurant service was very slow but the food was very nice. It seems like this might be the only decent hotel in the area. The staff were fantastic. The room was so so, the furniture/ carpet was old. However, you do hear the trains going by - loudly - and the hotel doesn't have fans or other sounds machines to help mitigate the train sounds.

The rooms here are huge! Just needed a place for one evening and this place was just right. Clean rooms and a nice view of Modesto from the 9th floor. Appears like the only tall building in town. Once you check in, no need to leave, the restaurant/bar is perfectly appointed downstairs. Plenty of rooms downstairs if you need to book for a presentation to a team of people. And of course, don't forget your yummy cookie!
