How to make a bricks and mortar place into an unbelievable experience? Attention to detail and great service!. The remodel literally transformed a dated hotel into an amazing property. The service finished off the experience. Cocktails are spectacular! We were there for a 24hr layover. Next time we'll take a few days. Mjc

Absolutely loved our stay at this hotel, we were really pleased with our choice as we nearly booked the Ritz Carlton and after eating at the RC I'm really glad we picked Marina Del Ray hotel. Huge comfy bed, modern room and big bathroom with walk in shower and Molton Brown products. It's got a great modern vibe, feels fresh and clean and even smells amazing! Our balcony view was stunning from the top floor, I could have sat there all day. Salt was also a great bar with some great cocktails and... Read more

We had an enjoyable to stay in Marina Del Rey area and thought the staff were very friendly. However the walls/ceiling are paper thin and this had been pointed out in previous reviews when we were booking. We didn't think it would be that bad though. We got an early check in and we were given a room which had a joining room with a door in it. We stayed 2 nights, there must have been kids upstairs as we could hear them running regularly. That's bearable as there are plenty of things to do fo... Read more

Myself and two friends stayed at the Marina Del Rey Hotel recently and we where very happy with our stay. The hotel is a smaller hotel which is great not to be in a huge hotel with a lot of people. The rooms are big and the beds are very comfortable. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Wifi is free and fast. We loved the bar downstairs for an afternoon drink. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Los Angeles.

The Marina Del Ray hotel is located on one of the piers at Marina Del Ray. While the outside tells you this is a hotel that's been around for a while, you wouldn't know that from the inside. The hotel is all style, but built on colours, textures and furniture which are based on the feeling of summer and the sea. The rooms are a generous size, well served by high quality amenities, furniture, linen and bathroom. The only downside with the rooms, is that if you have a "thumper" above you, you will... Read more

I visit my kids at UCLA frequently and usually stay at an LAX hotel or one along I405 for convenience. I tried MDRH for 3 days just for something different and was very pleasantly surprised. Ultra clean hotel, sharp young staff, and very quiet. Beautiful views of the marina; we even saw the space shuttle fuel tank being barged to fisherman's wharf enroute to the California Science Centre. Restaurant service and food were good. If you have a car: it's valet parking only at $30/night. Traffic ... Read more

My parents used to stay here when they would make their pilgrimage to AFM. Back then, I thought it was in a great location but it needed updates. A couple of years and a Hotwire dice roll later and I find myself back at Marina deal Rey - and what a year makes. Every square inch of the place has been tastefully redone. I even noted that they were running a decent scent in the lobby. Rooms themselves are great. Good trim. Nice ambiance. I wound up with a room that overlooked the valet are... Read more

We had mostly a positive experience during our one night stay in Marina del Rey. We had a marina view room and enjoyed watching the sailboats parade back and forth including a few skippers that failed to complete a tack without ending up "in irons". But enough sailing jargon. We arrived on a Sunday and apparently this time of year they host an afternoon pool party that is open to the general public for $15 but free to hotel guests. It was very noisy and crowded and fortunately my wife a... Read more

Repurposed hotel - I don't remember what it was before. Just over a year old. They did a nice job with the lobby and common areas - airy feel that definitely lets in the ocean vibe. That said, it's still a 3-3.5 star at its core. To be honest (I used to live in the area), I'm not sure that I'd pay $300ish for a parking lot view (aka "city view") room. The marina-facing views, at least on the upper floor, were nice. There's definitely not as much to "do" in the Marina as say Venice or Santa Moni... Read more

Fantastic views of the marina. Restaurants within walking distance (we did not have a car.) Salt Restaurant (on site) has great Happy Hour and unique snacks. The mushroom toast was superb! Service was excellent around pool and front desk was always willing to answer questions and give advice. I needed extra hangars and received them immediately. Comfortable bed, nice shower. Walls are rather thin, heard more than I wanted to! This is a great alternative to the Hilton's and Marriott's.

I brought my best friend for a girls weekend and received the best hospitality service I have ever experienced in a hotel (I should know - I also work in hospitality). We absolutely loved this place! Lovely and modern decor, stand alone shower (a must for me), centrally located to all the main attractions in LA, and great staff! The kids want to go back already. The Salt restaurant had a pretty good happy hour for appetizers and adult beverages. However there were so many good restaurants nearby that were far less expensive for meals. This hotel is modern and is surrounded on three sides by the Marina. We had their Grand Marina Suite for four nights with a wrap around deck. The view was gorgeous. Wonderful hotel, friendly staff, beautiful rooms, amazing views. My friend and I wanted to go away for the holiday weekend, but didn't want to deal with airports or spending too much time traveling. After a 25 minute Uber ride from West Hollywood we were in the Marina and checking into this beautiful hotel. They did a great job with the re-model, it really felt like a new hotel. Beautiful pool and outdoor fire pits for dinner/drinks. Restaurant is excellent too. The Còte de B?uf was best steak we've had in quite a while. Special shout out to Nancy, the concierge,... We absolutely loved this property. From the entrance to the pool. Everything was done top shelf. This is where we will always stay when in the area. We adored the music room with the LP player. The loungers by the pool we extra comfy. Food was delicious. You can't go wrong with this one!

Overall, very positive experience. Hotel, restaurant and staff are top notch. Extra props to Nancy (concierge) who was extremely pleasant & helpful. Two small dings - 1. On check-in, my credit cards (3 of them!) were rejected. Turns out it wasn't an issue with my cards, but with their system. To their credit, they gave us a $50 voucher to their restaurant which we used toward a delicious breakfast. 2. The bathroom in our room was very small. Not a huge deal, but with both of us getting ready ... Read more

Family and friends were in town for my Grandson's Bar Mitzvah in Venice. We had six rooms in the hotel. Everyone was more than satisfied with the accommodations and with the location. The views were spectacular. We all enjoyed the great ambiance of the restaurant and the bar (especially Happy Hour). The staff was very pleasant and helpful. A shout out to Nancy and Ann for all their extra help. I highly recommend the Marina Del Rey Hotel.

We stayed for a long weekend and were very happy with the beautiful newly renovated rooms and property. Facing out into the harbor, we could watch all the activity from the comfort of our room. Pool is very nice without chlorine chemicals, sun all day and attentive wait staff. The restaurant SALT was very good. Outdoor seating was perfect for dinner and sunset. We have stayed at the Ritz many times. I will return to the classic Marina Del Rey hotel.

Very clean rooms partially directly situated at pool, nice pool, good food, excellent very personal service. Good location to reach venice santa monica and abbot kinney by bike. Very calm area without any street or other noise. Unfortunately breakfast only menu not buffet but compared to other hotels in us very good breakfast.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel itself is gorgeous and modern. The environment is fun and carefree. My room was superior. Very clean and spacious. I love that the harbor was right there. Gerald Tellez, the Hotel Manager is very knowledgeable as well as outgoing and very accommodating. He gave me the names of places to eat and things to do. It was obvious to me that he knows this industry. I highly recommend the Marina Del Rey Hotel.

We stayed here in mid-October after having a mix-up at the Marriott LAX- The staff at Marina Del Rey is outstanding. In fact, they assisted us with a rental car company (Marathon) that came and picked us up in their own shuttle. The hotel has a very popular restaurant, SALT, which we ate at and was great- try the fish tacos- Yum. The room service food was excellent and prompt. This hotel generally caters to a "hip and younger?? crowd, but we saw a mix of all ages and families. I wouldn't ... Read more

I stayed at the Marina Del Rey hotel for 5 nights, and it was the best hotel I have stayed in. The entire staff is extremely polite and always happy to assist in any way. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are even cleaner! We had a wonderful view of the bay and a balcony which we sat out on almost every day. The room Service is delicious, we ordered breakfast to the room "French toast, pancakes, omelette with sun dried tomatoes and asparagus," and it was the best hotel breakfast I've ever ea... Read more

Rooms are nicely appointed (however they don't warn you if you pick up snacks that are for sale you get automatically charged; I had to sort my bill at the end). Staff was extremely friendly at all contact points. Room service options limited but very good.

we spent a weekend in mdr hotel. our room was 2nd floor over the SALT restaurant. the noise and the smells of the food and the butane for the mood lighting at the lounges did not make for a memorable weekend. the room was nicely appointed and cleaned. but the sound of neighboring sliding doors and the elephants in the 3rd floor above our room did not provide a quite visit.

Very impressed with the accommodation at the Marina Del Ray Hotel after flying into LAX Airport. Our room overlooked the pool and Marina, and the use of the swimming pool was very refreshing. The staff were very accommodating and professional. Also hired bicycles and cycled on the bike track in both directions from the hotel. A great stopover!

On first arriving at the MDR the exterior view is not that appealing, it looks like a motel for the 60's.... but once inside there is a hidden gem. Clearly the refurbishment 2 years ago has made a significant difference to this once 60's style hotel. The lobby and reception was spacious and welcoming. Check in was easy and We were offered the choice of floors. Having researched the booking beforehand I had chosen a marina view based on previous reviews and the views were fantastic. The room wa... I can't say enough about this wonderful hotel. We stayed 3 nights and have found our home when we visit Marina del Rey in the future. From the moment you pulled up, the valet team could not be more welcoming, the front desk staff was wonderful, and now to Nancy Cantu the Concierge; You can tell from the moment you meet Nancy that she loves her job and makes you feel so welcome. She couldn't have been more helpful with things to do in the area, bike rentals or just a friendly chat. We had a ... Read more

I stayed here for a week while I was in town for business. The bed was excellent! Had to be my favorite part of my stay. The room I was in was in great condition and looked like it has been recently renovated. I ate at the restaurant a couple of times while I was there. The French style omelette was excellent in the morning and in the evening the bar had a good selection of scotch. I will definitely stay here again when I am in town.

I usually stay at the Ritz but kept walking by and thought I should give it a whirl. While it's not as luxurious, it's a modern remake in a fantastic location. The bed was very comfortable and the service was top notch. Suggest renting a bike and a whirl around the sea wall. The restaurant has a great location and the pool area was buzzing. Lots of happy people here. Very friendly.

We stayed at this hotel for a few days while in LA. We thought the location was great and loved being able to bike to Venice and Santa Monica. The trails were easy with lots of people watching. We loved the beaches, shops and restaurants which were all so close. We got the one bedroom suite and it was large and comfortable for our family of four. The pool was nice. We really enjoyed our stay. Would recommend a marina view.

I couldn't have been happier with my stay at the Marina Del Rey Hotel. The hotel and rooms were clean and beautiful with incredible views of one of the most beautiful marinas in the world. The food and service were also excellent! I can't thank the hotel manager, Gerald Tellez, enough for going out of his way to make sure our accommodations were perfect. Marina Del Rey Hotel will always be my home when I visit.

We loved this hotel. It is upmarket but not stuffy. The setting in the marina is gorgeous, the food we ate at the restaurant was great, the room was spacious, very clean and extremely comfortable. We stayed in 13 hotels on a recent US road trip and this one was definitely our favourite of all. We got an Uber into LA one day to do all the sightseeing which cost about $40 each way. The second day we just chilled by the fabulous pool. Would definitely go back if we were in LA. There were fire... Read more

We loved this hotel. It is in a great location and was such a wonderful, relaxed place to return to at the end of the day. We loved cycling to Santa Monica and Manhattan Beach and the hotel staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. The decor is beautiful, the hotel restaurant is great and it was so nice to have a great view of the marina. We will be back!

I stayed here one night two weeks ago on the last night on our Central Coast Wine Tasting vacation. Close to LAX and perfect location to get to the the airport quickly. The hotel is very cool and hip. It's a little spend, but with the research I did still less expensive than staying at the places in Santa Monica or Venice Beach. Rooms are a little small, but very nice. Beds are so comfortable with lots of luscious pillows. My friend and I went to dinner that night in Santa Monica, but after... Read more

Awesome hotel, one of my favorites in town. Recently renovated, clean, great views, generous rooms. Salt (restaurant) may also have one of the best burgers in town and their fire pit patio on the marina is an ideal way to end the day.

Hotel was great, views of the marina were beautiful and the staff was friendly and helpful. My only problem with the hotel was it was set apart about 3/4 of a mile from any of the local restaurants, coffee shops or attractions. I was using Uber so needed to walk to most of these places, which made for a nice walk as the weather was great but at 5 am trying to find a cup of coffee that wasn't in-room. Would definitely stay again and would come prepared (but some coffee/water for the morning). ... Read more
