Stayed here for a week on a family trip. The hotel looks dated and the room furnishings were worn and could do with an upgrade. There was a gas cooktop in the room, but nothing to cook with - a kettle would have been more useful. The fridge was rusty and noisy. However the beds were OK and the room was quiet except for some street noise. This suited us because we really only needed somewhere to keep our luggage and sleep while we explored the LA area. Hotel is close to train station which was ha... Read more

Our stay started with a bump. We were three people and had already visited New York and Anaheim (Disneland) before. We were used to have two double beds but this hotel only had rooms with two twin beds or only one double. It was not the hotel's fault, but our travel agencie's whom failed to inform us. When we got to the room we were curious to see "The view" which was -let's say-not worth it. We tried to put the blinds down but couldn't, the phone next to the bed didn't work but the one in the b... Read more

There was an apparent confusion with my reservation. Why, I do not know. Cleaning staff removed my belongings from the room when it was obvious that I had not checked out. (Open suitcase on bed, hair dryer plugged in, phone charger plugged in, toothbrush and toothpaste at vanity, shampoo in shower, etc). Obviously not checked out. The hotel was not even close to being booked. So, no reason to remove my items with me obviously returning. But, they removed my belongings. No big deal right? Life ha... Read more

Reviews I read were overly exaggerated about how bad this place was. It's affordable for the low budget individual. Nothing special but located nicely for my needs. I would stay there again in the future.

Do not get fooled by the somewhat nice-looking exterior and valet. Once arrived in the room we realized it was two junior beds... if you have never heard of junior beds, well picture 3/4 of a single bed. Pillows were the tiniest we had ever seen, and we couldn't close the bathroom door properly. The A/C was broken so it was crazy warm in there + we couldn't open the windows as there is a bar right under and the music was blasting... stay away - highly recommend.

Nothing about this hotel experience was even decent. First, they gave us the wrong room with 1 bed and their only solution was another room right above the bar. We agreed to take it as we were going to be out late anyways. After figuring our way through a construction zone on the second floor we found our Newly remodeled room. The room was tiny, not very clean and the beds were not comfortable at all. After returning to the room after a night out, I was greeted by a very drunk toothless woman ba... Read more

I am very happy with this hotel. I was allowed to check in at 8am in morning. Its a very good budget hotel. Prons- Close to Metro train station, clean, daily room service, cheap. Cons- Rooms and toilets bit small.

We stayed two nights at Kawada Hotel in downtown LA. We chose it for the location. I would consider the hotel a budget hotel except for the price. It was somewhat basic and very minimalistic. The staff we great though.. they made the stay alright. The rooms are basic, clean and comfy. Overall the experience was good.

We booked the Kawada Hotel because of its great location. You had to watch your steps in the hallways because the ground was crooked, same for the rooms. Everything was crooked. We had booked 4 nights, and had 2 days no hot water. We got a discount because of that. The room was clean, staff was friendly. But I would not come back to this hotel. They charge too much for what you get.

I guess for a hotel located in the city calls for no parking and small rooms, but I guess I really wasn't expecting that. The parking is a valet service, which you would have to leave your car in front of the hotel, and go inside the hotel for the valet parking to take place...and, mind you, it cost $22 per car to park. The room was very small...it felt like a prison cell (although it was tidy and clean). The shower was initially cold, but wait a minute and it will start to get hotter. Overall, ... Read more

Firstly the website clearly states free Parking... Which there is not, it makes it really difficult to check in thinking that and it not being the case, as there is scarce parking around. Went across the street for $11 parking. Be careful it's not open weekends though! Valet cost $22. Aircon was noisey Room smelt damp. Very out dated! The only reason I gave 1 star is because the staff where really nice and great help! That should be known.

This is a great place to stay if your trying to stick with a budget either for a quick getaway or business trip. We stayed here for a few nights when visiting Los Angeles. Downtown LA is quite a distance from Hollywood but there is a metro station across the road which we both loaded with a few bucks and that lasted us quite a few trips the metro is miles cheaper than taxis!! You can also get the metro right to universal city if your planning on doing a studio tour. The hotel is very basic ... Read more

The hotel is across the road from the Civic Centre Subway Station in Downtown Los Angeles, which made it easy to explore Los Angeles when using public transport. There is also a market nearby to purchase fresh vegetables and local cuisine. Most local stores are closed at night so plan ahead. I went to roof top bar nearby called the Perch. It is hard to find, so ask a local where the entrance is. The staff were professional and friendly. Check in and check out was a quick process. The room was c... Read more

A budget hotel close to the Metro in Downtown L.A. Felt safe and secure, all staff friendly/courteous. Reported cold shower to John the Manager. Within 30 mins the Janitor in the bathroom running the hot water and explaining you turn it to the RIGHT for hot water.DOH! Room quiet and clean bed firm/comfortable. Everything worked. Next door to the hotel is a nice cafe for breakfast, locals use it. Metro takes you directly to Universal Studios(short walk over a bridge to the Studio shuttle bus), co... Read more

Kawada Hotel is located in an ideal Downtown LA location. Walking distance from Grand Park, Grand Central market and landmarks. Valet parking is offered for $22/day but I parked in a lot next to the hotel for much cheaper. Hotel staff is friendly and check in is a breeze. As for the rooms, it is apparent that they recently underwent renovation. They have brighter, more modern rooms, instead of the ones pictured here. Great HDTV with a cool entertainment hub. Only issue I had was the bathroom. Ve... Read more

The staff at the Kawada Hotel are friendly, professional, and helpful. The location is reasonably convenient to downtown LA. That's where the positives end. My room had a very loud humming/vibrating noise at all hours, day and night. There wasn't any hot water in the shower one of the days. The internet only worked one of the three days I stayed there. The built-in hairdryer they provided lit on fire when I turned it on - yes, literally, smoke pouring out of the blower and open flames inside.

Most of the people did point out that this Hotel is quite good if you are on a budget. But I cannot share this. First I do not consider 150.- USD for a night to be any close to low budget, and for this hotel this is way to much money.... Rooms: very small rooms, and I mean very small. Okay there is a little desk below the TV set, and a bed. And a bathroom with a shower. But if you want to place your suitcase somewhere the only place it the desk. No other option or room. On the picture here is a... Read more

We stayed in a room with a king bed. There wasn't much room to maneuver around, but we did okay. The bedroom looked like it had been recently renovated, it looked like they forgot to upgrade the bathroom. There was an old tile floor that looked like it could be nice if someone would re-grout it. Also, even though this was a non-smoking room, I could smell smoke coming from somewhere in the bathroom. Maybe from downstairs? The staff was very nice and we were always greeted pleasantly by the doo... Read more
