Very small room with a most peculiar odour that was at times overpowering. Maybe an option for one night but would definitely recommend looking elsewhere for longer stays. Located in Downtown LA close to good food court but long walk to places of interest.

The hotel somehow has an air of Japanese serenity, and though our room was small it had all the usual amenities. Best yet, it's a short walk to the Grand Central Market with its many ethnic food vendors, and only a slightly longer trek to the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the MOCA. The DASH bus stop is only a block away, and the bus will take seniors all over the downtown area for a quarter! We'd definitely stay there again.

The hotel is located at Hill Street on a quiet neighborhood but close to food haven at Grand Central Market which has plenty of options. Rooms are small but we had a king size bed which occupies about half of the room space. Ours was at the closest to the street so we anticipate some noise. But thankfully we had good sleep thanks to the large bed and comfy pillows. One issue I had was the humming heater and the bathroom exhaust fan, but as said it did not matter since we had a couple of good ... Read more

We stayed in a room with a king bed. There wasn't much room to maneuver around, but we did okay. The bedroom looked like it had been recently renovated, it looked like they forgot to upgrade the bathroom. There was an old tile floor that looked like it could be nice if someone would re-grout it. Also, even though this was a non-smoking room, I could smell smoke coming from somewhere in the bathroom. Maybe from downstairs? The staff was very nice and we were always greeted pleasantly by the doo... Read more

Found Kawada hotel a great location for anyone visiting L.A without a car.Trains , Buses both across down and up the road from the hotel to all major tourist attractions (Universal,Hollywood,Santa Monica,Venice, and land marks to name a few). And a nice walk if you don t mind to Staples center, L.A live, you get real feel of the city.Grand central market is 2 minute walk from the hotel to get a variety of tasty foods from around the world such a cool little spot:).My room was small but great for w... Most of the people did point out that this Hotel is quite good if you are on a budget. But I cannot share this. First I do not consider 150.- USD for a night to be any close to low budget, and for this hotel this is way to much money.... Rooms: very small rooms, and I mean very small. Okay there is a little desk below the TV set, and a bed. And a bathroom with a shower. But if you want to place your suitcase somewhere the only place it the desk. No other option or room. On the picture here is a... Read more

The staff at the Kawada Hotel are friendly, professional, and helpful. The location is reasonably convenient to downtown LA. That's where the positives end. My room had a very loud humming/vibrating noise at all hours, day and night. There wasn't any hot water in the shower one of the days. The internet only worked one of the three days I stayed there. The built-in hairdryer they provided lit on fire when I turned it on - yes, literally, smoke pouring out of the blower and open flames inside.

Kawada Hotel is located in an ideal Downtown LA location. Walking distance from Grand Park, Grand Central market and landmarks. Valet parking is offered for $22/day but I parked in a lot next to the hotel for much cheaper. Hotel staff is friendly and check in is a breeze. As for the rooms, it is apparent that they recently underwent renovation. They have brighter, more modern rooms, instead of the ones pictured here. Great HDTV with a cool entertainment hub. Only issue I had was the bathroom. Ve... Read more

A budget hotel close to the Metro in Downtown L.A. Felt safe and secure, all staff friendly/courteous. Reported cold shower to John the Manager. Within 30 mins the Janitor in the bathroom running the hot water and explaining you turn it to the RIGHT for hot water.DOH! Room quiet and clean bed firm/comfortable. Everything worked. Next door to the hotel is a nice cafe for breakfast, locals use it. Metro takes you directly to Universal Studios(short walk over a bridge to the Studio shuttle bus), co... Read more

The hotel is across the road from the Civic Centre Subway Station in Downtown Los Angeles, which made it easy to explore Los Angeles when using public transport. There is also a market nearby to purchase fresh vegetables and local cuisine. Most local stores are closed at night so plan ahead. I went to roof top bar nearby called the Perch. It is hard to find, so ask a local where the entrance is. The staff were professional and friendly. Check in and check out was a quick process. The room was c... Read more
