Ideal stay to get a true taste of Hollywood. The atmosphere was amazing - loved the pictures, the old-fashioned elevator, and the appearance of the room. Such a break from boring modern US hotel chains!

I stayed here for 2 nights during Christmas vacation and found the hotel very close to many areas around Hollywood. Got 3rd floor king size room there was lot of renovation going on and it was smelling paint all the time. Thankfully rooms were clean. The AC will only cool so need personal heaters. There is a new restaurant near office but it was closed and we didn't want to eat there anyways. 2 bottle of water just for 1st night. Parking $18 for 1 night. Considering other hotels I think they hav... Read more

This historic hotel has a small elevator (worked well, and at least they have one). The room was large enough for our needs, the bathroom has been updated, the water was hot, and the bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. The lobby has several chairs and a few small tables nicely spaced. Many photos of movie actors from years past (Ava Gardner, Cary Grant, Shirley Temple - many more) and some old photos of the Los Angeles area. They provided bottled water in the room. Th... Read more

Okay, to tell you the truth we picked this location for three reasons: the price, its proximity to the places we wanted to walk to during our trip (including Paramount Studios, The Hollywood Forever Cemetery, and the Hollywood Farmers' Market) and for its kitsch appeal. We fully expected the hotel to be a dive, and were pleasantly surprised to find that not only wasn't it a dump, but real effort have recently been made to increase the comfort levels of its guests through some truly four star ame... We stayed there for two nights on a vacation to CA. We were extremely disappointed by the hotel and the room. The lobby is basically non existent and the elevator is for sure historic. The room is where we were the most unhappy. it was not clean and not hotel like. One chair and the room was very very small. The bathroom looks like it hasn't been updated in 60 years! Cleanliness is a big concern of mine and this did not meet my expectations at all.

Stayed here for two nights in a recent trip to LA. It's well located, reasonably priced and had good service from staff. Comments noted from previous reviews in relation to the area being a bit sketchy but we used taxis to get too and from where we wanted to go so didn't experience any problems.

Had the pleasure of staying recently at this hotel and absolutely LOVED it! It's charming, quaint, extremely clean and has some very nice touches (bottled water and slippers for each guest) The bathroom has modern upgrades and our room was freshly painted. The King size bed was extremely comfortable and the room even featured a walk in closet with two bars for plenty of storage space! Adored the tiny elevator and the entire vibe of the hotel. The recently opened Edmon bar is GORGEOUS! ... Read more

Great hotel for the price ! We love to stay in historic places. The details are gorgeous. We had a very late check-in and they had no problem accommodating us. It was close enough to universal and paramount studios. Would stay again.

This is a clean, comfortable room with friendly, helpful staff. The old time pictures all over the hotel bring it historic charm. Great for a day or two to take care of business and visit downtown Hollywood.
