This hotel is very old but very cool with antiques in the lobby and lots of photos of old movie stars on the walls in all the corridors. The staff on the front desk were very helpful and let us use their phone to call for a shuttle back to the airport as there are no phones in the room. The room itself was very large although the bathroom was quite small. The bed was very large and very comfortable. For some bizarre reason there is a walk in wardrobe which would have been better as a kitchenette... Read more

I booked here believing parking was free, TripAdvisor says so. When we arrived we had to pay an extra $40 for parking. They apparently knew that the information on TripAdvisor was wrong, but do not bother changing it -- why should they it lures customers like me to book their hotel.

This is a great little hotel. It has the charm of a 1920s/1930s Hollywood studio dormitory (which, I have read, is how it was used in its heyday). The location is fantastic, with easy access from the nearby freeways and a somewhat pedestrian friendly neighborhood that is within reach of Larchmont Village, East Hollywood, and the main "drag" of Vine, Hollywood Blvd., etc. Reasonably priced Italian bistro within walking distance. The hotel itself is standard, meaning that there isn't much in the ... Read more

I found this a great hotel, quiet, clean and reasonably priced for LA. Yes you pay for parking ,but $10 will not break the bank. It is a taxi ride to the Hollywood walk of fame. The elevator is a classic 2 person.

I read some reviews before I stayed here and I was a little uncertain, but I had no need to be. I had a room on the street (a tiny bit of noise), so had a view of LA and the Hollywood sign which was a bit of a treat. The room was clean and perfect for a short stay. I read some reviews about a smell, but my room was fine. I am a movie buff, so I got a kick out of the memorabilia. The staff were LOVELY and super helpful. This is NOT in central Hollywood - so if you want to be amongst it, then mayb... Read more

Overall this is not a bad hotel. Just don't go expecting much. You get a clean room, decent location and free internet. The hotel is vintage. Even the elevator is from the 30's. You can barely fit 2 people inside. I did notice an odor when I first entered the room. I think I got use to it after the first night. There's no restaurant, gym, vending machines, ice machines or business center to print things off. Parking is in back of hotel and is $10/night. There's not much within walking distance, ... This hotel is severely outdated. Upon arrival we were immediately angered by the false advertisement and photo trickery on their website. However most places were fully booked because of the local pride parade over the weekend. We checked into our room and quickly were overwhelmed by the strong odor of marijuana. I alerted the front desk and he offered to switch the room, but I said no it's okay i turned on the air condition (window unit) it should be fine because we will not be back for hours. ... Read more

This hotel was an amazing hotel to stay in. The room was perfect and our room overlooked the Hollywood sign. I would defiantly stay again. The street the hotel is on has amazing shopping also, walking distance to a supermarket and 7/11. The staff were very helpful.

Hotel dates from 1927 and still retains some old Hollywood charm: Very close to Paramont Studios but a good 30 mins walk to the nearest Metro system this hotel is a good starting point for those on more of a budget: Check in by Michael was friendly and fast; a $100 deposit is required at the time; while there is nothing at the hotel in the way of amenities; the rooms are large and comfortable; wifi is strong and some of the best TV channels with a huge selections (I like TV!) - room was clean an... We stayed for a week and found the hotel central to everything either by foot or on the easy to get around public transport. Grand old hotel currently being lovingly restored to its former glory. It will be fantastic when it's finished. Loved the old elevator and the beautiful old photos. Rooms can get hot and stuffy but a/c works hard to accommodate. Staff very friendly and helpful. Recommend to anyone wanting a great place to stay.

But they give us and many others guest a room for the night and the next morning we could return to Hollywood historic With even a better room and a view on the Hollywood sign. We can't fault this hotel at all. The rooms were lovely and the bathroom looked to be newly renovated. The staff were friendly and also let us store our bags on our last day which was a great help as we didn't fly home until midnight. The location is great and the price was very reasonable. We would stay here again.

At 200m walking distance from the hotel is paramount pictures. This hotel is older but you are getting for what tou paying. Reception was very friendly. We walked little over an hour to hollywood boulevard. Do not bother because, because there are enough public parkings. At the hotel the parking was free. At 100m from the hotel is a very good restaurant osteria la bucca.

As the name suggests, this is an old and historic hotel. Location is good. Has all essential amenities. Renovated recently. But not to be compared with the new places. It is and has to maintain its historic character which gives it the special ambience. Location is convenient. Staff very helpful. But it is Los Angeles - distances to anywhere without your own car is a challenge

Price and location are both very good. It is near the Hollywood hills and sign It's great not having to pay for parking. Rooms had enough space, you also get coffee maker, fridge and 2 bottles of water on your first day of arrival. Place looks a little run down and old looking but I think they're renovating. You had everything you need so it was fine. Wifi was available and reliable to use. They also provided 24 hrs reception (not that we needed it during the night, but good to know that the... Read more

I am finding it hard to believe that the reviews of others relate to this hotel! Haans on reception was helpful, another man on reception treated us as invisible and the lady whom I believe to be one of the owners was unhelpful and unreceptive to comments. We had to pay $12 a day for parking. The hotel is advertised as having a café where guests can enjoy breakfast, and coffee all day, but the café closed 6 months ago. There is no restaurant, the previous one having closed 2 years ago! This is an older hotel a couple blocks away from Paramount Pictures and handy to the Thai Consulate General and Thai Town. It is being completely remodeled inside and out. The rooms are not fancy but the room we had was remodeled, clean and comfortable. There is no in-house restaurant at the present time but there will be one when remodeling is complete. The staff was courteous and friendly. Room rates are reasonable but there is an additional $12 per night charge for parking.

The hotel is definitely vintage but well taken care of. We were looking for value and something a bit less cookie-cutter and this hotel delivered. Although parking is additional it is reasonable. The hotel itself is old and creepy. Our room was large with a huge closet. Had an "old" smell. Our bathroom was updated but the bathroom light was almost non existent. You could hear everything in the hallways and the door to the room didn't close properly and you could see outside and see the light. We took an Uber to the WOF and was a $6 ride each way. Close to Paramount. Hollywood itself is creepy and a freak show. You're better off staying in Beverly.

This is LA, so close parking (or easy parking in general) is always a good thing. They have a lot right in the back for $12 a night which isn't bad in my opinion. There's no gym, but there's WIFI. My room was clean, they had a working AC and the bathroom was clean. There was a mini fridge and even a sink in the main room. I arrived late (due to delays in flights/security) so travelled to the hotel in the dark and initially felt worried that I had made a mistake. It's charming, quaint, extremely clean and has some very nice touches (bottled water and slippers for each guest) The bathroom has modern upgrades and our room was freshly painted.
