Great location if you are staying in the downtown area. Near Chinatown, Little Tokyo and Little Korea and many other downtown attractions. Staff at hotel has been superb. Hotel is clean but there are some dated features (popcorn ceilings) nicely decorated to keep up with the Little Tokyo area.

Great location for Music Center and Convention Center. The beds are comfy. The amenities are terrific. The room was clean clean clean. Staff was awesome. Suggested restaurants that were excellent. Immediately took care of needs and requests. The Justice Cafe (talk to Paul) was inviting. Bartender (Kevin was terrific too. You will have a fabulous stay!

A bit dated and not everything working (ice machines), and availability of either LA or NY Times would be preferred to the ubiquitous WSJ and USA Today. Staff is generally helpful and always willing to bring up ice because the machine was not working. The restaurant is not too sophisticated.

We stay at this hotel frequently when we come to town to see our son who is a USC student. The rooms are always great, the staff is excellent, and the breakfast in the dining room is really wonderful. I hate the expense of the valet parking but understand the realities of downtown LA. Not that we use it much except for breakfast, but the food at the on-site restaurant is really good. The Japanese garden and the entrance to Little Tokyo from the back at the hotel are added bonuses. We stayed here one night to be close to the train station, but I would definitely consider returning if I wanted to stay in downtown LA. Room was very nice, and the staff were great. It has a Japanese flavor, as it is located in the neighborhood that is referred to as "Little Tokyo". The rooftop garden is very distinctive, and I can easily imagine booking a wedding and reception using the private garden. Also, on leaving the hotel in the morning, only one of 4 elevators were operational requiring a nearly 15min wait to exit the floor as all elevator cars were packed full.

With the exception of the Kyoto Garden, a lovely Japanese style garden on the hotel grounds, this is a basic Doubletree hotel (complete with the D-tree cookies). It is, overall, and average chain hotel. However, what is not average is the terrible soundproofing of the hotel. The problem wasn't noise within the hotel, but the noise from outside -- even on a high floor, with ear plugs in and a pillow over my head, all of the traffic, sirens, etc. were quite loud throughout the night; it almost s... Everyone very nice at the hotel - it's a Doubletree, and it's a good one. However, it is insanely loud, and that's even taking into account the fact that it's downtown. Super loud. Other than that, it's a good Doubletree, one of my favorite chains.

Staff were all very pleasant. Room furnishings very dated, dark and in need of complete redo of carpet and wall coverings.Main Lobby dark and not inviting. The Kyoto Garden is still special but nothing else really redeeming. Location marginal and not suitable for travelers strolling after dark at all.

I stayed a couple times at this hotel on business. It is amazing with the Japanese garden that allows me to escape from the hectic life. The hotel is different from other DW by adding some Japanese elements to the decoration and service since it is in Little Tokyo. The thousand-cranes Garden, the Japanese-style window, paintings, lights and Miso soup are some examples. Locating in the heart of Little Tokyo, it gives guests easy access to a lot of restaurants. Below are a couple tips: 1. Fron... Read more

A very well run hotel with a friendly and caring staff. Very close to Union Station in LA. They have a courtesy car, which we found very helpful. We were very tired when we arrived on the train, the courtesy car was available to pick us up. All our luggage was handled for us. We felt like we had been rescued. Our entire experience at this hotel was top-notch!

This is a solid choice if staying downtown. Good price, good size rooms. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Decor and rooms are a tad dated, though, and could use some sprucing up. One of the best features is their check-in process. 24 hours prior to arrival you can check-in and choose your room. This is really great when you have multiple rooms like I had. I had one issue, prior to arrival, that wasn't handled well and would like to point out. I had reserved 3 rooms. 2 for 5 nights and 1 for... Read more

We recently had an overnight at the Doubletree Los Angeles Downtown. We had recently stayed at the Checkers Hilton Los Angeles but on this visit to LA, the Checkers was sold out. We once again took Amtrak from San Diego to LA and since the Doubletree was very near Union Station, we thought of walking the short distance. When I asked at one of the Union Station Security team the best route to walk to the Doubletree, we got the response ‚??No don‚??t you be walking around between here and the D... Read more

We were apprehensive about the stay after reading the reviews around the area. This did not impact our stay at all. The hotel is lovely, the staff could not do anything more for you and the cookies on arrival just topped the stay! It's ideal to have a car to get to the main tourist attractions in Hollywood and Beverly Hills this was a 20 drive. Parking is not too bad at $40 per night. the rooms are great we could not ask for anything else, the view was fantastic and we really enjoyed our stay. I... Read more

Hotel is located downtown within walking distance of most everything you need. Great staff who recommended walking down to Union Station to catch the Dodger Express for the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game to avoid traffic and parking. I think what makes this DoubleTree special is the very large rooftop garden. Its huge. Its a nice hotel at a pretty nice price for my stay. I like Hilton beds and we had a nice view. Service was very good, they brought up a shaving cream, cleaned the room in a timely manner, and had my car ready at the valet quickly. There is a bar and a Starbucks downstairs, and pretty good restaurant (gastropub is what they would probably refer to themselves as). I would definitely stay here again and hi... Read more

Nice place to stay if you need to be downtown. Property is remodeled and is in line with any other Doubletree. Easy 3 block walk to Union Station and connections to anywhere you'd want to go to in LA. Area is safe and waking friendly. Also has a good lobby bar that I will cover in next review.

I have been lucky enough to be a customer for 20 years now. The beauty and peace of their Japanese Garden is reason alone to stay at this fabulous DoubleTree. Staff are excellent & Bartender "Mo" is an icon! Add the cookies & there is NO reason to stay anywhere else in Downtown LA.

Hotel - The hotel is large, open and inviting. Easy to get around although trying to find your room can be confusing at first! The lobby is beautifully presented with plenty of places to lounge and chill. The hotel has a bar, restaurant, fitness suit and Japanese garden to the rear, although we didn't experience anything of these. I visited this hotel for a work trip for training. The hotel lobby/restaurant/lobby bar is very nice and the staff was helpful and courteous whenever I interacted with them. However, this hotel is not worth the nightly price and was the worst part of my stay in LA. I based my expectations of the hotel off the price per night of the room. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the DoubleTree in Little Tokyo in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. Everything was excellent. If I can be picky, though, I did feel the pillows were fairly uncomfortable (at least to my taste, which I know is very subjective). Other than that, I HIGHLY recommend the DoubleTree in DTLA.

This is formerly a Japanese-built hotel from the 1970's which has, of course, been updated with nice rooms and associated lobby decor. The thing that hasn't been updated (because it's impossible) is the convoluted floor plan that has the elevators tucked away in a weird manner that will confuse you every time you try to find them or exit them. That being said, when you find the elevators, take them down to the Zen Garden for a relaxing chill session replete with running water and clever landsc... Read more
