Just looking at other reviews now, I agree with most - it is a good place for a quick stay, but I wouldn't do more than a day. I had to book last minute (literally a few minutes before taking a shuttle from the airport there), as ended up having a 22hr layover and did not want to stay at LAX the whole time. The hotel itself is no more than a 10-15 min (*complimentary) shuttle ride from the airport which was ideal - but also heard from others on the shuttle (loudly expressed, the entire way t... On a business trip, had to find something in the area, used Google and found this hotel. They had a great on line rate so I booked it. The staff was very pleasant, they valet every car - no fee - just tip them - Good food right next door and very close, near LAX, Near the beach.....They had an issue with the water heater in the morning, so it was warm, just not hot, they comp'd my breakfast for the trouble - great people. Highly recommended!

We can clearly see that this is an old hotel that was turned into a "business boutique hotel". The first big mistake is parking. They do not warning you about the lack of a parking lot. The parking lot is private and used by a Supermarket chain, and by the Turo app. There's no loading area and the only way to park is using a valet service of 27 dollars plus taxes. The first room I got there wasn't a table so I had to ask for a second room. The second room the shower was not working... Now I am... Read more

Got no complaints about this place, it was near the airport and you could grab food nearby. Staff were friendly. On your return back to the airport I'd recommend getting a taxi from an app (you know the ones) as the flat rate for a normal one is 20 bucks even though the airport is like 5 mins away.

When I booked I thought this was interesting being so close to the airport and yet reasonably priced. I was delighted to discover this hotel with the my king size bed looking larger than a king and off in the corner a bit leaving room to move around and do yoga. Great TV with lots of options, good swimming pool, and best of all practically adjacent to Ralph's where I could buy all of my natural foods and sushi at great prices.

Stayed here for a long weekend. Got a good deal on Priceline. Was surpised with this hotel, looked like a new apartment building from the outside. The lobby was nice chic and elegant, nice furniture, very colorful. Nice friendly staff. Was amazed how big the standard room was. Just got the cheapest room but it was really nice. Again colorful furniture in the room. They even give you free toiletries in the bathroom. Location of this hotel was very good close to everwhere I wanted to go...... Read more

This hotel looks sharp online in all of its photos; however once one checks in it takes only a small amount of time to realize that it's outdated. The pool needed a lot of help; the rooms are small, the bed uncomfortable, the room small, the pillows awful. The shower felt amazing but it's smaller than a normal shower. It's clean and the staff is friendly. It's located very close to the airport. If like us you are staying for just one night after or before a flight this place is adequate for the... Read more

This hotel is chic and modern, but not very convenient as a hotel. It is the only hotel I have ever stayed in that has no desk in the rooms -- which is a huge problem if you need to get any work done on a laptop. The Wi-Fi is also not very easy to connect to.

Ok for a night or two when you're on the job and just passing by L.A. but does not offer as much as I thought. Courteous personnel and nice lobby but breakfast uninteresting and a bit costly. Elevators are not clean and could use a interior re-design. Rooms on the other hand are very comfortable and spacious, with low bed and very well designed (although small) washroom. Few bars and restaurants in the vicinity - very ordinary except the Little Italy Kitchen. All in all an OK hotel but some bad... Read more

PROPERTY: The hotel is approximately 10 minutes drive from the airport. It is adjacent to Ralph's Grocery Store and a bowling alley that was renovated. The hotel does have a pool adjacent to the main hotel. There are 3 elevators with interiors that are dated. STAFF: The hotel staff often appears to be pre-occupied in that they were observed acknowledging guests upon stepping up to the front counter, and with rarely a smile as are the valet staff. CHECK-IN PROCESS: Check-in is quick approx... Read more

So some context - I'm in hospitality and I always engage customer service people with a smile and a hi. (Pro-tip -be friendly to the front desk and they'll go over and above) My BF and I had just spend a week camping on a charity event from SF to LA. We were craving a bed and quiet badly. Ok. Will start with the good. The room seemed clean. Now the bad. This hotel is otherwise terrible - especially for a brand like Joie de Vivre who does the "trendy botiquey" thing. And here's why: 1.Awful c... Read more

The Custom Hotel describes itself as "stylish, sometimes quirky". If a room having no window coverings is stylish, I may agree. If indoor outdoor carpeting is "quirky", okay. What of the missing shower door, how would the Custom describe that? Overall this hotel was a dump. Placing a barn door on the bathroom does not transform a tenement into a chic location for "those who are in the know." To cap it off, I was overcharged on my valet when checking out.

I stayed for one night upon my arrival to L.A. The room was extremely cheap. The lobby and check in area are really nice and modern. The staff is very friendly. Unfortunately the hallways and rooms are dirty and smelly. The carpets are old and nasty and the curtains have NEVER been cleaned. The bathroom was quite large and modern. My actual room was big and spacious. The walls were an ugly dark shade of gray (to prob hide the dirt) and poorly patched. This looks like a hotel that was falling apa... Read more
