Overall: If this hotel were priced at around $150, which is consistent with other large, higher end hotels in the area, my stay would have aligned better with my expectations (though certain of the issues are unforgivable even at that price). As it is, at nearly $300 a night, I found the accommodations sorely lacking. If only one or even a couple of the below had been an issue, the overall experience may have been ok. As it is, there was just too much that was "off" for me to ever choose to s... Read more

I have been staying in this hotel for business for over a year. Not only are the views of Long Beach absolutely stunning, but the continued excellent customer service is 5 stars. You can tell operators have the customer comes first culture, from the wait staff to management to facilities its an overall excellent experience. A little gem in the LA area.

I've stayed here twice and probably won't go back for a third time. The rooms and location are nice but both times I visited, I got rooms that were less than I hoped for. The first time, I reserved a water view with a balcony. I got a first floor room overlooking the pool. This last trip I made the same reservation and got a first floor room again. Although this one did have an ocean view, it was right next to one of the ballroom venues and still was not a balcony room with a view. The sta... Read more

The hotel as a view of Long Beach from across the bay that is stunning. This makes up for its remote location. We had trouble finding the hotel even with our Garmin because of construction detours and the industrial location. We got lost every evening returning to the hotel in the dark. There is a bridge path straight into the heart of the city that is shorter than driving. Its remote so I would only suggest taking the bridge during the day. The hotel is broken up into multiple segments so... Read more

Noor, the employee who checked us in, was the rudest person I have ever encountered at a hotel! He could not find our reservation initially and when we asked to speak to a manager, he threatened to not allow us a room at the hotel. I was shocked! After we arrived at our room, the toilets were plugged and there were several spiders located right next to the bed. It was disgusting!

We stayed at the hotel for only one night but were pleased with our choice. The rooms are big and comfortable. We had a ground floor room so you could walk right out to the sand. Make sure to eat at hotel restaurant FUEGO the food is to die for. I had the prime rib chop, I wanted to pick the bone clean it was so good. The only complaint we had was that our patio table and chairs were missing when we checked in.

This hotel has a great location for a short vacation stay. Nice amenities but when counting the cost of parking and meals, this location is overpriced. The food is no better than average at Fuego, the on site restaurant, and the service is terrible with grumpy people waiting on you. The Residence Inn offers better and is right next door.

I have stayed at numerous Hilton branded hotels over the years. DT Maya drops the ball for the brand. I asked for late checkout as I had an 11pm flight. 1pm was offered. Most hotels have checkout at 12 noon, so 1pm is only an hour extra. Their checkout is at 11am to give the impression they are doing you a favour with 2 hours extra. This a beautiful hotel but quite expensive. I'm happy to invest in a nice room, which they have here, but felt very cheated when the wifi didn't work. If you're like me, and part of your vacation involves unwinding at the end of the day with your favorite shows, you should probably look at another hotel. The Maya has everything i look for in a hotel. The room was well appointed with good view. The layout was generous with room to move around and two very comfortable beds. The bathroom was attractively designed and spotless. What made my stay memorable though was the restraurant. The tables by the water are outside and with an open sky and outdoor heaters. The view, food and service are all excellent.

First I requested a king size bed and paid for a oven view. Neither request were made even with extra fee I paid. The restaurant there has horrible service. Also caught two employees sneaking in rooms doing god know what. The male female duo left giggling. Oh and forgot to include this at 3 in the am some thug knocking on our door.

Hotel décor and general ambience are great. Good pool, nice surrounding areas. Location is good if you're looking for relaxation. Most of Long Beach bars and restaurants are on the other side of the water - free shuttle bus service is quite good. Hotel restaurant is quite pricey, as is the only other option locally, Reef - just 50 yards along the road, although we have to say it's worth it. Stayed at the Maya for a couple of nights at the end of a long trip along Route 66 from Chicago and overall found the hotel ideal for our needs. Pleasant, helpful staff and a kind of unforced Mexican vibe all added up to an enjoyable visit. My only reservations are about the prices charged in the hotel restaurant (which in my opinion are on the high side), especially when the only alternative nearby is the equally pricey Reef, where we mistakenly chose to eat.
