I stay in hotels about 40-50 nights per year and am a fan of the IHG brand. I happened to get this one on a Priceline booking and was less than impressed. The parking lot has a very steep entry and is awkward. The check-in was slow and staff were less than friendly. Overall, I just felt as if this HI was not in line with the many other IHG hotels I've stayed in recently.

I think that this is a nice property. I cant give it a 5 star just because its beginning to show its age. The room had an old smell when i came in (it was 95 degrees outside so it was hot in the room) and there had been a 3 foot ceiling repair down but they didnt repaint it. These are deal breakings but i travel a lot. i am a Spire member with Holiday so my standards are high. I would stay here again.

Came in from Santa Clarita to watch a game at Petco. Staff was tremendous and attentive. Room was clean and quiet. Will stay here again for sure! Also, across the street is one of the best breakfast restaurants, The Omelette Factory.

The room was nice and the location is quiet. In addition, the staff was pleasant and attentive. I gave this property an "average" rating because it does not provide breakfast coffee in the lobby and does not provide a complimentary breakfast (at least for the rate that I paid). We were told this is because there is a restaurant on site. They did provide a small coffee pot in the room.

I loved my stay at the Holiday Inn in La Mesa. Friendly staff and great rooms. Highly recommended. Rooms are clean and excellent customer service. Hotel is next to everything. Very convenient location

This place wouldn't be so bad if they spend a little money putting micros in the rooms. How do you not have something so simple? Plue rhis place doesn't have any type of breakfast service. But they do have a restaurant on the premises. So no microwave, no breakfast, which I thought was a given for HI. It screams "eat at the restaurant. " That's just weak.

I'm typically a Marriott person. I asked my corporate travel agent for a Marriott hotel and she said they use the Holiday Inn when we have corporate guests stay in La Mesa, CA. Reluctantly, I agreed. I don't even have a frequent flyer number for the Holiday Inn. I arrived late (8:30 p.m.) after grinding my way in traffic for 3 hours down the I/5-I/78/I-15 from L.A. I was tired. It was as if they were waiting for me. The desk clerk quickly checked me in and even gave me a discount on the r... Read more

Had a great room with good lighting and a nice view. The onsite restaurant was sufficiently priced with many options to choose from and the gentleman in the morning was very attentive and helpful in my selection. I recommend this hotel if you are traveling for business- it's a great location and checking in and out is a breeze. The girls at the check in counter are excellent.

Around 6:30 am the car wash will open and it's a loud consistent sound of a vacuum. Unfortunately I left my ear plugs at home, so it was very loud. (Tip to hotel - rooms close to the car wash have ear plugs in those rooms). Unfortunately, my room was also not clean when I arrived. There was used gum in a wrapper on the bathroom counter. The hotel was sold out so there wasn't another room to be relocated to.

Check in was very smooth and rooms were ready right on time! The room was quite roomy especially for San Diego and the room was very clean and well stocked for the amount of travelers we had with us. Enjoyed having a small refrigerator in the room, a microwave would have completed the set up nicely, but, you cant have everything when you aren't at home. Beds were pretty good at least in my opinion, for some people they may feel that they are a little firm but I have slept in many that are wor... Read more

Stayed here for a business trip and was very pleased with the hotel and staff. The rooms were clean, the staff was extremely friendly and made my trip a breeze. Two thumbs up. I will definitely come back for all my business trips to San Diego!

Had to make a last minute cancellation at hotel due to injury and was out of the cancellation policy set by Travelocity. Worked with Art, the manager at Holiday Inn, he was very gracious and provided us a full refund for our reservation.

Small property. Small pool. No parking. Horrible attached restaurant. The experience left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. Not enjoyable. I would spend a bit more and find a more respectable alternative.

This place was just OK. Not very quiet - we heard banging each morning and mid afternoon. Even though our room was on the end, we heard only occasionally loud people. Room was fair - restaurant very expensive for what you get, eat somewhere else. The food was OK - just better selection in the area. We stayed 3 nights and would probably stay here unless we could find cheaper accommodations.

It's tough to recommend the Holiday Inn at La Mesa. It is not actually owned by Holiday Inn, but simply licensed to a third-party. Because of this franchise model, it arguably does not deliver as a 3-star hotel. Here's the rundown. Go there only if, - you don't care much for customer service; - only need a very short stay (1-2 nights); - have a strong need to be in La Mesa; - don't have children; and - find the room at $75 or below. If any of the above don't apply to you, simply look elsewher... Read more

Great place to stay if you are in this area of San Diego. It was very clean, there were enough towels, the tv worked fine and even a Keurig coffeemaker was provided. You can never go wrong with a Holuday Inn!

We arrived pretty late but they were very accommodating and we got to our room. No issues. The cost was higher than quoted. That was a problem. Also, the next morning we had an ant infestation. They were in the sink. I knew then it was time to go. Not happy about that.

Stayed here for 3 days. I love the friendly staff and the atmosphere! The rooms are very nice and look recently updated. The maids were very nice and made sure that we were very well taken care of. I would highly recommend this hotel and plan on staying here for my next trip to La Mesa.

The best thing about this hotel is its location. It's close to the airport, Qualcomm Stadium & close to the family we came to visit & spend time with. The staff was friendly & attentive & housekeeping kept our room tidy & clean!!! There are a couple of things that would have made our stay great! A microwave oven to warm up leftovers or pop popcorn to snack on would have been nice. The gym could be improved by adding a bench, an all in one machine & a mat to stretch & do floor work! Stayed here 3 nights. Had king size which limited the space in room, almost no walking or storage room! Switched to two queen beds and it was much more roomier. Close to mission beach, weird hotel views.

I sure did not think the place was that bad, nice? nope. but not that bad. The price of real estate in this town is so expensive, so to have a decent room at this price, with free, tight yes, but free parking and friendly service and a munch of holiday inn reward points made the overall value a five star rating in my book. Now if price was double it might drop to a three. Great option if you have a car and are visiting. Downtown hotels are fr more exensive and cost like 25 to 50 per night for pa... Read more

The hotel is convenient. Parking is free and the rooms are nice. Clean, updated, good shower and comfortable bed. Street noise is moderate in the morning but not awful and staying in the rear of the hotel would resolve this. Easy trip to North County and beaches. Lots of shopping and restaurants near by. The same room would be triple the cost in downtown SD or at the beach. If you just need a clean, nice and safe place to stay, this is the perfect.

We were forced to stay in a hotel with a pipe burst in our home. We stayed at the holiday in express and it was a great place to stay and a great value! My daughter and granddaughter stayed with me and they enjoyed the pool. The people at the front desk or friendly. The restaurant on site was very, very good.

We stayed here 4 days and had a king room. The place is VERY clean. The room was large and so was the fridge. The shower was also quite big. But we had to ask for a non-slip mat as the floor in the shower was very slippery. But they brought it promptly and it worked well. About the only complaint I have is the depth of the closet. It's certainly wide enough, but you can't slide the doors open and closed because the hangers stick out farther than the doors. I've never seen such a thing. And it's ... Read more

Checked in on a Saturday evening and the desk clerk David, said he could put me in a "quiet" corner room. I went to room 252, which seemed good, and grabbed a shower. Whenn I was getting dressed I got a call from the front desk, David wanted to know how was the room, I said it was good and went out to dinner. When I got back to the hotel and was laying in bed it was then that I noticed I was in the direct line of sight to an intersection and traffic noise. I was woken up through out the night by... I was coming to San Diego State to visit our son and there was not a hotel room available! Must have been Charger fans, weddings, etc. but I finally found this Holiday Inn. I am a Ritz Carlton kind of gal so I was a little worried about the area. There is a nice Costco across the street so it couldn't be that bad! They were totally overbooked when I arrived early but David and the staff took really good care of me and gave me a room ahead of the huge wedding party that had arrived and were s... Read more
