Old heritage building, comfortable rooms, great views over the ocean, relaxed pool area, direct access to the ocean park and promenade, fine restaurants, close to shopping and art galleries. Why stay at the "Factory Hotels" in the San Diego Financial District when 10 minutes away you are by the ocean in a place with great heritage and atmosphere?

Only just getting round to writing this review after a fantastic trip to America. We stayed at this hotel for 1 night and what a Beautiful hotel, staff extremely helpful and friendly especially the check in staff, rooms are spacious and decorated lovely and we were lucky enough to have a balcony with a view. Great central location hotel....what more can you ask for. Would recommend this hotel if you are in La Jolla

This is simply the best place to stay in La Jolla!!! The staff is supremely accommodating and they make you feel special. The rooms are wonderful!! Room 422 is our favorite. We had lunch there one day and breakfast the day we left. Delicious!!! And the location is awesome!! We love to walk and La Jolla is the perfect place to do that and La Valencia is right in the middle of it all! We love this place and will definitely return!!

Our goal was for a quick and relaxing overnight get-away at a hotel we enjoyably frequented years ago. When we learned we could also include our two little well-behaved dogs, reservations were enthusiastically set. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly & informed that "Yappy Hour" was about to begin on the patio - a once a month event for locals & guests with dogs. What fun! Delicious appetizers and drinks at a reduced price are enjoyed by all, along with treats for pups sitting nicely alongside... Read more

This hotel is a classic, it's right in the heart of the Village of La Jolla, the restaurant is good but the location is better. Sitting in the bar area on the couches with a cocktail is so relaxing, just love this older hotel.

Really nice hotel with lots of character and definitely not a chain type. The building could be in the South of France. All the staff genuine and helpful but not over the top. Recommend staying in a room overlooking the Pacific and using the restaurant which is excellent. Only issue is the time taken to clean the room which was later than one would like.

Have never posted a second review for a property but thought the Pink Palace, which was my name as a kid, (officially the Pink Lady) deserved it. Was in town for a quick LA business trip and opted to suck up the drive each day to stay in La Jolla at the LaV. Iwas a business only stop and my time on property was limited, so reservations helped me with the Petite Chambre, a smaller room to keep my company's travel budget in check. I'm very partial to this property due to many stays over the yea... Read more

I must make travelers aware of this outstanding hotel, La Valencia, and this wonderful hotel manager, Michelle De la Espriella. It is so rare to find such individualized care and personalized touch as this young lady offers. She and her staff took care of any need within minutes of asking and then gave a follow-up call to make sure you were taken care of. Michelle also made us aware of any special events going on in the area. You always felt like you were the most important person in the hotel.... Read more

Visiting here from the UK. Ideal location for sooo many things. Visiting sites in San Diego, only 13 miles away. Beach, on your doorstep, as is a plethora of wildlife. Seals, sea lions, pelicans, and pods of dolphins. The absolute best of both worlds. City and all its sights. Beach and all its wonders with fresh sea air and great walks. Fabulous place to chill out. The staff here are wonderful. They quite often know what you want before you do! The patio area is lovely to sit and have an ear... Read more

My wife and I spent two nights at La Valencia. This was our second visit. The setting overlooking La Jolla coastline is wonderful and the staff are attentive. We dined in the restaurant one night and found the food to be a good standard. We would go again.

We came to the Hotel expecting, a 5 star hotel service and is not quite there, the pool is super nice and the service attend of everything you can need, the bar good is good and the food all so; but on the room is where you feel they can do better, we have a luxury ocean view, and probably they have to say partial because the windows ate so dirty that you can not see well the ocean, the air conditioner is super noise and you can hear a lot of noises from all over, the water from next room, chai... I have to sound a nerd here but working in Construction and Engineering, this property is beautiful and so well thought-out. Location is perfect with shops, bars and restaurants nearby. As this was the end of our holiday, we didn't explore San Diego to much and the hotel stopped us doing that. Instead we sat around the pool and enjoyed the June gloom with a few beverages, even it was midday! Top service, top location and just a great resort hotel.

First the Bad: - When I booked my reservation through the hotel, I booked a specific room based on the recommendation of the reservation agent. To my surprise, I was not given that room. When i called the front desk after my arrival to ask about it, they said they were fully booked and they could not move me...only to have the manager call back and say a room was available. - The Villas are completely outdated and their only redeeming qualities were the view (from the second floor, first floor... My boyfriend and I recently booked an American road trip, coming from the uk we wanted to see and experience as much as possible. I booked to stay at La Velencia hotel after reading reviews on here! And they wasn't wrong... The views are simply amazing, and the hotel is picturesque. La Jolla as an area is also lovely, family friendly but also great for couples has a lovely vibe, jam packed of little gems some fantastic restaurants we came across whilst we had a morning walk, don't be fooled whe...
