Old heritage building, comfortable rooms, great views over the ocean, relaxed pool area, direct access to the ocean park and promenade, fine restaurants, close to shopping and art galleries. Why stay at the "Factory Hotels" in the San Diego Financial District when 10 minutes away you are by the ocean in a place with great heritage and atmosphere?

Only just getting round to writing this review after a fantastic trip to America. We stayed at this hotel for 1 night and what a Beautiful hotel, staff extremely helpful and friendly especially the check in staff, rooms are spacious and decorated lovely and we were lucky enough to have a balcony with a view. Great central location hotel....what more can you ask for. Would recommend this hotel if you are in La Jolla

This is simply the best place to stay in La Jolla!!! The staff is supremely accommodating and they make you feel special. The rooms are wonderful!! Room 422 is our favorite. We had lunch there one day and breakfast the day we left. Delicious!!! And the location is awesome!! We love to walk and La Jolla is the perfect place to do that and La Valencia is right in the middle of it all! We love this place and will definitely return!!

Our goal was for a quick and relaxing overnight get-away at a hotel we enjoyably frequented years ago. When we learned we could also include our two little well-behaved dogs, reservations were enthusiastically set. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly & informed that "Yappy Hour" was about to begin on the patio - a once a month event for locals & guests with dogs. What fun! Delicious appetizers and drinks at a reduced price are enjoyed by all, along with treats for pups sitting nicely alongside... Read more

Really nice hotel with lots of character and definitely not a chain type. The building could be in the South of France. All the staff genuine and helpful but not over the top. Recommend staying in a room overlooking the Pacific and using the restaurant which is excellent. Only issue is the time taken to clean the room which was later than one would like.

Have never posted a second review for a property but thought the Pink Palace, which was my name as a kid, (officially the Pink Lady) deserved it. Was in town for a quick LA business trip and opted to suck up the drive each day to stay in La Jolla at the LaV. Iwas a business only stop and my time on property was limited, so reservations helped me with the Petite Chambre, a smaller room to keep my company's travel budget in check. I'm very partial to this property due to many stays over the yea... Read more

I must make travelers aware of this outstanding hotel, La Valencia, and this wonderful hotel manager, Michelle De la Espriella. It is so rare to find such individualized care and personalized touch as this young lady offers. Michelle also made us aware of any special events going on in the area. You always felt like you were the most important person in the hotel.... Read more

Visiting here from the UK. Ideal location for sooo many things. Visiting sites in San Diego, only 13 miles away. Beach, on your doorstep, as is a plethora of wildlife. Seals, sea lions, pelicans, and pods of dolphins. The absolute best of both worlds. City and all its sights. Beach and all its wonders with fresh sea air and great walks. Fabulous place to chill out. I have to sound a nerd here but working in Construction and Engineering, this property is beautiful and so well thought-out. Location is perfect with shops, bars and restaurants nearby. As this was the end of our holiday, we didn't explore San Diego to much and the hotel stopped us doing that. Instead we sat around the pool and enjoyed the June gloom with a few beverages, even it was midday! Top service, top location and just a great resort hotel.

I stayed here many years ago and found the property long on history and short on upkeep, but it had been so long that I felt sure that the rooms must have been updated. I needed to be in downtown La Jolla and the location certainly is excellent. However that is where the excellence stops. To be fair, the front desk staff was cheerful and helpful - even when I quickly returned to them after a few minutes in my first room (624?). It smelled so badly of mold/mildew that I thought it might actually ... Read more

Stayed for 5 nights with our two kids. Beautiful Hotel, unique look, best location in La Jolla, good food and overall friendly, attentive and professional service. Good vibe. Happy place. If I have to say something on the negative side, sometimes it can be challenging to find a quiet spot to relax. During our stay there were 3 or 4 weddings, and two other private parties. The hotel is not huge and that was perhaps a bit too much. Also, chambermaid service on Sunday was late and lacking and the ... Read more

When I checked in I was told I had been "upgraded" to an ocean view in the tower. I wish now I had taken the original room I was assigned as I'm sure it had to be better than this. The tower rooms are extremely small. The shower head was caked with GUNK and so was the alternative shower head. It may just look like harmless mineral deposits but it's really BACTERIA.
