"From the moment we entered the Estancia, we felt very relaxing. The staff was absolutely wonderful and courteous. The champagne upon checked-in was very nice :-) The surroundings is beautiful and well taken care of. We strolled the grounds many times, and stopped along the way to take in the beautiful, refreshing air. The room is nice and well stocked with necessities. The location is also very convenience to many activities to do, dining, and see in La Jolla & San Diego. We definitely would love to return here again in the future for more relaxation time. "

"Beautiful landscaping. Valet parking is mandatory but we found it quite convenient. Most hotels charge to park anyways so might as well have your car delivered to you. Upon check in we were offered sparkling wine and tickets for complimentary margaritas. Estancia is very spa-esque, with guests strolling through the grounds in their (very comfy) bath robes. We had an upgrade to a king bedroom with a veranda. These were on the bottom floor. different arrangement from other hotels where you enter from a hallway. our room was comfy and clean and the bottled water was free and limitless! We had our 1 yr old with us and didn't see many other children there but found the grounds to be quite kid friendly. The pool and spa looked lovely but it was chilly so we didn't use them. great location, near the Birch aquarium and downtown la jolla. Would definitely return."

"My wife and I throughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Estancia. Our room was wonderful and the staff was top notch. We will return soon for a relaxing weekend. We have stayed at other hotels in the San Diego that are honestly situated in more convenient locations but the short drive to where we would like to go is worth it! I would highly recommend the Estancia. There was only one small disappointing surprise and that was they didn't have bed turn down service. It wasn't a huge issue but none the less for the level of service they offer in all other respects it was surprising."

"One of the most beautiful places in La Jolla. Stayed there many times but they are improving all the time. The staff is extremely attentive and friendly. The check in is fast, service is great and a nice surprised was the improved menu at the Mustang Burrows. The grounds are very relaxing and the rooms spacious and very clean.
It will be nice if they have self parking since the wait to the valet parking is sometimes long.

"If you are traveling from outside of San Diego to see the city, this hotel is a little bit far away from all the sights. But for San Diego residences, it's a perfect hideaway for a staycation! "The facility is very nice. The service was fast and very friendly. We requested a room change and it was taken care of without any questions.
We had a very nice meal at Margaritas and Burros.
Our only comment would be the hospitality fee of $17.
I didn't mind paying it, but it covered champagne, a margarita, and internet. We don't drink and I purposefully did not bring electronics so we wouldn't be tempted to work while we were resting.
Overall a great stay and I would recommend the resort."

"Overall great hotel, beautiful grounds with lush gardens. Only thing to know is that it is a short drive from downtown La Jolla, rather than being right in the thick of things. Also somewhat annoying that they charge for self parking, but apparently all SoCal hotels do this so can't gripe too much. "My sister and I wanted a quick getaway to relax and spend time together. This was the perfect place to do that. Wished that the parking was not so expensive and valet only. But, the valet personnel were cheerful and friendly, adding to our positive experience. Driving north along the ocean, we stopped at several small towns. So glad we visited the San Juan Capistrano Mission. The specialty shops in nearby Encinitas were intriguing, from the Oil and Vinegar Shop to the Local Artists' shop. Whale watching excursions are close by.

However, at the time of booking we were not told that none of the spa offerings pool were going to be available due to renovations. If I had known this I would have chosen a different hotel and spa!! "Very nice clean place. Only downside is that no matter how much you pay for the room, be prepared to add at least $37 charges to your room price. Parking at the hotel's own lot is $20 per night extra, which is absolutely ridiculous, and they charge $17 for the coffee and the water in your room regardless if you drink it or not. So when you think you are paying $150/per night, it really isn't $150/night."

"The hotel with its grounds is clearly beautiful, no doubt. Rooms are clean and comfortable as well. Food quality was great at the restaurant or the pool. The reason I gave it 3 points for staff efficiency is the waiter at the pool that was servicing our cabana. He checked with us couple of times when we just arrived, but then abandoned us after serving drinks. We had to place our food order with a different waitress that was not assigned to our cabana.nI also was a little disappointed in their spa services. My boyfriend and I got couples massage. When you are charging $140 for 50 min per person, you better make sure that you have efficient staff to perform that massage. My massage therapist was not bad, but my boyfriend's didn't do a great job. nWe will go back to Estancia La Jolla hoping for an improved pool service, but we definitely are not planning on getting massage there again."

"Before our trip to La Jolla, I spent hours researching the Estancia La Jolla, trying to find out as much information as possible. There were so many beautiful pictures posted online, but the pictures did not do it justice. The hotel grounds were positively breathtaking, and we could have easily just stayed at the hotel and had a wonderful time. We had a late check-in, and we were taken care of promptly and efficiently. The property was BEYOND stunning, and the staff was incredibly helpful. As two 24 year olds, unaware of what to do in La Jolla/ San Diego, the front desk as well as the bell hops to the valet guys were so incredibly helpful and friendly. I would absolutely book a room at the Estancia La Jolla again, as I miss the ambiance already"

"We stayed here for an overnight stay-cation and had a great time! The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. My only complaint is that it took a long time to get a drink at the pool. Apparently, they open a small bar next to the pool during the summer months, but we had to wait 30 minutes or go up to the restaurant bar in our bathing suits. Also, the OJ at brunch was not fresh squeezed. Overall, it was a nice overnight. The grounds are beautiful,and the atmosphere was relaxing. You do have to pay for parking and a hotel fee, but that is stated in the website."

"If you are looking for curb appeal this is the place.The staff was great and very friendly, and the rooms were very clean, however the room was nothing like what was portrayed in the pictures. The pics seen on the site showed beautiful views of courtyards and and beaches. Our view however was of a parking lot and tall hedges that were installed to absorb some of the traffic noise coming from the road we were facing. Also a large flood light was located directly above our patio door which proved to be quite annoying in the middle of the night. In addition the hotel charged a $20.00 parking fee and an additional $17.00 a day service fee. Overall, I do not think I would recommend staying here."

"I drove down for one night from LA and it was solid; I'm not sure it's 4 star as they claim but it's pretty nice. This is a 2-3 day getaway spot. Staff was very friendly and despite a wedding taking place and trying to be respectful of it, we still got around the grounds easily. Bed was comfortable and had a courtyard room, so minimum noise. Quiet grounds and the pool area is nice, Although the rate was great, the other charges add up quickly: Valet $25 (regular self-parking $20), resort fee of $17 (which gets you a complimentary, watered down drink from the restaurant, internet access, etc.) and a few other taxes. I would definitely return for a couple days at a discounted rate and give it a 4 stars out of 5 due to rate."

"My wife and I booked this property, but were disappointed. While the resort was in a fine location sitting directly across the street from UCSD, it lacked in terms of customer service & resort-like feel. We upgraded the base rate to a Veranda Room, but found that the veranda consisted of a combined walkway with our neighbors (not fenced off) that ended in a chair with a small patio table on a small square of concrete. Upon arrival, we found that the patio table had the remnants of the prior occupants dessert (never removed). The room reeked of cleaner & opening up the veranda door to air the place out didn't help much. We called three times to ask for bar soap (none came in our room) as well as extra pillows. Over one hour later, the items finally arrived. The property was nice, however the walls were thin...we heard people all around us. Auto air conditioner was very loud and ran continuously. The pool was nothing impressive (just a small square sitting outside the rec room). Coffee service ran out on Sunday morning & people were looking for a staff member to refill the carafe. Finally, on check-out, the front desk agent didn't even ask us how our stay was...he just simply handed us a bill with our parking charges & resort fees. If you are looking for a deal in San Diego, the rate was certainly good for what we got...but if you are hoping for a resort-like feel...this isn't the place for you!"

"This is a quiet resort holet located just 10 minutes from La Jolla. My wife and I wanted a quiet place to celebrate our anniversary and this was it. We stayed on a Sunday night. Get a room that faces the courtyard as it is much nicer view and does not have street noise."

"the hotel is way overpriced - with an internet discount deal - there are extra fees for everything: parking, pool use, internet... it does cater to a high level clientele of course. when we arrived there was a wedding in progress and all attention was geared to that event the layout of the hotel is awkward and we had to pay to park an equivalent of 6 blocks from our room the check-in clerk was to have printed out driving directions to our next destination, but never did the closet light is supposed to go on and off automatically when the door opens - well it went on, but never off - very irritating light shining throughout the room all night"

"We have stayed at Estancia Hotel in the past and been very pleased with the quiet and beautiful surroundings. This stay we felt the noise and children throwing balls in the pool area as well as the terrible noise from misbehaving children at the buffet (people were leaving) will prevent us from returning.

"Last weekend, my friends and I went to La Jolla to celebrate a birthday. We booked our rooms at the Estancia Hotel through 'BookIt' and got a great rate. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, the grounds and garden are famous, the rooms, common areas and pool area were stylishly decorated and clean. The restaurants had great food and excellent, friendly servers. We checked in quickly, no waiting and the front counter did everything to make our stay an exceptional and relaxing experience. He was professional, helpful, efficient and he did everything to make our check in and check out smooth and fast. He was a great ambassador for the property. A plus for this property is it's close proximity to beach vistas and hikes. We will definitely be back again."

"They say the happiest people on earth are found at Disneyland. Not true, they are the staff at Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa. My honey and I spent two nights at the hotel for New Years. The staff is ridiculously friendly and impossibly accommodating. The food at Mustangs and Burros was delish and the room service was inexpensive in regards to the quality. We were not able to take advantage of the spa services this trip, but we will definitely be back for another stay!! The grounds are beautiful;) Thanks!"

"This is a beautiful cozy hotel.It is a great place to go for a romantic getaway. Beautifully manicured and the ribeye was one of the best I have ever eaten. The staff is awesome. Honestly, I would love to return here every year for our anniversary. Love this hotel. Just have to find a good deal or it can get expensive. Food is a bit pricey but it's worth it. Otherwise there are some not so expensive great food choices outside the resort.
