I expected a smaller room in and old building..I got it along with charming furnishing and a comfortable bed in an antique frame... Staff was warm and friendly! Search rates for a bit. Lived sitting on the upstairs porch at night! Pete's across the street is GREAT for breakfast.

This is an old historic building, full of charm and should never be compared to a modern purpose built hotel. We had a room at the front of the hotel, compact but perfectly functional, there is a lovely veranda at the front which is great to sit out on with a pre dinner drink and to relax in the late afternoon sun. Our only complaint was that room service was very poor. Both days we had to ask at the desk for the room to be made up and coffee machine supplies to be replenished, lots ... Read more

What could be quaint and charming felt dirty and was in disrepair. Wires hanging on the side of the building with broken pipes. Needs paint inside and out and a really good cleaning. Definately had strong smell of curry in the evening enough that my clothes smelled. Carpets dirty. Tiny room. Thin cheap towels. Very, very overpriced at 150/night! Should have been 50. Varanda was nice to sit on and overlook the street for people watching. Good location. Sorry, would not choose this hotel again

Hotel with long history located in central Jamestown. Booked last minute when driving to yosemite and got a good price under 100 $. The room had a large bed, ceiling fan, micro, fridge a sink and bathroom. I would call the decoration ancient and charming since the hotel has a long history don't expect it to be super clean and fresh. The breakfast was surprisingly well equipped and I would stay there again.

Cozy charming quaint pick your own adjective just don't confuse this with the çhain that you stayed in last night. This is a one of a kind and you have to be ready for it turn of the century decor and size. Enjoy it

Stayed in this hotel as a Base for a visit to yosemite. Room was relatively clean. Old fashioned kind of room. Smallish shower area but sufficient. There is a coffee machine and hotel provide Wolfgang Puck coffee. Breakfast was some simple instant cereals and toasts. Not impressive but enough to fill your stomach. Hotel located near Great eateries and bars. Some reviews mentioned curry smell. Definitely present but I wouldn't say offensive. Nice little hotel to stay and rest, and if I may make... Read more

My husband and I stayed there for a night. We booked it online and on arrival the room was ready. When we looked at it first we felt OK,we can survive a night but not happy because of the amount we had paid(good 160$ for a night). The bathroom was not cleaned! I mean someone had used it and forgot to flush(how disgusting) we went to the owner and complained that the bathroom is not clean, she said "we never got any complaints before about this hotel". The fridge and microwave were not working. Th... Read more

Room 209 in main building $99 per night plus tax Basic but clean, bathroom very compact. Excellent wifi- very fast and works throughout the hotel. Check in clerk said town is haunted and guests occasionally report strange happenings - we saw no evidence of this during our one night stay. Bed was very uncomfortable - only bonus for us was that we had just arrived from Australia, driving from SFO after an overnight flight, so our tiredness meant sleep came easily. However we both woke with a sore... Read more

We had a great stay at this hotel, we booked a cabin, and we just loved Jamestown. A lot to see and this hotel is nice, clean, service is friendly, simple but nice breakfast. We' recommend it to everyone who's looking for a nice, friendly accommodation and an easy gateway to Yosemite Valley. Catherine de Vries

Old hotel in very good shape. The people are friendly. Good breakfast. Many people stay there to visit Yosemite. Needs more receptacles in the room or an adaptor to be able to plug multiple devices.Shower is very small

We were given cottage. Very little space in the shower. You could hardly move around. Cottage looked in a bad shape(structurally). Don't go by the pictures in the website. They must be showing their best room. Lady at front(may be the owner has attitude and responds harshly. Didn't wait to eat free breakfast as we want to get out ASAP. Location is the only reason I gave an additional star. Its located right outside Yosemite.

This is a historical building! Yes, it's old. Yes, rooms are little and shower is cramped. Breakfast is simple but in the most charming dining room/living room/library. We stayed in the main hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Owners were very nice! This is not a new fangle full service hotel. It served guests during the California gold rush so don't expect a modern place. Full of history and old charm. We would go back with no hesitation.

It was an enjoyable experience. The historic atmosphere was very unique. The manager and her son were very informative. The cute little cottages that surround the hotel reminded me of the motel we stayed at for our honeymoon, I only wished we had a few more days to where we could explore the area and the historic little town.

Room was clean but small, like most authentic gold country hotels. Room had refrigerator, microwave and large flat-screen. Private shower room a plus. Bed sheets luxurious. Near many fine restaurants. Reasonable breakfast in the morning. Coffee in room.

Jamestown is a little town and has very little to offer in the way of accommodations. These folks are very accommodating and truly welcoming. They room is fine for a couple days and the property is quaint. I would not suggest relying on them for breakfast but I will certainly choose them again next time I am out that way

Well we pulled in driving from alpine lake lodge and restaurant into little Jamestown to this royal hotel drove back into cottage area and decided to turn around and park in front of hotel since the hotel is where we were staying the night. Historical hotel with many small upgrades still keeping the charm of its original look and feel. Clean quiet no gun totem Cowboys or pilgrims to be seen. Stairs access to rooms or I assume less stairs from the backside of hotel where cottages are. Our room... Read more

This hotel basically is an old house that was modified to be a hotel. the breakfast room has a bar (like the old west) and a piano with several tables. The main staircase is that of an old house, the carpets and the wall paper also appear to be of a certain era. All the furniture and paintings are authentic to match the "Gold rush" era, so for me it was quite an experience, I loved it. HOWEVER, Please note the bathroom is down the hallway and you have to leave your room to use it, which means yo... Read more

This is a very charming hotel in an old building in the gold-miners town of Jamestown, CA (the entire town is very nice and has preserved that western spirit). While rather basic, it had all we needed and perfectly served it's purpose. The room was - albeit a bit small - clean and had all usual amenities. The bathroom was clean and functional too, but again nothing was missing. Staff was friendly and helpful, e.g. for dinner recommendations. Free breakfast is served but only till 9am, which is... This hotel was awful, if I could give a 0 I would. The floor was filthy, the bed crackled every time you moved because they left the plastic cover on the mattress. The A/C was so loud you couldn't sleep, besides the fact it didn't cool the room at all. There was no parking. They decided to scrape the driveway in front of our room at 8:00am on a Sunday morning. We were also told breakfast was served until 10:00am. We got down at 8:55am and were told breakfast was over at 9:00! There was a few pie... Read more

My husband and I were traveling to Yosemite and wanted a place to stay for a couple nights. We chose this place based on price and location. We booked through Priceline. We checked in late in the evening, but it was an efficient check-in. The lobby smelled very much like curry, but I didn't notice that type of smell in our room. Like many of the reviews have noted, the rooms are quite small. We had read the reviews before booking, so we were prepared and it was fine for our two-night stay. ... Read more

Very nice one night stay in cottage 8. I will definitely return with my husband. The owner was friendly and helpful and the town of Jamestown is charming. Please overlook the need for a little paint on the outside of the cottages. I loved it here.

Nicely kept historic building on Main street. My room was small, but big enough. Very clean. I was actually surprised how clean it was. Staff was friendly and helpful. TV with cable, good wi-fi signal, and pleasent balcony to sit outside. There are plenty of food options and stores to walk to. All in all a good stay. And as a woman traveling alone, I felt very safe here. My only complaint is no real window from the room, but it wasn't a big deal.

We booked the Royal Carriage hotel very last minute. We were meant to be staying at housekeeping camp at Yosemite but due to the valley road being closed we left the park to find alternative accommodation as they had no idea how long it would take. We checked into the most awful establishment I've ever set foot in (a motel in Groveland) and after realising there was no way we'd survive the night without getting eaten alive by bed bugs we found this place on and I'm so glad we did! This was my second time staying here as I made my way to Yosemite. I booked a room ahead of time since that's where I previously stayed and new what to expect. Upon arrival I found that a cabin was available so, after getting a personal tour to see it, I upgraded. I enjoyed the extra space, full kitchen, spotless bath, and comfortable bed. Most of Jamestown has that California Gold Rush vibe and this location does as well. I didn't take any photos of the lobby but it's gorgeous. The staff was k... Read more
